!!The Doom Slayer / William Joseph "B.J." Blazkowicz III
-->''So you walk eternally through the Shadow Realms, standing against evil where all others falter. May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again.''
--->'''Corrax Entry 7:17'''
The legendary ancient warrior of Argent D'Nur and the greatest enemy of Hell itself. He awakens on Remnant within an Atlas facility, and so again begins his quest to slaughter all of demon-kind when their presence is made known.
----
* EleventhHourSuperpower: In the last chapter of the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc, he gains the Blood Punch ability during his final battle with Dr. Merlot.
* NinetiesAntiHero: Gritty name? Check. Murders his enemies in over-the-top and gory ways? Check. Antisocial, angry, cynical, and generally a jerk with a boatload of other personality issues? Check. However, he also ends up deconstructing this, as besides Ruby (who has seen his [[HiddenHeartOfGold soft spots]]), ''all'' these traits just make everyone either fearful of him at best or hateful of him at worst because he [[HeWhoFightsMonsters behaves no different from the monsters he's butchering]]. People, especially those within Ozpin's inner circle, see him as just as much of a threat to Remnant as the demons and ''not'' a hero. Not to mention that his unscrupulous methods ultimately cause him to [[spoiler:alienate himself from his allies and become the most wanted criminal on the planet]].
* AdaptationSpeciesChange: In canon, he's revealed to be [[spoiler:human, though with a heavy amount of CharlesAtlasSuperpower alongside being augmented to godhood by the Seraphim]]. In this fic, he's a [[HalfHumanHybrid half-human, half-Argenta hybrid]], [[spoiler:but still one who'd been augmented to godhood by the Seraphim]].
* TheAgeless: He physically stopped aging a long time ago, as he looks no different now than how he looked when he first entered Hell as a young adult when Argent D'Nur [[spoiler:suposedly]] fell. This would put him, at the bear minimum, over 10,000 years old.
* AncestralWeapon: After losing his original Super Shotgun, he eventually finds the Super Shotgun that his father had wielded.
* AntiHero: He's ''disturbingly'' enthusiastic about slaughtering the forces of Hell and is incredibly visceral in his methods, but he's still one of the heroes and has a rather strong sense of morals, so he's still doing things for the right reasons.
* AxCrazy: He ruthlessly rips Grimm, demons, Faunus, and humans to shreds with his ''bare hands'' in ways that are so disturbing and with such sadistic glee that even high-profile killers like Mercury balk at the sight.
* BagOfSpilling:
** Before the start of the story, his Chain-gun, Plasma Gun, Rocket Launcher, Gauss Cannon, and BFG-9000 are sent to Atlas while he was unconscious.
** He later loses his Super Shotgun in his skirmish with the Marauder, with said demon then claiming it for himself. He permanently loses it in his final encounter with the Marauder, which saw him destroy the Super Shotgun in battle.
* TheBerserker: A surprisingly tame variation in that he can discern friend and foe. He doesn't visibly emote (largely due to usually wearing his helmet) and has an overall stoic demeanor, but he will mercilessly tear his foes to bloody shreds.
* {{BFS}}: Anytime he picks up a sword, odds are it's really friggin big.
** He took Marlowe's chainsaw for himself. It qualifies because of its sheer size and how he wields it as if it were just a sword.
** In Chapter 24 he takes the [[spoiler:Sword/Relic of Destruction from the demons]], but to him it looks like just a normal long sword. He wields it with as much efficiency as his chainsaw.
* BigBrotherBully: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. He was shown to be a loving older brother, but there was a minor flashback in chapter 19 that heavily implies that he hit his younger brother, though he was also shown feeling absolutely ''horrible'' about what he did. He was actually so convinced that he'd become this that he ran away so he wouldn't hurt his brother ever again.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Had this for his younger brother. He's also developing this for Ruby, as their relationship is very akin to an older brother and his younger sister, not to mention that he tends to be very protective of her when she's in danger.
* BloodKnight: It's pretty obvious through the savage glee that he displays while fighting demons that he ''really'' loves what he does.
* BlueBlood: You wouldn't think so from looking at him, but after his father, the original Doomguy, killed the Icon of Sin and was left stranded on Argent D'Nur, he was elevated to noble status and started his own house. As a result, he ''is'' a noble for all intents and purposes. Cinder even comments that his true name sounds like nobility. It's also brought up in flashbacks that his mother's bloodline is connected to [[spoiler:the lineage of King Ormero, the first king of Sentinel Prime, meaning he also descends from royalty]].
* BoringButPractical: While many of his weapons are very high-tech, they're also rather straightforward in functionality and lack the dynamics of Remnant's multi-form weaponry. It's also because of how straightforward they are that they are so effective against the forces of Hell and creatures of Grimm.
* BreakTheCutie: He was once an adorable, innocent child, but a series of unfortunate events, culminating in him being tricked into killing an innocent beastkin, broke that child forever.
* BrokenAce: He's inarguably the greatest warrior ever conceived by Argent D'Nur. He's the bane of Hell who slaughtered countless demons, creating fear and strife in a race of dimensional conquerors. He's also accumulated so many tragedies ranging from the loss of loved ones, racial subjugation due to his Terran heritage, the destruction of his home planet, and enduring eons of physical and mental torment from both fighting through Hell and being subjected to horrid visions and nightmares while imprisoned, that it's nothing short of a miracle that he's still got ''some'' level of his humanity left.
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: He may be a violent demon slayer that terrifies the piss out of everyone he meets and is all-in-all, kind of a dick, but he has his moments showing that he's nicer than he looks and acts, especially around [[MoralityPet Ruby]].
* BrutalHonesty: He is in no way nice when he tells people what's what and is as blunt as a hammer when it comes to the truth.
** When Ruby was on the verge of puking from the gruesome ritualistic suicide they saw in a cathedral, the Slayer told her to suck it up. He even told Yang after she killed a Possessed to get over the whole "TheseHandsHaveKilled" stint since they're going to be killing them ''a lot'' from then on.
** He figures out that Blake is a Faunus in hiding very easily and calls her out on running from her problems rather than facing them.
** He's also more than harsh when he mentors Teams RWBY and JNPR when it comes to fighting. He pretty much calls Ruby "hopeless" when she doesn't have her weapon - [[CripplingOverspecialization which is pretty damn accurate]] - and calls Yang out on having very easily exploitable problems (such as her long hair and her temper) that can easily be rectified.
** He also calls out RWBY, JNPR, and Glynda for not stopping CRDL's bullying, since doing nothing about it is as bad as being a bully in his eyes.
* BullyHunter: He absolutely '''despises''' bullies, and wastes no time in putting Team CRDL in their place for how they treated Velvet. Unfortunately, how he goes about handling them is so brutal and vicious that people are less inclined to like him than the actual bullies he's trying to teach a lesson.
* ByronicHero: He is an attractive, brooding, cynical loner with a DarkAndTroubledPast and an obsession with revenge against those that took everything from him who is nonetheless still capable of empathy and attachment even after all that he's been through. Safe to say he qualifies.
* CelibateHero: While he acknowledges the attractiveness of those he allies with (particularly Yang), he has no desires to start a relationship with anyone and actively shuns the idea, both because he doesn't think much of himself in terms of looks and because he'd rather devote his time to wiping Hell off the face of existence.
* ChainsawGood: He starts out with the chainsaw he had in ''VideoGame/Doom2016'', but takes Marlowe's chainsaw for himself when his old one runs out of fuel.
* ChildrenForcedToKill: His first kill was at the age of 10 when he was forced to execute a beastkin prisoner as part of his initiation into the Night Sentinels.
* ClosestThingWeGot: This is the reason why the Mistral Council decides to reach out to him for help even after [[spoiler:the Epsilon incident]]. With their kingdom suffering from Grimm Rampancy and Marcus Black's cultists, combined with their Huntsmen forces being stretched thin thanks to Lionheart silently killing them all off, [[TooDesperateToBePicky they really don't have any other options]]. But they make it clear that they don't like him nor the fact that they have to rely on him.
* CombatPragmatist: Simply put, he ''does'' '''not''' play fair in a fight, as anything goes for him. Start talking too much? He'll shotgun blast your face while you're running your mouth. Just ask Cinder.
* ConditionedToAcceptHorror: Thanks to the eons of horrors that he's had to endure fighting the Slaves of Doom, he cannot feel any fear towards the horrors of the universe and would prefer to brutalize them on sight.
* CoveredInScars: His entire body is riddled with scars and closed wounds. Fighting Hell for thousands of years will do that to a guy.
* CruelToBeKind: While Ruby may be one of the few people that can bring out his nice side, he also often tries to push her away or tell her to give up on her dreams. He doesn't want someone so innocent and kindhearted to turn out like him, not to mention walking the path he does is more often than not a death sentence for anyone he associates himself with.
* CynicismCatalyst: It was less one traumatic event and more of a bunch over the course of his life. The first among them was the death of his mother, which was the turning point that put him on the path to what he'd become. Then he went through the grueling training of the Night Sentinels, then the death of his brother, then the death of his homeworld, then being trapped in a one-man forever war against the forces of evil...yeah, he's had a lot of these.
* DeadGuyJunior: He's the second of the Blazkowicz line (after Billy Blaze/Commander Keen) to be named after the most famous one of all.
* DecompositeCharacter: In this story, the Doomguy and the Doom Slayer are father and son. ''Videogame/DOOMEternal'' revealed that [[spoiler:the Doomguy and Doom Slayer are the exact same person]].
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: Practically his entire character ends up getting deconstructed in one way or another. He's ripped apart everything from the BullyHunter, to TheParagon, to TheUnfettered, and more. This is detailed even further in the [[DeconstructedCharacterArchetype/RemnantInferisDOOM deconstructed character archetype page for the story]].
* DestructiveSavior: Next-to-nothing survives when he fights. After slaughtering Grimm in a town, the civilians complained that he left them to clean up his mess. Qrow even calls him out on how he never stops to consider how destructive his actions are to those around him. Even the Slayer admits that Qrow is right about him and how he never put much thought into the consequences of his destructive actions.
* {{Determinator}}: This is the man who fought through Hell for untold millennia and ran on a mix of unending rage and unstoppable willpower who's damn well going to see his mission of wiping demonkind from existence through to the end. Of course, he's going to be this.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Tearing through demons, horrific abominations, and near-unkillable monsters is pretty much his day-to-day life.
* DoomedHometown: His home world of Argent D'Nur was destroyed by the Slaves of Doom thousands of years ago. Naturally, he wants revenge. Though this ends up being [[spoiler:averted when it's revealed by Merlot that half the planet still exists]].
* DoubleJump: Thanks to the mechanical extensions in his boots, he can give himself a mid-air boost to reach further heights.
* TheDreaded: He terrifies almost the entirety of the forces of Hell. Even the Grimm, despite being drawn to his boundless anger, are hesitant to fight him. His own allies are also very much afraid of him, finding him to be just as scary as Hell itself. After their first encounter, even ''Cinder'' and '''Salem''' fear him. Atlas goes so far as to program an entire alarm system around him since they view him as a complete threat. Even Ozpin, who has proven to be able to match the Slayer in combat, is genuinely frightened of him and doesn't believe he'd be able to stop him should he oppose them.
* DullEyesOfUnhappiness: Contrasting Ruby's bright and chirpy optimism, the Slayer's eyes are perpetually described as grey and lifeless from the lifetimes of horrors he's witnessed. The only time they radiate any happiness or even any sort of life is when he's either [[BloodKnight slaughtering demons]] or is [[RageBreakingPoint sufficiently pissed]] to the point where he's not expressing it through TranquilFury.
* EarAche: He's missing the helix of his left ear. It's not hard to imagine ''how''. It's later revealed that this was the result of when he was mauled by a gargoyle at ''ten years old''.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: Granted, he's not bad in the sense that he's evil, but he's definitely a mentally fucked up jackass. Despite all his issues, he still absolutely loves his mom and fondly remembers her. Flashbacks also imply that her death when he was a child was the turning point for when he started becoming more and more as he is now.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Based on his vague memories of the experiments Atlesian scientists performed on him, both the men and women couldn't help but marvel out how well built he is.
* FatalFlaw: To the point where one might say his greatest enemy isn't Hell, it's [[HisOwnWorstEnemy himself]].
** Wrath and RevengeBeforeReason. The Slayer is a walking ball of pure rage that destroys anything that pisses him off. But while his rage is part of what makes him so affective against Hell, it's also the lead cause for much of Remnant's strife, as his anger sets off damn near every Grimm on whatever continent he's on, meaning that he constantly endangers lives, which makes everyone either hate or fear him. To top it off, his UnstoppableRage against Hell is ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: '''Unstoppable'''. Once he gets started, nothing will stop him until he's sure that the demons are dead thanks to his obsession with revenge against their entire race. Besides his rage coming across more as sadism and terrifying more people, it also leads to him causing the [[spoiler:Epsilon disaster just to destroy the Slipgate technology so that Hell can't come back that way, leading to him crippling the kingdoms and turning all his allies against him]]. His focus on making Hell suffer at any cost is as much a detriment to the world around him and himself as Hell's invasion is.
** [[LeeroyJenkins Recklessness]] and [[DidntThinkThisThrough shortsightedness]]. He '''never''' takes into consideration the consequences of his actions either until it's too late or he's a direct witness to them. Early on, in his slaughter of Grimm, he practically destroyed a town and left the civilians to clean up after him without any care to them. This isn't a result of LackOfEmpathy however, it's more so that he doesn't consider it because he's never once in his life ''had to consider it''. This leads to him not thinking through the consequences of what the destruction of Epsilon will cause, something Qrow calls him out on, and something he later acknowledges, though by then it's too late for him to even consider changing his ways.
** His [[TheAloner aloofness]]. Really, a lot of the Slayer's personal issues that lead to the above flaws could either be avoided or at least mitigated if he just stopped isolating himself and ''let people in''. Even as far back as childhood, his first instinct upon seeing that he was turning out like his horrid grandfather was to run away so he wouldn't hurt his family, which not only ''did'' hurt them, but also led to a SelfFulfillingProphecy of him turning out as he has now.
* TheFettered: Strangely enough, despite being {{the unfettered}} more often than not, he has shades of this. As Ozpin points out, he has nothing left to lose, yet understands what everyone else stands to lose. He also has far more moral scruples about himself and his actions than he wants to admit, sometimes even wishing that he wasn't so empathetic due to struggling to cope with the guilt he carries.
* FightMagnet: Given how much of a bottomless pit of rage and fury he is, he attracts Grimm like moths to a flame.
* FireForgedFriendship: As they fight against the forces of Hell and the Creatures of Grimm, he acknowledges Ruby and her friends as comrades.
* TheFogOfAges: Because he spent eons fighting Hell, he has trouble recollecting certain parts of the past, and even when he remembers, he doesn't do so with perfect clarity. It's not until the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc where he starts getting past this and slowly begins to recall said events.
* FreudianExcuse: Being racially subjugated due to his father's heritage, losing his family and homeworld, being trapped in a several millennia war as the only thing able to stop the demons' advance alongside being manipulated and betrayed multiple times over his life. Yep, he's get plenty of reasons to be in a perpetually bad mood.
* TheGadfly: As shown when he flicks Weiss' nose for no reason, he's not exactly above messing with people for his own amusement.
* GeniusBruiser: While no super-genius, he is incredibly intelligent alongside his SuperStrength, being able to work and understand complex UAC equipment like it's second nature to him.
* GoodIsNotNice: He's firmly on the side of good, but ''good'' '''lord''' is he rude. He often ignores rules and the words of others if he thinks they'll get in his way and is extremely confrontational even with the people he's supposed to be allies with.
* GoodIsNotSoft: The countless demon corpses he's left in his wake can tell you that he doesn't play nice.
* GunNut: He ''really'' loves guns. He often shows excitement when he comes across a new firearm he can use for killing demons. Weiss even notes that he treats the guns in his arsenal better than he treats actual people.
* HalfHumanHybrid: Half-human (or terran to Argent D'Nur), Half-Argenta.
* HatedByAll: He's pretty much considered rather unlikeable in-universe due to his needlessly antagonistic, violent attitude towards almost everyone, with the few that actually like him being few and far between. Further cemented by the finale of the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc, where he [[spoiler:causes the destruction of Epsilon and unleashes a massive ecological and environmental disaster in trying to destroy everything the demons have corrupted, all but crippling Atlas and wreaking untold havoc on all the kingdoms. This leaves him as the enemy of not only Hell and Salem, but almost the entire planet, with Atlas wanting him dead more than anything and his only real allies amounting to the individual members of Team RWBY]].
* HeroicBuild: Anyone who just happens to see him outside his Praetor Suit note how seriously ''ripped'' he is. Then again, several lifetimes ripping and tearing the forces of Hell a new one makes for one serious workout routine.
* HeroicLineage: He's the son of the ''original Doom Marine'' and the descendant of the original "B.J." Blazkowicz of ''VideoGame/{{Wolfenstein}}'' fame. Needless to say, killing the forces of evil is in his blood.
* HeWhoFightsMonsters: While he has a degree of humanity left in him, his mission to reduce the demons to nothing has rendered him just as monstrous as the beings he seeks to kill. Many characters even note that he's nearly as bad as Hell itself.
* HiddenDepths: He does enjoy a few things outside killing demons, such as heavy metal music. He even calls it blasphemy that Blake doesn't like heavy metal.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: He has this dynamic with Ruby. He's practically Goliath compared to her, and she's not very tall to begin with.
* HumanAliens: He's not from Remnant, but he still looks completely human. Though he ''is'' a HalfHumanHybrid.
* {{Hunk}}: Yang certainly thinks so. Even the scientists at Atlas couldn't help but gawk at how defined his body was.
* IAmAMonster: The abuse he suffered from under his grandfather, being manipulated into killing an innocent beastkin, and the constant Hell that he causes others to go through just by associating with him has left him believing that he's nothing but a blight for everyone.
* IdenticalGrandson: His great-grandfather notes that, as a child, he looks like a younger, less-skinny version of Quirinus. This similarity apparently remains in the Slayer's later years, as when looking in a mirror he bitterly notes that he possesses similar looks to someone he ''does not'' remember fondly, and his grandfather definitely fits that criteria.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: Subverted. During his talk with Heather, he internally tries to justify the [[spoiler:destruction of Epsilon]] and the Grimm rampancy it brought about across Remnant as necessary to prevent Hell from invading, deep down he's ''riddled'' with self-loathing for his actions and isn't convinced that what he did was necessary at all.
* IHaveManyNames: The Doom Marine, the Unchained Predator, Doom Slayer, Hellwalker, Grimm Marine, and Specimen [=DN-SIL=], just to name a few.
* ILetYouWin: This is the only reason why Ironwood was able to take him into custody, as he didn't want to kill soldiers just doing their job.
* JerkassHasAPoint: After beating her, VEGA and William point out it doesn't matter if Raven or her tribe chooses neutrality. Hell's invasion of the planet is coming, and the Demons are coming for everyone. She's just prolonging the inevitable, and she has to choose a side in the war eventually.
* JerkassToOne: Of the crueler to one variety. On a normal basis, he's rather unpleasant and a complete dick to almost everyone around him, with the one or two people who he shows his soft spots to. To Ozpin, he's a lot more spiteful and petty than normal. Much of this stems from Ozpin keeping him in the dark on what he knows, something he ''despises''.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: The thousands of years he's spent fighting against the legions of Hell have done away any kindness that he has. He doesn't radiate a sunny disposition, and he makes sure ''everyone'' is aware of it. However, he's got his soft spots which show that for as much of a grouch as he is, there's a heart buried underneath all that brutal rage. Qrow even thinks of him as the biggest asshole in the universe, but he does acknowledge that underneath all his dickishness and crudeness, he's a good man.
* KarmaHoudini: Anti-hero example. The Slayer frequently commits actions that are either either amoral at best, or needlessly destructive at worst. Almost everyone has called him out on it and tried to apprehend or punish him for it...and none of it matters both because of how little he cares and because he's so powerful that their efforts to try and get him to face judgement for it amount to nothing. Even Yang, after escaping Epsilon, points out that the Slayer's sheer presence practically lords over the fact that he can get away with anything and there's not a thing they can do to stop him.
* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: By the end of the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc, his actions start catching up to him. [[spoiler: Him detonating Epsilon has caused his allies to all but abandon him given how much death will happen because of what he did, with him now being enemy number #1 to Atlas and no one who still cares for him being in any position to aid him, leaving him all alone once more after he follows Raven through her portal to escape the facility and is left abandoned in Mistral, trapped against not only the Grimm and Hell, but the entire planet that now wants him dead]]. Though even with the Slayer's CharacterDevelopment, he'd more than likely prefer things that way.
* LastOfHisKind: Three-fold example. He's the last of Argent D'Nur, the last of the Blazkowicz bloodline, and the last descendant of Earth once the First Age concluded. Though it turns out to be [[spoiler:subverted regarding Argent D'Nur, as only half of the planet was devoured by Hell and the Sentinels still live]].
* LegacyCharacter: He's the second person to carry the title of the Doom Marine. The first was his father, the original Doomguy.
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: He's this to Ruby, as he was a strong physical and emotional pillar she could depend on as she witnessed the psychological horror of Hell and their cults, as well as comforting her when she has nightmares and teaching her to be stronger. He also reminded Ruby of her mother, Summer, due to his Silver Eyes, of which she has only knows herself and her mother to have; combined with the tormented visions Hell sent her of her mother being mutilated in various ways, clinging to the Slayer is a measure of comfort to her. However, he's also a [[DeconstructedTrope deconstruction]], as this isn't treated as a good thing and many characters note that Ruby is ''too'' attached to the Slayer for her own good. When [[spoiler:The Slayer was teleported away from Team RWBY]], Ruby broke down crying and screaming, put up no resistance to being arrested, and after she was done crying Yang noted that her eyes were ''[[DullEyesOfUnhappiness completely dead]]''. She also shows that she's now willing to ''kill Weiss' father'', Jacques, to stop the Hell invasion, which is in part revenge for [[spoiler:him tethering the Slayer away]]. Even she begins to realize that her attachment to the Slayer isn't healthy and that she needs to let him go.
* MentorArchetype: He takes it upon himself to train Teams RWBY and JNPR so that they have a better chance at surviving the Slaves of Doom.
* MidSeasonUpgrade: Come the end of the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc, he starts gaining access to some of the abilities and weapons he had in ''DOOM Eternal'', such as his dash abilities, his new Super Shotgun, and Blood Punch.
* MightyGlacier: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. He's pretty fast on his own and so strong and durable that he can both tank hits that would kill anyone else with an Aura and punch so hard that he can one-shot almost anyone on Remnant. However, compared to the trained Aura users of Remnant, he's rather slow movement-wise. Chapter 31 sees him trying to get augmentations to his Praetor suit so he can keep pace with his faster allies. In Chapter 32, he gets his suit upgraded with the dash abilities he had in ''Eternal'', letting him avert this trope.
* MistakenForRacist: Blake and the White Fang assume he's racist against Faunus just because he killed a bunch of White Fang members and refers to Faunus as "Beastkin". He doesn't care who or what someone is, he kills them for being evil (or for trying to kill him first). "Beastkin" is simply the word for Faunus in Argent D'Nur.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: When he slaps Crescent Rose out of Ruby's hands, his inner thoughts show that he did feel terrible about it despite maintaining an air of apathy.
* NamedByTheAdaptation: His full name is William Joseph "B.J." Blazkowicz III.
* {{Narcissist}}: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. He's not self-absorbed, he just likes collecting the weird action figures of himself that he found on Mars. Though this gives him the impression of one, as Winter views him.
* NeverBeHurtAgain: It's implied that the reason he actively shirks off Ruby's attempts to befriend him (at first) is because after all he's been through, he doesn't want to risk the emotional pain of losing those close to him again.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: He does ''not'' screw around whenever he fights his enemies. When he's going to kill someone, he's '''going''' to kill someone, and he'll do whatever it takes to make sure they're a bloody stain on the wall.
* NotAfraidToDie: He's lost so much in his war against the Slaves of Doom that he honestly doesn't care about his own life.
* OlderThanTheyLook: He's several millennia old, but he physically appears to be in his early twenties.
* OneManArmy: Even by Remnant's standards, the Slayer is an army unto himself, effortlessly tearing his way through Grimm, demon, and Possessed alike. Not even Remnant's toughest warriors can hold a candle to him in this regard, and the only reason he was captured by Ironwood in the first place was because he allowed himself to be captured. Still, he has limits, since a large group of powerful Grimm or demons can give him troubles, and even he can't just defeat the entire Army of Atlas, especially when he's almost exhausted from fighting his way out of Hell again and Team RWBY is unconscious and defenseless.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: He's typically quiet and his rage is usually expressed through TranquilFury. However...
** When Deag Grav [[spoiler:kills Fox]], he outright ''ROARS'' with anger.
** He ''panics'' when he thought a little girl he encountered earlier was fatally injured during his fight with Neopolitan. Turns out it was just one of Emerald's illusions but still...
* OutsideContextProblem: In Chapter 37, Emerald and Mercury mention that they weren't expecting someone like the Slayer. The two thought the only enemies they'd be fighting were idealistic and heroic hunters and huntresses (which is what they got in canon); instead, they got a brutal killing machine that [[VillainKiller isn't afraid to end their lives, let alone tear them to shreds]].
* PhysicalGod: Tends to be considered a frightening god due to his insane strength and power. Weiss even goes so far as to describe him as a god of [[UnstoppableRage rage-incarnate]]. Qrow even starts to see him as a demigod when he [[spoiler:fights off the Brothers of Light and Darkness]].
* PowerArmor: His Praetor Suit, which amplifies his already absurd physical abilities and lets him tank some extremely deadly blows.
* TheQuietOne: He speaks, but only when he has to.
* RageAgainstTheReflection: {{Subverted|Trope}}. He almost punches his reflection in a state of pure anger, but he calms himself down enough and doesn't go through with it, deciding that he's got better things to do than remove glass from between his knuckles.
* ReputationApathy: William does whatever it takes to fight the Demons’ invasion no matter how brutal or gruesome, and has made it abundantly clear he couldn’t give two shits about what anyone thinks of him or his actions.
* RuggedScar: He has a facial scar that stretches from one end of his face to the other across the bridge of his nose. [[spoiler:His kidnappers inflicted this scar on him when he was only ''five'']].
* SirSwearsALot: He may not talk much, but when he does, he shows that he has one filthy mouth, with his thoughts often having a large amount of cursing. He tends to contribute highest to the story's swear count.
* SociopathicHero: He's of the [[UnscrupulousHero unscrupulous variety]]. He's a sadistic BloodKnight who doesn't care if he lives or dies, rips and tears his enemies in ways that even ''Franchise/MortalKombat'' would find disturbing, and antagonizes even his allies either out of annoyance or concern that they'll get too close to him. Mercury lampshades in Chapter 19 that, compared to the other Huntsmen working for Ozpin, he's a "psycho", and he's not entirely wrong in thinking this.
* SoleSurvivor: He's the last survivor of Argent D'Nur after it was destroyed. Turns out to be [[spoiler:subverted, as the Night Sentinels and half of Argent D'Nur are still alive]].
* SoulEating: According to him, he subsisted over the eons he was fighting by eating the souls of the demons he killed.
* SourOutsideSadInside: He comes across as an abrasive, rude, and aggressive jackass to almost everyone, and for the most part, he is. But beneath all that, he's a mess of a person tortured by eons of endless fighting and doesn't really know how to interact with people. He often uses his naturally unpleasant attitude to push others away from him because he's painfully aware that the life he lives is a death sentence and he'd rather no one but himself suffer through it.
* SpecialPersonNormalName: In regards to his first name at least. He's the legendary Doom Slayer; Hell's greatest enemy who fought and slaughtered their kind for thousands of years, singlehandedly defeating them...and his name is William. {{Averted|Trope}} in regards to his Argenta name: [[spoiler:Markacc Ateius]].
* StoryBreakerPower: Three different examples from him:
** He's a widely feared superhuman demon-killer with eons of experience, as well as a Silver-Eyed Warrior who has slain beasts the size of mountains. Whenever Team RWBY, JNPR, or Beacon Academy struggles with demonic attacks, he's never around to deal with them since they'd end too quickly if he did.
** His strongest weapons (Chain Gun, Plasma Gun, Rocket Launcher, Gauss Cannon, and BFG) are all taken by Atlas before the start of the story. If he had any of those, his fights would be ''too'' easy.
** The Sword of Destruction is basically an InfinityPlusOneSword in his hands that, after his MidSeasonUpgrade, allows him to hold his own against the [[spoiler:''Brother Gods'', albeit while they were weakened from having their power syphoned to fuel the Pain Engine]]. Because all of his fights would be boring if he could use it at all times, the story typically finds ways to either keep him from using it or just plain take it from him.
* StrongAndSkilled: Not only is he physically stronger than any Huntsman by miles, but he's also got several millennia of fighting experience and martial combat mastery due to his TrainingFromHell under the Night Sentinels and the eons he spent fighting Hell itself. Ren even notes that in his fight with Team CRDL, he used three different martial arts styles at once as he effortlessly dismantled them.
* SuddenlySpeaking: He never spoke in ''DOOM 2016'', but is more chatty here. This was originally because he took an oath of silence to never say a word until the Slaves of Doom were wiped out. When he fought Adam, he decided to go back on it so he can smack talk his opponent.
* SuperStrength: He's stronger than anyone else on Remnant, being able to shatter a person's Aura with a punch without his armor and physically tear through demons, Grimm, and humans like tissue-paper. Ruby even considers him to be stronger than both her father and Yang ''combined''. He can fire his weapons with ease; by contrast, an Atlas soldier who tried to test fire his Gauss Cannon was killed by the recoil.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: He and Ozpin's followers don't see eye-to-eye. He tends to get very fed up with Ozpin's secret keeping and most of the Beacon staff either dislike his violent, brutish nature, or find him too sociopathic in behavior to trust. About the only reason they try to tolerate him is because he's the only chance they have at stopping Hell's invasion of Remnant.
* TerrorHero: He may be on the side of good and a perpetual source of fear for the forces of Hell, but almost everyone on ''his'' side fears him as much as they do Hell itself. Him being a murderous SociopathicHero doesn't help in the slightest. Worth noting that he rarely ever uses this in a combative sense unless against demons. He mostly uses it so that other people will stay away from him.
* ThatManIsDead: Chapter 37's flashbacks show that after he was tricked into killing an innocent beastkin, he started going only by his Argenta name because he felt William wasn't a monster. Centuries later, he has no trouble going by his human name because as far as he cares, he's a monster no matter who he is.
* TimeAbyss: He's lived through the original war between Argent D'Nur and Hell, as well as the destruction of his home world, all of which were several thousand years ago, possibly far more than that.
* TookALevelInBadass: Not that he wasn't already a badass to begin with, but as shown in Chapter 38, he's gaining more of his old powers he originally received from the Divinity Engine and is getting stronger. VEGA implies that this is a result of his close proximity to the Sword of Destruction.
* TooSpicyForYogSothoth: When Salem uses her Seer Grimm to see and rewrite his memories to serve her, she ends up being completely overwhelmed by them and suffers from a VillainousBreakdown as a result.
* ToxicFriendInfluence: His presence in the lives of the members of Team RWBY has a corruptive influence on all of them. The longer they take part in his life, the more they accumulate many physical and mental scars ''at best'', or it all leads to them breaking down and going insane at worst. He even lampshades that he's a bad influence and laments how his presence has affected them.
* TranquilFury: How his rage is usually expressed.
* TroublingUnchildlikeBehavior: While he UsedToBeASweetKid, he had some rather unnerving behavioral moments in his childhood that foreshadowed what he would ultimately become.
** When he watched his father beat one of his kidnappers to death, he felt no fear or unease as he watched the bloodshed. He only felt ''fascination'' as he watched his father split the man's skull open.
** Even at the age of five, he develops a rather unhealthy interest in weapons and firearms. His parents and great-grandfather tried their best to discourage this. As can be seen, [[ForegoneConclusion they were completely unsuccessful.]]
* {{Ubermensch}}: He follows and adheres to his own rules and doesn't care how society-at-large views him or what rules they follow. He also ends up inspiring Ruby, though it's made clear in the story that this isn't exactly a good thing. Weiss and later Dr. Merlot even refer to him as this after seeing his ruthless take down of Team CRDL and his uncaring attitude to Atlesian authority when Cordovin tries to arrest him respectively.
-->'''Merlot''': Obnoxious. Irrelevant. No patience for authority and for those undeserving of it. You are truly something special, Doom Slayer. A true ubermensch - one who lives by his own standards, his own rules.
* TheUnfettered: ''Absolutely'' '''NOTHING''' will stop him from destroying Hell, even if it costs him his life. It becomes deconstructed towards the end of the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc, where his willingness to destroy Epsilon and potentially cause a massive ecological fallout towards Remnant to stop Hell's advance turns almost all his allies against him.
* UnscrupulousHero: To the point where the only thing that separates him from the very villains he's actively ''butchering'' without remorse is that he has ''some'' shred of human goodness left, such as his refusal to harm the innocent and his ability to care for others.
* UnwittingPawn: He ''loathes'' the idea of being a tool for others' ends, having been one time and again. Unfortunately, he ends up being just that for [[spoiler:Watts, who deliberately prevented him from being imprisoned so he would rampage and destroy Epsilon, crippling the kingdoms and spiting Ironwood in the process]].
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Back when he was growing up on Argent D'Nur, he was actually a rather happy and emotional child. It's even shown that he was an ActualPacifist growing up, refusing to fight against people who bullied him. Unless this was outright shown, you'd never believe that with how he grew up into the mass-murdering, demon-killing Doom Slayer.
* VagueAge: He's very old, but how old is never exactly stated. The most that is known about his chronological age is that he's well beyond 10,000 at this point. His physical age is that of a young adult, but the exact physical age is also left hanging.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He's willing to commit particularly morally aggressive actions should they deny Hell or Salem a foothold.
** He suggested killing Amber should doing so deny their enemies the Maiden's powers. Ozpin is certain that if he knew about the relics, he would destroy them as well.
** In Chapter 31, he intends to destroy Epsilon, something that everyone else is vehemently against due to the negative affects it would have on the world. The Slayer and VEGA still go through with it because the demons have caused permanent corruption and because Remnant has survived worse even before the demons arrived.
* WhatTheHellHero: He's been subject to this so many times by almost everyone. He makes it clear that he couldn't care less what anyone thinks of him. About the closest it gets to sinking in is when Qrow calls him out on how he never once considers the consequences of his actions...and he ''still'' goes through with it.
* WifeBasherBasher: When Blake has the misfortune of encountering Adam not long after running away from the White Fang, the Slayer didn't miss the look of hatred her ex shot at her. He puts two-and-two together, and proceeds to break Adam's left testicle.
* TheWorfEffect: The Marauder does this to him in Chapter 22, being the first demon to push the Slayer to the brink. Yang even lampshades that he's tougher than the Slayer.
* WorldsStrongestMan: He's far and away the strongest being on Remnant. The only people who can effectively match him in a fight are [[WorldsBestWarrior Ozpin]] and [[EvilCounterpart The Marauder]].
* WouldntHurtAChild: He hates the idea of innocent children getting hurt. He does feel immense guilt with his CruelToBeKind attitude towards Ruby, but pushes himself to do so for her own good, and outright panics when he thought a young girl was fatally wounded during his fight with Neopolitan.
* YouAreWhatYouHate: He's about as wrathful, cruel, and sadistic as the likes of Cinder, Salem, and the demons that he actively butchers. He also physically resembles his grandfather, whom he despises almost as much as Hell itself, but he tends to act just as aloof and aggressive towards those he cares for as his grandfather was.
* ZeroApprovalGambit: He's well aware that detonating Epsilon will result in everyone turning on him and leave him with no allies to speak of in his crusade against Hell, [[spoiler:but in the end, he still goes through with it, both because in his eyes, the damage Hell can do if anything remains is far greater than the fallout of his actions, and also because he'll finally be alone so that no one will suffer from being at his side anymore like Team RWBY did]].

