* HumanAlien: He's not from Remnant, but he still looks completely human. Though he ''is'' half-human.

* AuthorityGrantsAsskicking: It's a shadow lord of Hell, after all. It also proves to be the toughest opponent, barring the Marauder, that the Slayer and Team RWBY fight [[spoiler:in Hell]]. It even would have actually killed a few of them had Ruby not awakened her Silver Eyes.

* AuthorityGrantsAsskicking: He's the defacto leader of the demonic cults on Remnant and is the most powerful warrior the planet has to offer, even giving the Slayer pause.

* BreakTheCutie: He was once an adorable, innocent child, but a series of unfortunate events culminating in him being tricked into killing an innocent beastkin broke that child forever.

* DropTheHammer: Her weapon of choice is ''Magnhild'', a hammer/grenade launcher she uses to crack Grimm and demons' skulls open with ease.

* DropTheHammer: Its weapon of choice is a massive war-hammer inscribed with demonic runes.

* DropTheHammer: As in canon, Valen wields the Argent Hammer Hellbreaker. Judging from how an insubordinate Sentinel backs off when he activates it as a warning, he's very proficient in its use.

* ShipTease: Aside from the fact that Yang is one the few people who genuinely enjoys the Slayer's company, Yang is rather appreciative of seeing William bare-chested in chapter 12 when he's getting bandaged up, deciding to stay and watch while Weiss and Ruby leave the tent blushing. One of VEGA's revealed thoughts [[spoiler:when Atlas is trying to rewrite him]] in chapter 26 has him note that Yang shows signs of being attracted to William. It even showed early in the same chapter, when Yang acts rather awkward and embarrassed after Ruby pointed out that Yang had unknowingly started calling him his nickname "BJ", which she previously discouraged Ruby from saying due to the sexual connotation around the name. In chapter 35, [[spoiler:when William is about to teleport Yang and Qrow out of Epsilon before he destroys it to contain the Demonic infestation and leaves Atlas to escape Ironwood's wrath and protect Team RWBY from the danger surrounding him]], he gives her his HeirloomEngagementRing. It's meant to be a keepsake so he will come back to them, but Weiss is quick to point out the fact that it's an engagement ring, and Blake quietly muses about the possible romantic implications of the gift while Yang becomes embarrassed about it.

* GutturalGrowler: In the revamped versions of when he first appears, he speaks in a deep, throaty voice.

* TheFogOfAges: Because he spent eons fighting Hell, he has trouble recollecting certain parts of the past, and even when he remembers, he doesn't do so with perfect clarity. It's not until the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc where he starts getting past this.

** In Chapter 24 he takes the [[spoiler:Sword/Relic of Destruction from the demons]], but to him it looks like just a normal long-sword. He wields it with as much efficiency as his chainsaw.

* CasanovaWannabe: Tries flirting with Ilia, but it doesn't go how he expects. Justified since they're in the middle of something important and she's pretty intolerant of humans.

* StupidNeutral: Raven wants nothing to do with Ozpin's war against Salem or the Doom Slayer's fight against Hell; she has the power to fight but decides to remain neutral, thinking both causes are useless. After the Slayer beats her, William and VEGA force her to pick a side. Hell is coming for everyone, whether they like it or not, and stealing the Relic of Destruction from the Slayer [[spoiler:and being the Spring Maiden]] makes her and her bandit tribe prime targets for Hell's forces; Raven's just delaying the inevitable.

* NeutralFemale: Raven wants nothing to do with Ozpin's war against Salem nor the Doom Slayer's fight with Hell. She has the power to fight but decides to remain neutral, believing both to be useless causes. After the Slayer beats her, William and VEGA force her to pick a side. Hell is coming for everyone, whether they like it or not, and [[spoiler:stealing the Relic of Destruction from the Slayer]] makes her and her bandit tribe prime targets for Hell's forces.

* UncertainDoom: The exact circumstances of his death are unknown, but it's implied by the Marauder that BJ could have saved him but failed.

* NinetiesAntiHero: Gritty name? Check. Murders his enemies in over-the-top and gory ways? Check. Antisocial, angry, cynical, and generally a jerk with a boatload of other personality issues? Check. However, he also ends up deconstructing this, as besides Ruby (who has seen his [[HiddenHeartOfGold soft spots]]), all these traits just make everyone either fearful of him at best or hateful of him at worst because he [[HeWhoFightsMonsters behaves no different from the monsters he's butchering]]. People, especially those within Ozpin's inner circle, see him as just as much of a threat to Remnant as the demons and ''not'' a hero. Not to mention that his unscrupulous methods ultimately cause him to [[spoiler:alienate himself from his allies and become the most wanted criminal on the planet]].

