Atlas even programmed an entire alarm system around him. Even Ozpin, who has proven to be able to match the Slayer in combat, is genuinely frightened of him and doesn't believe he'd be able to stop him should he oppose them.

* OutsideContextProblem: In chapter 37, Emerald and Mercury mention that they weren't expecting someone like the Slayer. The two thought the only enemies they'd be fighting were idealistic and heroic hunters and huntresses (which is what they got in canon); instead, they got a brutal killing machine that [[VillainKiller isn't afraid to end their lives, let alone tear them to shreds]].

* SuperStrength: He's stronger than anyone else on Remnant, being able to shatter a person's Aura with a punch without his armor and physically tear through demons, Grimm, and humans like tissue-paper. Ruby even considers him to be stronger than both her father and Yang ''combined''. He can fire his weapons with ease; in contrast, an Atlas soldier who tried to test fire his Gauss Cannon was killed by the recoil.

* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: While William wants to kill Raven, the reveal that [[spoiler: she's the Spring Maiden]] and [[spoiler: still has the Relic of Destruction]] stops him from doing so. Another reason is if he does kill Raven, he'll ruin his connection with Yang. In his head, the worst-case scenario is she'll become a suicidal berserker who would eventually get herself, Ruby, and the rest of their allies killed because of her recklessness, spurred on by the fact that someone she thought was her friend had killed her mom.
** Subverted later in Chapter 38. The Slayer decides "screw it" and tries to kill Raven anyways. Yang could hate him for all he cared; there was no way he was risking letting the power of [[spoiler:the Spring Maiden]] land in the hands of Hell.

* DramaticIrony: Lionheart thinks that Ozpin's circle still doesn't know he betrayed them. However, thanks to VEGA notifying them that they have a mole in their ranks, they soon realize it's him. Hazel even offers to take him out.

* VillainousBreakdown: Has one when the Slayer defeats her, screaming that the Maiden's powers are hers and that she earned it.

* PlayingBothSides: Because of his cowardice, Leo plays both sides of the war between Ozpin and Salem out of fear for his life. He sells out the former when the latter threatens to kill him, and he tries to defect again when he realizes the Doom Slayer might stand a chance against her and might butcher him for his initial betrayal. While William can understand his cowardice, he's disgusted because Leo's a special kind of coward: the kind that would let everyone die as long as they're the only one left.

Unfortunately for her, while he agrees with her to an extent, that doesn't mean he'll let her practice her dogma on innocent people.

* FatalFlaw: Like his canon counterpart, Leonardo's greatest weakness is his cowardice. He defected to Salem's faction after she threatened to kill him, and he tries to switch sides ''again'' when he sees what the Doom Slayer can do and realizes he'll butcher him for his betrayal.

* MythologyGag: Cinder's hate for the Slayer reflects her canon counterpart's hate for Ruby, as they both beat and humiliated her in their respective stories.

* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: When the Slayer faces Raven and her tribe, some members wisely choose to run away. And when William starts killing them, Raven makes a portal to transport the survivors away and later does the same when she yields to him.

* WhyDidYouMakeMeHitYou: [[spoiler: After outing herself as the Spring Maiden and blasting the Slayer with her power in an act of pure desperation, she blames him for making her do that.]]

* HowTheMightHaveFallen: Her brutal beatdown by the Slayer's hands left Raven heavily injured, and she had to crawl back to Ozpin's side because she had nowhere else to go. If you want to get technical, her Semblance can only make portals with people she has a bond with, which she doesn't have with her bandit tribe aside from Vernal (who wasn't there during the village raid). She had no choice.

* AintTooProudToBeg: After a fierce fight ending with her tribe members dispersed or dead, Raven begs the Doom Slayer not to force her to join the fight against Hell; she even starts crying.
* AssholeVictim: After seeing what the Slayer did to her in Chapter 38, Ozpin and Qrow agree that she had that beatdown coming for a while; the former says she got off easy considering all the lives she upturned from her banditry.

* DirtyCoward: Like her canon counterpart, Raven shows herself to be just as cowardly.

* EvilCannotComprehendGood: While Raven isn't evil per se, at least to herself in her Darwinist mindset, she doesn't understand why the Doom Slayer wouldn't leave her or her tribe alone to raid. William still cares about innocent lives and doesn't harm or kill anyone who doesn't merit it. It's why he's not going to stand by and let her raid a village of innocent bystanders and steal their stuff.

* NeutralFemale: Raven wants nothing to do with Ozpin's war against Salem nor the Doom Slayer's fight with Hell. She has the power to fight but decides to remain neutral, believing both to be useless causes. After the Slayer beats her, William and VEGA force her to pick a side. Hell is coming for everyone, whether they like it or not, and [[spoiler: stealing the Relic of Destruction from the Slayer]] makes her and her bandit tribe prime targets for Hell's forces.

Raven genuinely doesn't get why the Doom Slayer won't leave her and her bandit tribe alone to continue their village raid. In her mindset, she firmly believes because William's powerful, he'd understand these weak villagers should be crushed and have their stuff taken. Unfortunately for her, while he agrees with her to an extent, that doesn't mean he'll let her practice her philosophy on innocent people who don't want to be involved.
* ThinkingUpPortals: Her Semblance allows her to open up portal to whomever she has a bond with. [[spoiler:How she has a bond with the Slayer, though, is a mystery]].

* EleventhHourSuperpower: In the last chapter of the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc, he gains the Blood Punch ability in his final battle with Dr. Merlot.