[[folder:VEGA]]
!!VEGA
An A.I. that the Slayer backed up and has as part of his Praetor Suit. He's now connected to Vale's wireless network and aids humanity in fighting off the demons.
----
* TheAtoner: In helping facilitate the UAC's monstrous experiments in Argent Energy back on Mars, he intends to make up for it by assisting the kingdoms in stopping Hell's invasion of Remnant.
* BenevolentAI: He's overall nice and pleasant, offering everything he knows about Hell to Remnant's authority and intends to help in any way he can.
* BrutalHonesty: Despite being a {{nice guy}}, he doesn't mince words when he tells the teams that their chances of actually winning against Hell in a full-scale invasion are less than ten percent.
* ButNowIMustGo: He re-uploads himself back into the Slayer's suit when the Hell portal opens and [[spoiler:the Slayer and Team RWBY end up trapped on the other side]].
* DeadpanSnarker: When he's not being a SilentSnarker or a NiceGuy, he's this. He sends a lot of monotone jabs Caroline's way.
* GuileHero: He's an advanced AI who can only use his intelligence to win. He's even able to [[spoiler:convince the Brother gods not to go through with destroying Remnant after Deag Nilox corrupts the Sword of Destruction]].
* MissionControl: He often has to direct the Slayer and Team RWBY on where to go next.
* NiceGuy: It comes with being a BenevolentAI.
* NotSoStoic: He's normally pretty positive, but serious about the situation at hand. His torture at the hands of [[spoiler:SDC scientists]] leaves him heavily distressed.
* OnlySaneMan: During the conference with the Vale Council, he comes across as this compared to everyone else due to trying to be the mediator. Glynda even lampshades this.
-->'''Glynda''': I never imagined an AI would prove to have more sense than anyone in this room.
* OurGodsAreDifferent: Qrow seems to think so, considering that VEGA [[spoiler:''commanded'' the Brother gods to stop. As well, there is the fact that VEGA is [[TopGod the Father]] in ''DOOM'' canon.]]
* SilentSnarker: Not even ''he'' can stand Yang's puns, and he expresses it through deadpan silence.
* ShipperOnDeck: He has noticed that Yang has shown signs of attraction to the Slayer, and calls such a development "beneficial".
* StepfordSmiler: Beneath his jovial and positive behavior, his [[ColdBloodedTorture torture and attempted reformatting]] at [[spoiler:the SDC's]] hands reveals that he's ''riddled'' with self-loathing and regret for what he and Dr. Hayden did back on Mars.
* TheStrategist: He comes up with most of the battle plans for the fight against Hell and directs the Slayer and later team RWBY mid-combat.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Has this kind of dynamic with the Slayer at times, with the Slayer getting vexed by VEGA planning things behind his back and telling him what to do, and VEGA's often annoyance at the Slayer's unpleasant personality impeding their process making allies. At the same time, it's clear they both firm allies of each other with mutual trust between the two of them. For example, [[spoiler:when the SDC attempts to reprogram him, VEGA's cries of help visibly distress the Slayer, who quickly heads to rescue him]].