* EvilCannotComprehendGood: While Raven isn't evil per se, at least to herself in her Darwinist mindset, she doesn't understand why the Doom Slayer won't leave her or her tribe alone to raid a town. Unlike her, William still cares about the innocent and doesn't harm or kill anyone who doesn't deserve it. For that reason, it's why he's not going to stand by and let her raid a village of innocent people and steal their stuff.

* NotSoDifferentRemark: Raven tried to pull one of these on the Slayer. She believed that they were both strong warriors that didn't give a shit about the weak. Ironically, that's the difference between them. William may be a badass killing machine, but [[NeverHurtAnInnocent he never hurts or kills anyone who doesn't deserve it (at least not by intention)]]. On the other hand, Raven and her bandit tribe have no qualms about robbing and pillaging innocent people. Inevitably, a fight breaks out because of this in Chapter 38, when the Slayer finds Raven and her tribe in the middle of a raid.

* BoobsOfSteel: She's the most physically aggressive fighter on her team and has the largest rack. It causes her a few problems with her new armor since it compresses her breasts for practicality.

* YouAreNotMyFather: Taken up to eleven. After seeing and hearing all the horrors that her father unwittingly had a hand in, she denounces her entire family and gives up on wanting to better the Schnee name.

* DoesNotLikeShoes: Her legwarmers only cover the middle of her feet and leave her toes, heels, and soles exposed so as to use her Semblance. This causes her some disgust when her bare feet are stepping in blood, bone, and guts.

* AdaptationSpeciesChange: In canon, he's revealed to be [[spoiler:human, though with a heavy amount of CharlesAtlasSuperpower alongside being augmented to godhood by the Seraphim]]. In this fic, he's a [[HalfHumanHybrid half-human, half-Argenta hybrid]] [[spoiler:that has also been augmented to godhood by the Seraphim]].

* AdaptationalWimp: ''VERY'' downplayed, since he's still more powerful than 99.99% of all of the characters by several magnitudes, with a mere projection nearly killing Ruby, but WordOfGod has it [[spoiler: he's not the true Father like in ''The Ancient Gods'' because he considered it an AssPull (he even used those very words)]].

** [[LeeroyJenkins Recklessness]] and [[DidntThinkThisThrough shortsightedness]]. He most certainly never takes into consideration the consequences of his actions either until it's too late or he's a direct witness to them. Early on, in his slaughter of Grimm, he practically destroyed a town and left the civilians to clean up after him without any care to them. This isn't a result of LackOfEmpathy however, it's more so that he doesn't consider it because he's never once in his life ''had to consider it''. This leads to him not thinking through the consequences of what the destruction of Epsilon will cause, something Qrow calls him out on, and something he later acknowledges, though by then it's too late for him to even consider changing his ways.

* DirtyCoward: Leonardo jumped ship to Salem's side out of fear for his life, acting as her mole in Ozpin's inner circle. After witnessing what the Doom Slayer can do, he starts to have second thoughts and secretly tries to help him so that he can save him from Salem's wrath. However, [[EveryoneHasStandards the Slayer's utterly sickened by his cowardice,]] and it's likely he'll kill him instead.
* DramaticIrony: Lionheart still thinks that Ozpin and his circle don't know he sold them out to Salem's own. But thanks to VEGA telling them they have a mole in their ranks, they realize it's him. Hazel offers to "convince" him to return to their side, but Oz decides to leave him to the Slayer.

* PlayingBothSides: Leo plays both sides of Ozpin and Salem's war to save his own skin. He sells out Oz when the latter threatens to kill him, and he tries to defect again when he realizes the Doom Slayer might beat Salem and will probably kill him for his first betrayal. While William can understand his lack of a spine, he's sickened because Leo's a special kind of coward: the type that would let everyone die as long as they're the only one left. It's very likely the Slayer will kill him if Salem doesn't.

* AssholeVictim: After seeing the beatdown the Slayer gave to Raven in Chapter 38, Ozpin and Qrow agree that she had it coming for a while. The former says she got off easy considering all the lives she upturned from her banditry.