!!Team RWBY
[[folder:Ruby Rose]]
!!Ruby Rose
-->''Be wary of even the fair maiden's innocent, purest smile. For behind it there is a warrior's soul ready to be unleashed, untainted that it will withstand unholy damnation to bring even the Shadow Realms to heel.''
--->'''Corrax Entry 5:14'''
An idealistic Huntress-In-Training from the island of Patch and the leader of Team RWBY who has her idealism tested when the Slaves of Doom invade.
----
* AdaptationalIntelligence: While she was never dumb, she goes out of her way to question about her Silver Eyes where as in the series, she never once made any attempts to learn about them even when Ozpin was available to ask about them. Probably helps that there's another Silver-Eyed Warrior around to goad her into asking questions in this canon.
* BigNO: Screams this when [[spoiler:the Slayer is unexpectedly teleported elsewhere to stop him interfering with the Dr. Merlot's plans in Epsilon]].
* BloodKnight: PlayedForDrama. She starts to become more ruthless and sadistic toward her enemies (in particular the demons) as she's forced out of her idealistic mindset. This was something the Slayer actively wanted to ''avoid''.
* BreakTheCutie: Someone really needs to give her a hug. At this point, she's had to kill what was once human, been targeted by the demons multiple times, had horrific nightmares about her mother trying to drown her in blood and rot, almost got her womb torn out of her body by [[spoiler:Team GRVE]], and ended up [[spoiler:trapped in Hell]]. After all that, she breaks down in chapter 24, weeping that she just wants to go home. And just when she looks like she's recovering in chapter 26, [[spoiler: the Slayer is teleported away from her]] and it breaks her all over again. By the time Dr. Catrice gets them out, Yang notes that she looks completely ''broken''.
* BrokenBird: The CynicismCatalyst that is fighting Hell and actively trying to live up to the Slayer causes her to progressively become more ruthless and aggressive. Then [[spoiler:the [[LivingEmotionalCrutch Slayer]] gets teleported away from her]] and she more or less ''[[BreakTheCutie shatters]]'' and gets even worse.
* ClothingDamage: Suffers from this while fighting against the demons in [[spoiler:Hell]]. She's pretty much half-naked by the time they escape and is given Weiss' coat to preserve some modesty.
* CripplingOverspecialization: Her inability to fight without her weapon is one of her most glaring weaknesses. The Slayer is training her how to fight if she ever loses it, which is very likely. After her TrainingFromHell with the Slayer, she manages to instinctively kill a demon with her bare hands.
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: Her WideEyedIdealist mindset gets torn apart throughout the story, showing the problems someone as idealistic and upbeat as Ruby would have when forced to wake up to the reality of a CrapsackWorld that actively wants to kill her and tear Remnant apart on a level that even the Grimm would balk at. The end result is that not only is she forced to grow up faster than she can keep up with, but she also becomes disillusioned and broken as a result of the horrors and nightmares she's forced to deal with, and she starts losing it and becomes more bloodthirsty and crude in emulation of the Slayer who's helped her survive and deal with said horrors.
* DesignatedVictim: Since she's a Silver-Eyed Warrior, like the Slayer, but more inexperienced, she's often targeted by the demons, as she would become a massive threat to Hell if she were to ever realize her potential.
* {{Determinator}}: She doesn't care how many times she gets talked down, traumatized, or thrown about. She's ''going'' to become a Huntress and protect people no matter what.
* TheDreaded: After she awakens her Silver-Eyed abilities, the demons starts treating her with fear. She starts veering into TerrorHero status as even her friends and sister are scared of what she's becoming.
* DullEyesOfUnhappiness: After a long string of BreakTheCutie moments happening in near-rapid succession, her eyes no longer retain the youthful cheeriness they once did, now being replaced with the same lifelessness that the Slayer has.
* FullFrontalAssault: In Chapter 24, she fights a demon horde alongside the Slayer after having gone through extensive ClothingDamage that left her entire upper body exposed.
* HeroicRROD: After she awakens her Silver-Eye powers and blasts the Master of Erebus with a full-power Holy blast, she goes catatonic and spends the first part of Chapter 24 out cold.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Due to the Slayer frequently telling her to give up on becoming a Huntress and going home (more out of concern for what that life will do to her rather than looking down on her), she desires to prove herself to him and show that she can make it in his world.
* JerkassRealization: After she calms down and sees what she did to the unnamed guard and Jacques, she realizes what she was becoming and tearfully apologizes. By Chapter 31, she's even come to realize that her attachment to the Slayer is not good and how he's negatively impacted her.
* TheLeader: Like canon, she's this for Team RWBY.
* MoralityPet: She becomes one for the Slayer, as his nicer moments almost always tend to involve her in some way.
* PrecisionFStrike: Just to let you know how dire the situation is, she drops her first F-bomb and first swear in the story when they were [[spoiler:trapped in Hell]].
* PsychopathicWomanchild: After her sanity starts going down, she starts becoming more deranged and obsessed with killing as many demons as possible. When Yang killed one before she could, she actually ''whines'' about Yang stealing her kill, with the narration pointing out that she sounds petulant.
* PsychoticSmirk: While she was tearing apart demons [[spoiler:in Hell]] alongside Weiss, she sported one on her face, [[SanitySlippage showing what the conflict is doing to her.]]
* SanitySlippage: Fighting Hell '''really''' doesn't do her mind any favors. She's begun developing a wrathful blood-lust toward all demons.
* SinisterScythe: Her weapon: Crescent Rose.
* SourPrudes: Downplayed as she just hates it when people swear. She starts growing out of this as things get bloodier.
* StepfordSmiler: She's trying to maintain an upbeat demeanor despite all the trauma that fighting Hell is putting her through. She actually pulls it off so well that some people find it disturbing how someone can remain so childish and innocent given the traumatic circumstances. Even Yang finds it downright scary how she can act like her normal self even while caked in blood after killing a group of demons. Of course, the mask slips every now and then and she completely stops hiding it when she starts getting into an argument with Weiss. She also stops bothering with the facade when they end up [[spoiler:in Hell]].
* StrongFamilyResemblance: She's considered to be the spitting image of her late mother, Summer Rose.
* SuperSpeed: Her Semblance lets her move extremely fast to the point of appearing as a blur to even demons.
* TearfulSmile: Gives one when she sees the photo of [[spoiler:the Slayer and his family when he was a child]].
* TookALevelInJerkass: Combined with her SanitySlippage, she becomes far more callous and aggressive with her teammates, often glaring them into submission when they try to stop her from doing anything. Thankfully, she starts recovering after the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc.
* TraumaticSuperpowerAwakening: Seeing Yang nearly get crushed to death by the Baalgar demon causes her to awaken her Silver Eye powers.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Subverted. She thinks the Slayer is looking down on her and believes that she isn't cut out to be a Huntress, but she later figures out that he just really doesn't want her to turn out like him. Though she still tries to actively prove herself to him.
* WideEyedIdealist: She believed that becoming a Huntress would be a life of adventure and saving people from the Grimm...then the demons invade and her closest ally is a [[PoweredArmor power armored]], mass-murdering, {{one man army}} who's also a massive [[{{Jerkass}} Dick with a capital D]]. Her idealism starts going down the drain pretty quickly, [[StepfordSmiler despite all her efforts to hide it]].

[[folder:Weiss Schnee]]
!!Weiss Schnee
-->''She who is blessed by the Wraith of Winter, honor her always. For you shall be her shield, and she will be your sword.''
--->'''Corrax Entry 6:32'''
The heiress to the Schnee family.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: Besides her Summoning Semblance's canon powers, it also expands to being able to manifest demons that Weiss' killed as well.
* CovertPervert: When the Slayer is shirtless and getting bandaged up, Weiss can't help but sneak a peak at him.
* DieOrFly: She manages to activate her Summoning Semblance to save her life from demons.
* TheDogBitesBack: After years of living under her father's thumb and abusive control, she lashes out against him and ''punches him in the throat!''
* FantasticRacism: Like canon, she has a distaste for Faunus and a hatred for the White Fang. When her team sees the Slayer killing some of the White Fang off, she says that he's doing a service by getting rid of them.
* HandicappedBadass: In the aftermath of escaping Epsilon, she ends up fighting hordes of Grimm alongside her sister while her arm was broken and casted up. Doesn't stop her from kicking enough Grimm ass to impress Winter.
* IOweYouMyLife: She stands up to her sister for trying to take the Slayer into custody because he saved her life during the Grimm/demon assault on Vale. She only starts backpedaling after the Slayer kills other humans, despite them deserving it.
* ItGetsEasier: Something that shocks and horrifies her is how little she's concerning herself with the constant bloodshed, acknowledging that she's becoming desensitized to it.
* JerkassHasAPoint:
** She does bring up some solid arguments regarding Ruby and the Slayer: that her childish attitude isn't suited for surviving the demonic threats that now plague Remnant and that the Slayer's sheer negativity is causing the Grimm to become more erratic than they already are.
** She also had a good point that the Slayer wouldn't always be there to save them and that it's mostly thanks to him that they even survived the first day.
* MindRape: The Pain Elemental brutally subjects her to this by peering into her memories and mocking her "[[DysfunctionalFamily relationships]]" with the rest of her family.
* {{Tsundere}}: Toward her teammates and the Slayer. Her teammates even call her out on this.
* YouAreNotMyFather: Taken up to eleven. After seeing and hearing all the horrors that her father unwittingly had a hand in, she denounces her ''entire family'' and gives up on wanting to better the Schnee name.
-->'''Weiss''' ''(to Jacques)'': As of today, I want to be as far away from our family name as possible! It's damned now, thanks to YOU!
** However, this gets deconstructed later on as it's shown that, despite her father, the rest of her family still care about her and were heavily hurt by her words. Winter ignoring her as she leaves Epsilon gives Weiss the painful realization of what she's done.

--->'''Corrax Entry 8:6'''
A former member of the White Fang who left the organization after it became clear that they had become the monsters mankind treated them as.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Cats, since she's a cat Faunus.
* ButNowIMustGo: Discussed after they survive the Marauder. With Adam now knowing where she is, she decides to return to Menagerie to live with her parents. Though she never does make good on this due to getting taken by Epsilon labs.
* CoolSword: Her blade: Gambol Shroud.
* DeathSeeker: While [[spoiler:trapped in Hell]], she felt that she deserved to suffer and die for letting the White Fang become a terrorist cell and for letting the Slayer murder them.
* DirtyCoward: How the Slayer views her, since she tends to run away from problems or hide from them rather than face them. She also views herself as this for her frequent running away and seeing the Slayer as an "Anti-Adam" shield. Ultimately averted since she's still putting herself between the innocent and those who seek to harm them, something that even the Slayer and VEGA point out, with the Slayer even acknowledging that he was wrong about her.
* MoralMyopia: She's outraged at the Slayer for killing off White Fang members even though they were killing innocent people. This is despite her leaving the White Fang for that very reason. Dr. Catrice considers this to be a result of her suffering from persecutory delusions, resulting in her condemning the actions of her own kind, yet getting angry whenever they're called out on it since she'll associate it with racial prejudice.
* PottyFailure: She ends up peeing herself in her sleep while journeying to Mount Erebus. Too be fair, there aren't any bathrooms in [[spoiler:Hell]] and there was no way she'd be able to hold it for that long, something she uses to (embarrassingly) justify herself.
* ReversePsychology: She lashes out at the Slayer for using this on her when he repeatedly questioned what drove her to remain close to him despite knowing that he'd kill more and more of her former "brothers and sisters" of the White Fang.

--->'''Corrax Entry 6:21'''
Ruby's older half-sister, who is very protective of her and enjoys the thrill of battle.
----
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: She [[LadySwearsALot curses a lot]], which her canon counterpart doesn't do, to the point her calling [[spoiler:Ozpin]] a "bastard" is a PrecisionFStrike.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: She takes a lot of pride in her fighting prowess and isn't very receptive to criticism about it until after she's proven wrong, usually in ways that involve her losing a one-sided fight.
* TheBerserker: Something she's called out on is letting her anger control her in a fight.
* TheBigGal: She's the overall best fighter of her team and has the most physical strength.
* BigSisterInstinct: She's very quick to defend her sister whenever someone tells her off. However, this can also be a serious problem, as she tends to get angry at anyone who criticizes Ruby despite their criticisms being either valid or having good advice behind them. This is apparent when she gets angry at the Slayer for calling Ruby "hopeless" without her scythe, despite Ruby ''really'' needing to learn how to fight without it. In fairness, the Slayer isn't really [[BrutalHonesty nice when it comes to criticism.]]
* BloodKnight: She loves a good fight. Her Corrax entry above even states that the thrill of battle is her main driving force.
* ByTheHair: The Slayer warns her that this could happen to her due to her long hair. It comes to pass in her fight against the Marauder, where he grabs her by the hair and subjects her to MetronomicManMashing.
* ChivalrousPervert: She's a kind and loving person, but she ''really'' enjoys seeing the Slayer without his armor.
* CoolBigSis: She's one towards Ruby. She's also able to tell that Ruby is progressively getting more unstable thanks to all the violence she's been subjected to and wants to make sure she gets help for it.
* GreenEyedMonster: Downplayed. She got pretty jealous of the Slayer when Ruby goes to him for comfort regarding her nightmares and not her, but she never becomes outright caustic towards the Slayer as a result of this.
* GroinAttack: Suffers from this in the last encounter with the Marauder in chapter 29. It was extremely painful for her and it expectedly had her incapacitated for the rest of the battle.
* HeroicSecondWind: After being beaten and bruised to the point where she can barely stand, she uses her Semblance when it reactivates to take in all the internal damage she suffered from and get back in the fight when she was fighting demons on the plateau [[spoiler:in Hell]].
* HypocriticalHumor: In Chapter 25, she calls Weiss out for saying "shit-kicked", despite being far more foul-mouthed than the heiress.
* LadySwearsALot: She's the most foul-mouthed member of Team RWBY.
* NobodyTouchesTheHair: She's very proud of her long hair, and made it clear that she had no intention of either cutting it or doing it up even if it was a liability. One ass-kicking from the Slayer convinced her to go through with it, but she still hates having to do it.
* OffhandBackhand: While fighting Imps at the base of the Mount Erebus fortress, she casually punches one into a wall without looking at it.
* PungeonMaster: She enjoys making puns, and they get on everyone's nerves. Not even ''[[ArtificialIntelligence VEGA]]'' can stand them.
* ShipTease: Aside from the fact that Yang is one the few people who genuinely enjoys the Slayer's company, Yang is rather appreciative of seeing William bare-chested in chapter 12 when he's getting bandaged up, deciding to stay and watch while Weiss and Ruby leave the tent blushing. One of VEGA's revealed thoughts [[spoiler:when Atlas is trying to rewrite him]] in chapter 26 has him note that Yang shows signs of being attracted to William. It even showed early in the same chapter, when Yang acts rather awkward and embarrassed after Ruby pointed out that Yang had unknowingly started calling him his nickname "BJ", which she previously discouraged Ruby from saying due to the sexual connotation around the name. In chapter 35, [[spoiler:when William is about to teleport Yang and Qrow out of Epsilon before he destroys it to contain the Demonic infestation and leaves Atlas to escape Ironwood's wrath and protect Team RWBY from the danger surrounding him]], he gives her his HeirloomEngagementRing. It's meant to be a keepsake so he will come back to them, but Weiss is quick to point out the fact that it's an engagement ring, and Blake quietly muses about the possible romantic implications of the gift while Yang becomes embarrassed about it. This trope is averted come Chapter 43, with WordOfGod confirming in the Author's Notes that nothing's going to come of whatever feelings Yang has for the Slayer, as they're firmly one-sided.

!!Team JNPR
[[folder:Jaune Arc]]
!!Jaune Arc
A member of the Arc bloodline and the leader of Team JNPR.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: He does much better in his early fights than he did in the main series, even killing some demons before he unlocked his Aura.
* BadassNormal: Jaune had already hacked down Possessed in Vale and survived an airship crash before Pyrrha unlocked his Aura.
* TheBerserker: He gets possessed by a Berserk sphere during the attack on Beacon, turning him into this.
* BoringButPractical: His sword and shield may not be anything flashy, but they are effective in a fight given how effectively they cut through the Possessed during the assault on Vale. They are also shown to be extremely durable and don't suffer much wear-and-tear from fighting demons.
* CassandraTruth:
** An Atlas soldier does not believe that he helped defend Vale against the Possessed because his sword is completely undamaged (since his sword is very well built to stand up in battle), and believes Jaune hid like a coward, telling him to go home and make room for the real Huntsmen.
** He also confesses that he doesn't belong at Beacon after the fight with [[spoiler:Professor Peach]]. Since there wasn't any context given and he was behaving rather deliriously when he said it, everyone just assumed that he was having a mental breakdown, and he [[SureLetsGoWithThat has no interest in correcting them]].
* DarkSecret: He faked his transcripts because he never went to combat school and is terrified of people discovering this. He panicked when the Slayer came close to figuring it out.
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: He deconstructs the side/background character. Jaune is ''painfully'' aware that he's nothing but a footnote in the Doom Slayer's story and that he doesn't matter in the end. His driving force for getting stronger is so that he can stand up to the forces of Hell and actually mean something to the overall conflict.
* DrivenToSuicide: The demons' voices that he keeps hearing taunt him over his faking of his transcripts to get in and how he doesn't belong, trying to get him to jump off a building and kill himself. Thankfully, Pyrrha arrives and stops him before he tries anything.
* HearingVoices: After his possession from the Berserk sphere, he starts hearing the voices of the demons in his head.
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: After his team and Coco's stop [[spoiler:Professor Peach from killing the Fall Maiden and are entrusted with safeguarding Beacon and the Fall Maiden]], he starts cracking from the weight of the responsibility given to him and says that he doesn't deserve to be at Beacon. The demons constantly mocking him about how he doesn't belong adds to this.
* TheLeader: He's the leader of Team JNPR.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Jaune gives a small one to Team CRDL when they try to bully him...right after he breaks Cardin's nose, face, and jaw in a rage.
-->'''Jaune:''' Grimm. Demons. Cultists! We got enough problems without having to deal with you assholes! You want to keep acting like jocks, take it somewhere else. The rest of us are trying to survive another day here on this...this-! (''realizes what he did to Cardin'') [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone Oh..oh, shit...]]
* TranquilFury: When he was beating down Cardin, his teammates note that he was disturbingly calm even when he was repeatedly stomping on Cardin's face.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Nora Valkyrie]]
!!Nora Valkyrie
An incredibly energetic girl and Ren's companion.
----
* BigDamnHeroes: Her first meeting with Pyrrha and Jaune involved her jumping in and smashing a Revenant's head and chest plate to bits.
* DistractedByTheSexy: When talking to Jaune, she briefly gets sidetracked when she saw Ren without his shirt on while the team was recovering from the previous demonic attack.
* GenkiGirl: Just like in canon, though in the face of a demonic invasion it comes off as a major case of...
* StepfordSmiler: Like Ruby, Nora smiles in the face of all the death and violence during Hell's attack on the planet. But frankly, she's near to snapping from all the pressure when she goes on a rant, if not for Ren calming her down.
-->'''Jaune:''' Someone's ''somehow'' in a good mood.
-->'''Nora:''' Oh, silly. The walking dead, demon invasions, my favorite shirt burning in a fire, I'm practically ''screaming'' on the inside. It's you guys that's keeping me grounded.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Pyrrha Nikos]]
!!Pyrrha Nikos
A tournament champion from Mistral.
----
* TheAce: She's the best fighter and student of Team JNPR, being a widely famous champion tournament fighter.
* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: She's less of a [[ExtremeDoormat doormat]] in this fic. In canon, when Jaune told her to leave him alone and that he wanted to become stronger by himself, she reluctantly accepted his wishes and didn't start training him until he came to her later. Here, after Jaune's breakdown, she makes it clear that she's going to train him whether he likes it or not and he won't stop her from doing so.
* CombatPragmatist: She takes advantage of when [[spoiler:Peach]] starts talking to attack her, exploiting her lowered guard.
* DynamicEntry: En-route to Beacon she escapes from her burning airship and the clutches of the Possessed by leaping off it and sky-surfing her way down on her shield using her Semblance to control it.
* ShutUpHannibal: After [[spoiler:Professor Peach's possessed corpse]] tells them of the futility of humanity's existence on Remnant, Pyrrha confidently tells it to shove off.
-->'''Pyrrha''': Life isn't a sham. That's what ''you'' monsters believe.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Lie Ren]]
!!Lie Ren
A young man from the village of Kuroyuri and the best friend of Nora Valkyrie.
----
* BayonetYa: His pistols have dagger-blades attached to them, which functions like a bayonet.
* GunsAkimbo: He wields twin pistols with blade attachments.
* TheGunslinger: He's the team's marksman.
[[/folder]]

!Supporting Characters
!!Vale
!!!Beacon Staff and Associates
[[folder:Professor Ozpin]]
!!Professor Ozpin
The headmaster of Beacon academy.
----
* BigGood: Constitutes as one for Remnant, as he is both the main leader of the good guys, with Ironwood and Glynda deferring to him, as well as the best warrior on Remnant.
* BrokenPedestal: He's long since become this to [[spoiler:Professor Peach]], who turned against him due to learning the truth behind his forever war with Salem and believing him to only be stalling the inevitable.
* DarkSecret: He keeps a lot of secrets, but the biggest is his past as [[spoiler:Ozma]].
* FlashStep: He can move so fast he appears to be teleporting even to the eyes of professional Huntsmen. He pretty much vanished and pinned Winter (actually Neo) down before anyone could react.
* LightningBruiser: He can keep pace with the Slayer and can move so fast that not even Glynda, a veteran Huntress, can keep track of his movements when he starts slaughtering the forces of Hell.
* MercyKill: Once he first sees that the Possessed are permanently reduced to thralls for Hell with no hope for restoring them back, he apologizes and proceeds to put it out of its misery.
* TheOlderImmortal: While the Slayer may be several thousand years old at his very youngest, Ozpin is much, ''much'' older due to [[spoiler:him being from before Salem's rebellion against the Brother Gods and by extension, before the existence of Hell and demonkind]].
* OffscreenMomentOfAwesome: He's so far, the only person on Remnant to have fought the Slayer in single combat and actually matched him.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: He's normally calm and collected, with even his rare moments of anger being expressed through TranquilFury. When the Slayer makes his intentions to kill the Brother gods known, Ozpin outright ''explodes'' with rage, something that shocks Qrow since he's never seen him lose it.
* PyrrhicVictory: He didn't lose to the Slayer in their fight (it was a draw at most), but he took several hits. Per the rules of their agreement (the Slayer wins if he lands one hit), he has to give the Slayer free reign of where he wants to go.
* RageBreakingPoint: The Slayer's intent to kill the Brother gods is what finally causes Ozpin to lose his cool.
* SayingTooMuch: In his anger at the Slayer, he ends up calling him [[spoiler:the Great Slayer]], which tips the Slayer off to something. Needless to say, he regrets this immensely.
* TimeAbyss: Much like the Slayer and Salem, he's extremely long lived, having fought a shadow war with Salem for untold millennia through reincarnation. He's even older than the Slayer since he predates [[spoiler:the original genocide of pre-history Remnant and as such, predates the existence of the demons]].
* TranquilFury: When he saw the demons kill several of his students and staff, forming a large hill of corpses, Glynda saw no emotion on his face, but it becomes clear that he was ''seething'' with fury at their killers.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: He's willing to do some less than moral actions if it means stopping Hell, such as using Ruby as bait to lure the cultists stationed at Beacon out of hiding.
* WorldsBestWarrior: His thousands of years of combat experience net him as this for Remnant. He's also capable of matching the Doom Slayer, who's the WorldsStrongestMan.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Glynda Goodwitch]]
!!Glynda Goodwitch
The combat instructor of Beacon Academy and Ozpin's right-hand woman.
----
* BreakTheBadass: Surprisingly (or not), passages showing her POV suggest that she seems to be taking the ongoing demonic invasions, deaths of students, and [[spoiler: Team GRVE and Professor Peach's betrayals]] the worst out of all of Beacon's staff.
* ItIsDehumanizing: After VEGA [[spoiler:re-uploads himself back into the Slayer's suit after he and team RWBY get trapped on the other side of the Hell portal]], she gets enraged by what she perceives as manipulation and starts referring to the AI as "it".
* SecretKeeper: She knows about Ozpin's past and his battle against Salem, but she's locked out on certain things such as his time as [[spoiler:Ozma]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Peter Port]]
!!Peter Port
A rather boisterous teacher at Beacon Academy.
----
* BloodKnight: After the demons' first invasion of Beacon, he realizes he's developed a taste for killing them.
* DisappointedInYou: How he responds to [[spoiler:Team GRVE's betrayal]].
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Qrow Branwen]]
!!Qrow Branwen
The uncle of Ruby and Yang as well as Ozpin's right-hand man.
----
* BedFullOfWomen: When Hazel goes to wake him up, he's sleeping with multiple prostitutes.
* BreakTheBadass: His nieces [[spoiler:getting sent to Hell]] caused him to going an even larger than normal alcoholic binge and engage in SexForSolace with random prostitutes.
* ClusterFBomb: Lets out a large myriad of curses after the fight with Marcus ends with [[spoiler:his nieces getting sucked into the Hell portal]].
* DeadpanSnarker: He's never one to shy away from giving snark to his peers, often in tired monotone. When he and the Slayer fight alongside each other at Epsilon, he snarks at both the Slayer and their current predicament.
* DrowningMySorrows: After his nieces get [[spoiler:trapped in Hell]], he spends some time drinking away his pain and sleeping with prostitutes.
* EveryoneHasStandards: He's immensely loyal to Ozpin, but he draws the line at using his niece to lure cultists out into the open.
* FireForgedFriends: He starts out hating the Slayer as much as anyone else, but he grows to respect him as they fight together when trapped in Epsilon and looking for Merlot. Ultimately subverted though when he goes against the Slayer to try and stop him from detonating Epsilon and giving him a major TheReasonYouSuckSpeech.
* ItsAllMyFault: Thanks to the bad luck caused by his Semblance, he has a bad tendency to blame himself for whenever things go wrong for his allies and family. For starters, blames himself for Ruby & Yang [[spoiler:getting trapped in Hell]], and he's revealed to have self-loathing issues regarding Summer's death.
* JerkassHasAPoint:
** He tends to be a fair bit crude and brazen, but he really isn't wrong when he tells Tai that bringing Ruby and Yang back to Patch is at best a temporary solution and won't protect them forever.
** His TheReasonYouSuckSpeech towards the Slayer is also in the right. He's right that the Slayer has never once considered how his actions hurt those around him nor has he cared for how nobody else can endure the hardships that he's gone through and that he just expects others to deal with it just because the alternative could be worse. Even the Slayer acknowledges that Qrow is completely right about him.
* TheJinx: His Semblance causes bad luck for those around him, be they friend or foe. He also thinks of himself as this, as he believes he "jinxed" Ruby and Yang when they [[spoiler:end up trapped on the other side of the Hell portal.]]
* TheMentor: Was this to Ruby when it came to scythe combat.
* NumberTwo: He's this to Ozpin, being his most trusted and loyal supporter.
* ProperlyParanoid: He doesn't trust the Slayer in the slightest and believes that if stopping Hell meant killing one of them, then he'd do it without hesitation. Since the Slayer was fully willing to kill Amber if it denied Hell or Salem the Maiden's power, he has a point.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: At the end of the Kingdom of Tyrants arc, gives a scathing one to the Doom Slayer, condemning him for never considering how the consequences of his actions affect the people around him and how not everyone can be as strong as he is in enduring the same hardships he's gone through. The Slayer actually considers this...[[spoiler:then knocks Qrow out and still goes through with blowing up Epsilon]].
* SexForSolace: After his nieces [[spoiler:end up trapped in Hell]], he spends his time sleeping with prostitutes to ease his GuiltComplex.
* SinisterScythe: Uses one and taught Ruby how to fight with one.
* STDImmunity: Averted. Marv Talg claims that he has Gonorrhea (aka the clap), much to Qrow's frustration. It's heavily implied that he got it from his hangover and night with multiple prostitutes.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Subverted. He goes picking a fight with the Slayer despite knowing what he was capable of, but he only did so to prevent Ruby from learning anything Ozpin didn't want her to know yet.
* UndyingLoyalty: He places his absolute faith in Ozpin and follows the man's orders, even if it means keeping his family in the dark about knowledge that would be useful for them to know.

[[folder:Hazel Rainart]]
!!Hazel Rainart
The older brother of Gretchen and a Huntsman working for Ozpin.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: Since Gretchen was never killed here ([[spoiler:until Chapter 39 that is]]), he never joined Salem and works alongside Ozpin.
* BigBrotherInstinct: He has every intention of ripping the bolts out of Marcus's face for [[spoiler:converting Gretchen into a cultist]].
* TheBigGuy: Among Opzin's inner circle, he's physically the strongest as well as the largest, needing to duck to enter through doorframes.
* FeelNoPain: His Semblance lets him ignore all physical pain.
* ThatManIsDead: He's okay with the Atlesian specialists using brutal means to interrogate [[spoiler:his sister]] because he acknowledges that she died when Marcus poisoned her mind.
* WouldntHurtAChild: When Gretchen claims her brother would murder anyone, kids included, if they got in his way, Hazel claims he'd never do that; ironically, that's what his canon counterpart tried to do multiple times.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Amber]]
!!Amber
The current Fall Maiden, though her power was split in half following an encounter with Cinder.
----
* BroughtDownToBadass: She only has half of the Fall Maiden's true power, but since half is still enough to let someone hold out against the Slayer, that still makes her one of the strongest people on Remnant. She still has enough power to completely destroy a [[spoiler:demon-possessed Professor Peach]] with a single attack.
* NayTheist: She acknowledges the existence of the Brother gods, but she clearly hates them and is spiteful towards them.
* PastLifeMemories: A variation because she isn't a reincarnation. When she wakes up from her coma, she says she experienced the memories of the past holders of the Fall Maiden's power [[spoiler:and the memories of the Wraith they came from, which is why she already knows about the Doom Slayer]].
* SparedByTheAdaptation: She recovers from her coma and is less likely to be killed by Cinder, but it has yet to be seen if she'll still die later on.
* RageAgainstTheHeavens: She very openly tells Ozpin that she's hoping that the Slayer will make the gods pay for their actions.
* RazorWind: Her maiden powers allow her to manipulate wind into deadly slashes to cut down her opponents. She uses this to kill [[spoiler:Peach]] when she reawakens.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Professor Peach '''(Spoilers)''']]
!'''Warning! This character is very spoiler heavy. Due to this, all spoilers within this folder are unmarked.'''
!!Professor Peach
One of the teachers at Beacon Academy who is later revealed to be in league with Hell and started the demonic assault on Beacon.
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: She was one of Beacon's teachers in canon. Here, she's in league with Hell and is responsible for Beacon's woes with the Slaves of Doom.
* AffablyEvil: She betrayed her friends and joined with Hell, but she still expresses her usual personality. If anything, her meekness makes her status as an AntiVillain and regretful WellIntentionedExtremist all the more apparent.
* AntiVillain: Her reasons for betraying her friends are because she's thoroughly convinced that the war between Ozpin and Salem will never end and that damnation is the only salvation. She also shows regret for what she feels she must do.
* ApologeticAttacker: She clearly regrets having to betray her fellow Huntsman and apologizes during her fight with JNPR, C(F)VY, and Glynda.
* AscendedExtra: She only gets mentioned maybe once or twice in the main series and never physically appears, but she's given more prominence here as the one responsible for the demon assault on Beacon.
* BewareTheQuietOnes: While she's the least assertive of Ozpin's staff, she's still an incredibly strong Beacon teacher and professional Huntress. She also sold out her colleagues in favor of Hell.
* DemonicPossession: The demons take over her as a last resort when she's about to lose.
* DespairEventHorizon: The knowledge that Salem couldn't be killed, the reality behind Ozpin's war with her, and its unending nature broke her to the point where she made a pact with Hell to end it for good.
* EtTuBrute: Glynda ''did not'' take her betrayal well.
* GreenThumb: Her Semblance allows her to control plant life, letting her burrow through the ground and reach the Fall Maiden so she could kill her.
* HalfTheWomanSheUsedToBe: Amber kills her by launching {{razor wind}}s powerful enough to slice her in half.
* ImMelting: What's left of her corpse melts into a bloody puddle after the demons stop possessing it.
* ShrinkingViolet: She's incredibly meek, polite, and shy, which makes her betrayal of Remnant all the more shocking.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Out of all the cultists seen so far, she's not only the most polite, but genuinely believes that what she's doing is the best solution for all of Remnant. The other cultists are either psychopathic blood knights (Marcus) or are out for revenge against Ozpin (Team GRVE).
* WalkingSpoiler: It's rather hard to talk about her without bringing up the fact that she's the one responsible for the demonic assaults on Beacon and betrayed her fellow Huntsman before the events of the story.

* BigNo: Outright screams this when [[spoiler:Fox starts getting torn apart by Deag Grav]].
* CoolShades: Part of her attire.
* GatlingGood: Her handbag turns into an extremely powerful minigun. Perfect for riddling demons with bullets.
* HandbagOfHurt: She likes to use her handbag to beat the shit out of her opponents.
* ItsPersonal: After Deag Grav [[spoiler:kills Fox]], the bastard is at the top of her "to kill" list.
* TheLeader: Of Team CFVY.
* LongRangeFighter: Fights mainly at a longer range with her Gatling bag, and shows some difficulty when opponents close in on her.
* SignatureHeadgear: She always wears a beret.

* BladeBelowTheShoulder: He uses twin wrist-mounted blades that extend past his shoulders.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Fox gets impaled in the chest by Deag Grav and before having his corpse torn apart from the inside.

!!Velvet Scarlatina
A second-year rabbit Faunus and member of Team CFVY.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Rabbits, due to being a rabbit Faunus.
* FantasticRacism: Frequently on the receiving end due to being a Faunus, often being harassed by Cardin and his cronies.
* GrudgingThankYou: While she was grateful that the Slayer helped protect her from team CRDL, she was very disgruntled that he had to be the one to protect her (she considers him to be as frightening and monstrous as the demons) and not the teammates that she trusts with her life.
* TheLoad: How she feels about herself since she's a second-year student, yet she allows herself to get bullied and picked on by first-year delinquents.
* WhatTheHellHero: Calls her teammates out on not being there to help her when she was being bullied by team CRDL.

* {{BFS}}: His weapon of choice.
* TheBigGuy: He's Team CFVY's powerhouse and both its biggest and tallest member.
* GentleGiant: He's much bigger than his teammates, but he's also extremely caring towards them and does all he can to protect them.
[[/folder]]

!!!Team CRDL
[[folder:Team CRDL]]
!!Cardin Winchester
Beacon's resident bully and the leader of team CRDL.
----
* AdaptationNameChange: In canon, his mace was called The Executioner. Here, it's called [[MythologyGag The Great Communicator]]. Though this is understandable since the weapon wasn't officially named at the time.
* TheBully: Or at least he tries to act like one. [[BullyHunter The Slayer isn't having it, however.]]
* BullyingADragon: He has a chronic need to antagonize people that could easily kick his ass, like Velvet and the ''Slayer''. When it came to the Slayer, it goes poorly for him.
* TheLeader: Of Team CRDL.
* {{Sadist}}: He seems to have a pathological need to make people suffer for his own amusement, and it's not just toward his fellow students. During Hell's first assault on Beacon he and his cronies take the time to torment a wounded Imp instead of killing it.
* TooDumbToLive: He challenges the Slayer, knowing full well what he's capable of, and still intends to fight him even after getting his leg broken by the guy.
!!Russel Thrush
----
* SatelliteCharacter: Doesn't have much character beyond being one of Cardin's cronies.
!!Dove Bronzewing
----
* SatelliteCharacter: Doesn't stand out aside from being a fellow bully alongside Cardin.
!!Sky Lark
----
* JerkassRealization: He's the first of his team to have this. After Jaune lays into him with a "TheReasonYouSuckSpeech", Sky actually realizes he's right and that they are utter jackasses for no reason.
* SatelliteCharacter: He doesn't do much beyond being one of Cardin's associates and fellow bullies. He does start getting some CharacterDevelopment after Jaune lays into him and his team.

----
* AdaptationalVillainy: She died as a Beacon student in canon. [[spoiler:She serves the forces of Hell here and didn't die as a Beacon student.]]
* AgeLift: Canonically, it's revealed through ''Amity Arena'' that she's Hazel's twin sister. Here, she's much younger.
* AlasPoorVillain: In Chapter 39, [[spoiler:after Jaune fatally wounds her, she succumbs to despiar and tearfully says she doesn't want to die. It's only when she's at death's door does she let go of her anger and [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone realize what she's done]]. 543* AscendedExtra: She was a PosthumousCharacter in canon and simply part of Hazel's backstory and justification for hating Ozpin. Here, she's alive ([[spoiler:until Chapter 39]]) and given some screen-time. [[spoiler:Not to mention she's a cultist.]]
* DefiantToTheEnd: Subverted. In Chapter 39, [[spoiler:she's initially throwing diatribes at Hazel and Team JNPR in her dying moments. However, as the realization of her mortality sets in, she utterly breaks down from an overwhelming mixture of guilt, sadness, and fear]].
* EtTuBrute: The reaction of the teachers and students to [[spoiler:her and her team's betrayal. From the teachers, it's laced with DisappointedInYou.]]
* FaceDeathWithDespair: Happens towards the end of Chapter 39 [[spoiler:Gretchen gets overwhelmed by a mixture of sadness, guilt, and fear as she dies, reducing her to a sobbing mess in the face of death. She tearfully pleads to her brother that she doesn't want to die and dreads ending up in Nekravol]].
* FeelNoPain: She shares her brother's Semblance that allows her to ignore pain.

* OCStandIn: She serves as this since nothing is known about her canon counterpart barring that she's Hazel's deceased sister.

* AdultsAreUseless: Averted. He has every intention of getting his family as far from all the carnage and chaos as possible.
* PapaWolf: He's very protective of his daughters and fully intends to get them away from all the violence. He's also more than willing to go head-to-head with the ''Doom Slayer'' when he causes Ruby to cry, despite being repeatedly told and knowing that trying to fight the guy is a fool's errand.

----
* AintTooProudToBeg: He outright begs the Slayer not to go through with his plans to destroy Epsilon because doing so will have catastrophic consequences for all of Remnant.
* BreakTheBadass: In the last chapter of the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc, his meeting with [[spoiler:Davoth, the Dark Lord, who throws his character flaws in his face, leaves him thoroughly shaken]].
* FourStarBadass: He's the general of the Atlas Military and one of the strongest Huntsman around.
* GreenEyedMonster: It becomes very apparent that he's incredibly envious towards the Doom Slayer and VEGA for how effective they are against the Grimm and demons while he and his military are barely holding the line. It has more to do with the fact that he, his technologically advanced kingdom, and his military aren't the ones striking blows against the invaders, but one angry jackass and his unchecked A.I. partner who refuse to acknowledge his authority are.
* InspectorJavert: He's heavily against the Slayer being outside of Atlas custody and only allows it because he at least understands that they need him to fight Hell. By the end of the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc, he fully dives into this, though given that the Slayer [[spoiler:detonated Epsilon and caused a massive disaster that crippled Atlas and all four kingdoms]], he's actually got pretty good justifications in hunting the Slayer down.
* ItIsDehumanizing: He never refers to VEGA as anything more than "it".
* JerkassHasAPoint:
** He's not the easiest to get along with, but he's right in that the Doom Slayer is a WildCard and that he's not really trustworthy considering that his rage drives the Grimm into a frenzy and that his wrathful attitude towards almost everyone makes him impossible to control.
** He orders that Ace Ops try and kill the Slayer, but considering that at that point, the Slayer is trying to destroy Epsilon ([[spoiler:and succeeds in doing so]]), which would have large-scale ecological and destructive consequences for the four kingdoms as well as effectively cripple Atlas, he's pretty justified in at least trying to prevent the Slayer from succeeding.
* TheStoic: While the gruesomeness of the situation can push him into NotSoStoic early on, by later chapters, he's become perpetually stone-faced regarding the horrors of fighting Hell. He doesn't so much as bat an eye at when a Possessed that was thought to be dead springs back up, instead just casually unloading three bullets into it. Ace Ops is outright unnerved at how stone-cold he is towards everything that's happening.
* WrongGenreSavvy: Apparently he thinks he's the TheHero fighting against an AlienInvasion, when in reality he's just another poor schmuck caught up in a CosmicHorror {{Revenge}} story.

* InspectorJavert: Similar to Ironwood, she's heavily against the Slayer having free run of the place, but she's more openly vocal about it.
* NamedByTheAdaptation: Her weapon has yet to be given a name in canon. Here, it's called Myrtenhain.

* AdaptationalJerkass: In the show proper, she was at least a JerkWithAHeartOfGold who ultimately recognized that team RWBY and JNR's presence in Atlas was needed, could acknowledge her faults after some sufficient pushing, and doesn't let her pride stop her from defending her people. Here, not nearly as much.
* ArbitrarySkepticism: Despite the fact that '''all''' of Remnant knows what they're facing, she blatantly refuses to believe that the Slaves of Doom are actual demons from Hell.
* BreakTheHaughty: After witnessing the horrors Epsilon Labs committed and realizing she was a part of that, she loses all sense of bravado. When she confirms VEGA's findings to Ironwood, she's completely timid and guilt ridden.
* BringMyBrownPants: When her first meeting with the Doom Slayer goes sideways it leaves her pants feeling a bit heavier.
* ButtMonkey: Put her in the same room as team RWBY, VEGA, and the Slayer, and watch her get verbally and physically thrown around. Considering what a self-righteous, racist asshole she is, it's very well deserved.
* DirtyCoward: When the demons invaded Atlas Academy, she fled and abandoned the citizens to die.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Implied. Merlot states that her knowing the full extent of Epsilon's experiments would lead to Ironwood and the Council coming down on their heads, meaning that even she'd balk at what they're doing. When Ironwood explains to her the reality of what's going on and what Epsilon's experiments are really about, she's utterly horrified.
* EvilOldFolks: She's an elderly woman and is about on par with Jacques in {{jerkass}}ery levels.
* FantasticRacism: Outright insults the Slayer's race as barbaric and calls him an "illegal alien".
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Even within the Atlas Military, absolutely ''no one'' can tolerate her because of what a smug, holier-than-thou prick she is.
* HateSink: She's smug, racist, and generally a complete asshole. Every character that has interacted with her completely hates her, and all her negative traits make the reader do the same.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: According to Merlot, she's completely unaware of the truth behind what Epsilon labs has been doing and the full extent of their experiments.
* NasalTrauma: The Slayer slams her face into a retinal scanner with enough force to break her nose.
* ReassignedToAntarctica: VEGA implies she was sent to Epsilon for displaying cowardice during the demonic invasion of Atlas Academy.

* TheLeader: He's the leader of the Ace Ops.
* StressVomit: He's first introduced vomiting in the bathroom after a recent demonic invasion of Atlas. Considering that the entire place is a giant, bloody house of corpses both demon and human, it's pretty understandable.

He's also psychologically abusive to his son and keeps him under his thumb at all times, conditioning him to always play the role of TheDutifulSon.
* BerserkButton: Anything that defies his control will rile him up. He outright manhandles and yells at his daughter just for trying to ''comfort'' Ruby.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Weiss' dialogue with the Slayer heavily implies this, since she's incapable of denying it. It's fully shown in the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc where it's not only revealed that he's got his people messing around with world-ending tech for the sake of profit and fame, but he's also [[spoiler:capturing, torturing, and experimenting on Faunus and humans]], though it's revealed that he didn't know about that last one.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: For what it's worth, Jacques was legitimately disgusted with the experiments Merlot did and was horrified by everything that happened under his nose. Even the Slayer acknowledges that he's being genuine that he had no idea any of that was happening.
* {{Fingore}}: He gets all of his fingers on his left hand cut off by Ruby.
* ItsAllAboutMe: He's apparently so self-centered that his own daughter subconsciously believes that he'd be perfectly willing to sell out his world to Hell if it meant gaining a foothold in their conquest, if her nightmares are anything to go by.
* KarmaHoudini: Jacques got off scot-free after the incident in Epsilon as the court decided he wasn't guilty of the horrors made by [[spoiler:Merlot and his research staff]]. Velvet is sore about it and thinks Jacques paid his way out until Weiss corrects her.
* SuddenlyShouting: After Weiss punches his throat, he goes from TranquilFury to screaming at his guards to get team RWBY out of his sight.

* ParentalNeglect: She doesn't have much of a reaction when her son informs her that Weiss is being held in the detention levels or that she assaulted Jacques.
* ParentsAsPeople: She ''does'' genuinely love her children and wish for them to be safe, it's just that her situation under a controlling and emotionally abusive husband has left her unable to do anything and the only thing she really knows how to do at this point is drink her pain away.

----
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: A major part of why she's more open-minded with the Slayer than the rest of Atlas is because he still saved her life despite the fact that she was one of the scientists that experimented on him.
* DumbBlonde: A complete inversion. She's blonde, but she's incredibly intelligent as both a scientist and doctor, even psychologically analyzing members of Team RWBY (and later Willow Schnee) and identifying their developing mental disorders, as well as ones they may have always had.
* FemaleGaze: She couldn't help but take a peek at the Slayer's naked self before he puts his suit on. It left her feeling disgusted with herself afterward.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Blonde and one of the few Atlas scientists with a moral compass.
* HiddenDepths: She may come across as a passive scientist, but she's actually a capable fighter, having been a student in Atlas academy before dropping out during her fourth year to become a doctor.
* IOweYouMyLife: Her kindness towards the Slayer, and her helping Team RWBY escape confinement, stem from her gratitude toward the Slayer for saving her despite her part in the experiments performed on him.
* MartialPacifist: She's actually a fairly skilled fighter, but she hates violence and will only fight when she sees no other option. The entire reason she dropped out of Atlas academy was because she couldn't stand the violence and aggression.
* NiceGirl: She's genuinely friendly compared to the other Atlas scientists and tries to keep everyone from killing each other.
* ThouShaltNotKill: She took an oath as a doctor to "do no harm". This is reflected in how she rescues team RWBY, merely incapacitating their guards and doing no more damage beyond that.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Among the scientists working at Epsilon Labs, she's one of the very few who lacks the typical Atlas ego and is genuinely nice.

* EvenEvilHasStandards: Malicious scientist working for Salem? Yes. but even he's utterly repulsed by the Incubus and his [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil depravity]].
* WildCard: His loyalty is rather dubious. He assists in the experiments performed at Epsilon Labs, yet when the Slayer is [[spoiler:teleported away, he makes it so that he isn't imprisoned]], and he's shown to have his own plan for the Relic of Destruction.

* ArcVillain: Of the ''Kingdom of Tyrants'' storyline.
* {{Cyborg}}: A combination of surviving the cataclysm at Mount Glenn and a teleporter mishap at Epsilon has reduced him to having half his body replaced with cybernetics.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: He scoffs at Aelia's desires for her son to live a peaceful life, considering it to be "sheltered".
* {{Expy}}: The author said his design is based on Pinky from the 2005 ''Film/{{Doom}}'' movie.
* ForScience: The main drive behind his actions is this, regardless of whether they have horrific consequences like jump-starting another invasion from Hell.
* InLoveWithYourCarnage: His only reaction to watching the Slayer rip and tear through SDC guards is to call it beautiful.
* MadScientist: He's even called this in the narration, and given the experiments he's done at Epsilon as well as the fact that he's aiding in trying to open another Hell portal, it's clear that he is unequivically ''insane''.
* NamedByTheAdaptation: He was just called Merlot in ''VideoGame/RWBYGrimmEclipse''. He's given a first name here.

[[folder:Raven Branwen]]
!!Raven Branwen
A mysterious swordswoman that just happens to be Yang's biological mother, Qrow's sister and Taiyang's ex-wife.
----
* AintTooProudToBeg: After a fierce fight that ends with her tribe members scattered or dead, Raven begs the Doom Slayer not to force her to join the fight against Hell; she even starts crying.
* AssholeVictim: After seeing the aftermath of the ass-beating the Slayer gave her, Ozpin and Qrow agree she had it coming (though they do feel some pity for her); the former says she got off easy considering all the lives she upturned from her banditry.
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: Raven is the strongest of the Branwen Tribe; being a trained Huntress and [[spoiler: the Spring Maiden]] helps. She leads her bandit through her Darwinist creed they all follow: "The weak die, the strong live. Those are the rules." Even then, she's still no match for the Doom Slayer.
* BatmanGambit: Pulls one off at Epsilon during the final chapters of the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc, [[spoiler:using her mysterious connection to the Slayer to open a portal to him, just as he's temporarily immobilized after setting the complex to self-destruct, to steal the Relic of Destruction; before counting on him to follow her through another portal so that she can strand him in Mistral, most likely so that he can continue his crusade far away from a now vengeful Atlas]].
* BigDamnHeroes: She saves Taiyang and several civilians from a Megoliath.
* BreakTheHaughty: In Chapter 38, Raven learns the hard way who's the strongest and who's the weakest. The Slayer kills her tribe members and leaves her at his mercy as she ''begs him'' not to force her to join the fight against Hell.
* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: While William wants to kill Raven, the reveal that [[spoiler: she's the Spring Maiden]] and [[spoiler: still has the Relic of Destruction]] stops him from doing so. Another reason is if he does kill Raven, he'll ruin his connection with Yang. In his head, the worst-case scenario is she'll become a suicidal berserker who would eventually get herself, Ruby, and the rest of their allies killed because of her recklessness, spurred on by the fact that someone she thought was her friend had killed her mom. However, this gets subverted later in Chapter 38. The Slayer decides "screw it" and tries to kill Raven anyways. Yang could hate him for all he cared; there was no way he was risking letting the power of [[spoiler:the Spring Maiden]] land in the hands of Hell.
* CoolMask: She wears a mask modeled after a Nevermore.
* CorneredRattlesnake: [[spoiler:She ends up revealing herself to be the Spring Maiden when she's forced to tap into her power to keep the Slayer at bay after he beats her.]]
* DeusExMachina: Lampshaded in the title of the chapter (Deus Ex Corvida) where she debuts. She shows up to remove the final barrier between the Doom Slayer and Deag Nilox.
* DirtyCoward: This version of Raven is just as much of a coward as her canon counterpart.
** She left Ozpin's and Salem's war because of how hopeless it was like in canon.
** After the Slayer defeats her, she begs him not to force her to join in the fight against Hell under the pretense of her not standing a chance against them.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: While Raven isn't evil per se, at least to herself in her Darwinist mindset, she doesn't understand why the Doom Slayer won't leave her or her tribe alone to raid a town. William still cares about innocent lives, unlike Raven, and doesn't harm or kill anyone who doesn't deserve it. For that reason, it's why he's not just going to stand by and let her raid a village, kill some of the people there, and steal their stuff.
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: Her brutal beatdown by the Slayer's hands left Raven heavily injured, and she had to crawl back to Ozpin's side because she had nowhere else to go. If you want to get technical, her Semblance can only make portals with people she has a bond with, which she doesn't have with her bandit tribe aside from Vernal (who wasn't there during the village raid). She had no choice.
* IronicEcho: "The strong live, the weak die." After defeating her, the Slayer mocks her with her own philosophy.
* TheLeader: Raven is the leader of the Branwen Tribe and the strongest out of all of them... until the Slayer comes, kills her tribe members and forces her to retreat.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Her fight with the Slayer left Raven with two broken ribs, massive bruising around her torso, and severe Aura exhaustion. Ozpin thinks that she ''got off easy''.
* NotSoDifferentRemark: Raven tried to pull one of these on the Slayer. She believed they were both strong warriors that didn't give a shit about the weak; ironically, that's the difference between them. William may be a badass killing machine, but [[NeverHurtAnInnocent he never hurts or kills anyone who doesn't deserve it (at least not by intention)]]. On the other hand, Raven and her bandit tribe have no qualms about robbing and killing innocent people for their stuff. A fight breaks out due to this in Chapter 38 when the Slayer finds Raven and her tribe in the middle of a raid.
* ParentalAbandonment: She abandoned her daughter during the latter's infancy.
* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: When a fight is about to break out between the Slayer and Raven during a town raid, some bandits on her side wisely choose to leave so they don't get killed. When William starts winning the battle, Raven makes a portal to move the survivors away, and she does the same to escape him.
* SocialDarwinist: Raven firmly believes in the survival of the fittest. She genuinely doesn't understand why the Doom Slayer won't leave her and her bandit tribe alone to continue their village raid. In her mindset, she thinks that because William is powerful, he'd understand these weak villagers should be crushed and have their stuff taken. Unfortunately for her, while he agrees with her to an extent, that doesn't mean he'll let her practice her dogma on innocent people.
* StupidNeutral: Raven wants nothing to do with Ozpin's war against Salem or the Doom Slayer's fight against Hell; she has the power to fight but decides to remain neutral, thinking both causes are useless. After the Slayer beats her, William and VEGA force her to pick a side; Hell is coming for everyone, whether they like it or not. By [[spoiler:stealing the Relic of Destruction from the Slayer]] and [[spoiler:being the Spring Maiden]], Raven painted massive targets on herself and her bandit tribe. It's only a matter of time before they go after them.
* ThinkingUpPortals: Her Semblance allows her to open up portals to whomever she has a bond with. [[spoiler:How she has a bond with the Slayer, though, is a mystery]].
* VillainHasAPoint: She may be a ruthless bandit, but she does have a point when she calls the Slayer out on him having also killed innocent lives in Chapter 38, considering how many people died in the wake of his actions [[spoiler:at Epsilon]]. The Slayer calmly fires back that he never intends to do that while Raven is very deliberate in her slaughter. Though considering the Slayer was lashing out at himself in self-loathing for what he did earlier in the same chapter and struggling to justify himself, he may agree with Raven's point more than he wants to admit.
* WhyDidYouMakeMeHitYou: [[spoiler:After outing herself as the Spring Maiden and blasting the Slayer with her power in an act of pure desperation, she blames him for making her do that.]]

* AscendedExtra: Was one of the many Huntsmen sent to their deaths offscreen in canon by Leonardo. Here, she survives and becomes a reluctant ally of the Doom Slayer.
* SparedByTheAdaptation: Dies offscreen in canon. Rescued by the Doom Slayer in this fanfic.

A Hell Priest and the one originally responsible for the corruption of Argent D'Nur, he arrives on Remnant in search of power in order for Hell to continue his conquest.
----
* AdaptationSpeciesChange: In canon, he's a corrupt Argenta. Here, his form is that of a summoner. Subverted in that it's just a form he took to later materialize into the world.
* AmbiguousGenderIdentity: It's unknown if this thing even has a gender to identify itself as. Though one of its titles is that it is a "Prince of Doom", so it may possibly be male. However, when given a POV, "it" is the only term used to describe the Deag Grav, so it's still ambiguous. It's later confirmed that he's male.
* ArchEnemy: He's undoubtedly the Slayer's biggest target, as he's responsible for the ruin of his home-world. He's on the top of Coco's "to kill" list to for [[spoiler:killing Fox]].
* TheDragon: He was this to the Dark Lord of the 4th age while also serving as TheHeavy.
* HeroKiller: He's responsible for the destruction of Argent D'Nur, meaning that many Night Sentinel deaths are under its belt, and [[spoiler:he kills Fox]] in the story.
* IHaveManyNames: Cardinal of Hell, Prince of Doom, Keeper of the Blood Temple.
* KickTheDog: Its not enough that he [[spoiler:kills Fox and throws his body at his still-grieving team, but he also turns what was left of him into a Possessed, forcing them to kill him a second time]].
* KnightOfCerebus: The story was dark enough as is, but it still has it's moments of lightheartedness, humor, and levity in between. When this guy shows up? '''All''' bets are off! He even [[spoiler:kills Fox, establishing that from now on, [[AnyoneCanDie none of the heroes are safe.]]]]
* LaserBlade: His form can summon "Hellblades" from his wrists. These blades are powered by Argent-Energy.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: He makes it a point to personally deal with anything that could interfere with his plans.
* TimeAbyss: He's has been around since the destruction of Argent D'Nur and long before even that.

* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: Yang puts it down for good by punching it in half.
* NoNameGiven: It isn't referred to by any personal name, just its title.
* SinisterScythe: Its weapon of choice is a double-bladed scythe generated by Argent energy.

[[folder:Marcus Black]]
!!Marcus Black
A Heresiarch and worshiper of the Slaves of Doom and Mercury's father.
----
* AbusiveParent: If Mercury being reminded of him by watching the Slayer's brutality is any indication, he wasn't a very good father. He spends some time beating his son to a pulp when he meets him again.
* ActionDad: Not a very good father, but he did single-handedly save [[spoiler:Team GRVE]] from certain death.
* AdaptationalBadass: In canon, he never did anything substantial due to getting killed as part of Mercury's backstory. Here, he's the leader of the demon cults and can match Qrow, Ozpin and even the ''Slayer'' in combat.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Sort of. Since we never see him in canon, his personality is debatable. Here, he's at least given a few redeeming qualities such as his lack of tolerance for Faunus racism.
* AdaptationalVillainy: Being a remorseless assassin is bad enough. Being a deranged cultist working for Hell is a few pay-grades worse.
* AxCrazy: He's a violent psychopath through and through. His idea of a perfect world is a ruined one surrounded by blood, death, and destruction. Not to mention that his son is reminded of him by watching the visceral brutality of the Slayer.
* {{BFG}}: Saved [[spoiler:Team GRVE]] with the ''Unmaker''. It doubles as a {{BFS}} as well.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: When he fuses the Unmaker to his arm it becomes this.
* BloodKnight: He thrives off of bloodshed and death. His idea of paradise is battling on a hellscape for eternity, and helping hell coincides with this.
* TheCorrupter: He's responsible for [[spoiler:converting Team GRVE]] to Hell's side.
* DirtyOldMan: He makes some pretty lewd comments about Yang toward the Slayer and Blake toward Adam, and he's old enough to have a son who's in his late teens to early twenties. He qualifies.
* DoWrongRight: He's thoroughly pissed at Mercury not for killing him, but because his screw-up of a son couldn't even kill him ''right''.
* EqualOpportunityEvil: He has no problems with Faunus and treats them as equals.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: He may be a fanatical demon worshiper, but he's no racist. He even went out of his way to find and kidnap Faunus haters for his cult sacrifices.
* FacialHorror: Thanks to Mercury kicking him in the head repeatedly, he has metal bolts welded into his skull to keep his face together.
* PayEvilUntoEvil: Stealing Adam's Semblance and reducing him to the demon cults messenger boy on threat of torture "Argenta style" is a horrid thing to do, but considering what a racist, sociopathic nutcase Adam is, it's completely deserved.
* PowerArmor: Wears a dark mockery of the Slayer's Praetor Suit, complete with cultist ruins covering it.
* PowerParasite: Downplayed. He can steal Semblances, but he cannot use them. Instead he uses them to open Hell portals.
* RecoveredAddict: According to him, he was as much a heavy drinker as Qrow.
* SparedByTheAdaptation: Mercury still tried to kill him, but he survived it unlike canon.
* VirtueIsWeakness: He is impressed by Doom Slayer's strength and fighting prowess, then says if it wasn't for his desire to protect humanity, he would be the perfect warrior.

[[folder:The Marauder]]
!!The Marauder
A mysterious demonic warrior that hunts Team RWBY and the Slayer.
----
* DefiantToTheEnd: As the Slayer is about to kill him, he continues to rant at his enemy that there are more of him and they won't stop until the Slayer and his allies are dead.
* TheDreaded: One of the few, if only, demons that even the Slayer shows some level of caution towards. Even other demons are shown to want to stay as far away from him as possible.
* EvilCounterpart: He appears to be one for the Slayer, as he wears armor similar to his and has Night Sentinel iconography all over his body.
* FallenHero: He used to be a Night Sentinel and a Silver-Eyed Warrior before becoming a demon.
* FantasticRacism: Before he fights the White Fang in Chapter 27, he refers to them as "beasts that walk on two legs", and in Chapter 29, he calls Faunus "unruly beasts", "feral spawn", and "freaks". He also despises the Slayer's [[HalfHumanHybrid nature as a half-Argenta]], insulting him by calling him a "half-breed" in Chapter 29.
* GodzillaThreshold: Implied by the Broken-Horned Baron that setting him loose is when they ''really'' want their enemies dead beyond a doubt.
* HealingFactor: He can easily recover from having his neck snapped. Even the onslaught of pain the Slayer unleashed on him heals after a short while. Decapitation seems to be the one thing he cannot recover from.
* ImplacableMan: ''Good lord'', '''Nothing''' stops this guy! Even snapping his neck or backing an armored fighting vehicle over him will just hold him off for at least a couple minutes. It took Weiss impaling him with a massive icicle and holding it in a position he couldn't escape from and the Slayer using his Argent energy-axe to decapitate him to finally do him in.
* NeckSnap: How the Slayer takes him out the first time. It doesn't keep him down for long, though.
* OneManArmy: He's strong enough to overwhelm the Slayer and Team RWBY, so he's most certainly this. It took the combined forces of the Slayer, teams RWBY and SSSN, and Sienna Khan's portion of the White Fang to finally do him in.
* OutsideContextProblem: Unlike the other demons, the Slayer doesn't know anything about him. The fact that his body bears Night Sentinel symbols suggests that his origins are more connected to Argent D'Nur than to Hell. It's later confirmed that, like canon, he's a corrupted Night Sentinel.
* PunchCatch: He effortlessly catches Yang and the Slayer's punches.
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: He's the defacto leader of the demonic cults on Remnant and is the most powerful warrior the planet has to offer, even giving the Slayer pause.
* WreckedWeapon: After the Slayer kills him with his own axe, the Slayer then snaps it over his knee.
* YourHeadASplode: The sheer heat from his axe combined with the Slayer's strength when he brought it down caused his head to explode as he was decapitated.
* YourMom: He mocks the Slayer with, "Your father was a usurper. Your mother, a heretic. And you, a FALSE idol."

* BossInMookClothing: It's a much stronger variant of the typical Baron of Hell, complete with greater strength and flight.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: It had a twin that the Slayer and Team RWBY killed. It mourns its sibling's death before swearing revenge on its killers.
* TheWorfEffect: In spite the build-up it received at the start of Chapter 24, coupled with it gaining a power-up after consuming its battle partner's heart and sprouting wings, it still gets taken down relatively easily by Team RWBY, highlighting how proficient they have become in Demon Slaying.

!!The Master of Erebus
A Baalgar-class demon that oversees the fortress at the base of Mount Erebus in Hell.
----
* ImAHumanitarian: When we first see it, it's eating the corpses of Atlesian military personnel while sitting on its throne.
* LargeAndInCharge: It's as tall as the Cyberdemon, and is Mount Erebus's strongest warrior.
* MadeOfIron: After getting horribly burned by Ruby's Silver Eyes, it doesn't stop, and when Doom Slayer slashes its throat, it still tries to fight.
* RankScalesWithAsskicking: It's a shadow lord of Hell and proves to be the toughest opponent, barring the Marauder, that the Slayer and Team RWBY fight [[spoiler:in Hell]]. It even would have actually killed a few of them had Ruby not awakened her Silver Eyes.
* SlashedThroat: The Doom Slayer slits its throat with his chainsaw, then finishes it off by driving his chainsaw into its head.
* TinTyrant: It wears hell-forged armor in battle.
* TwitchyEye: A sign that it doesn't react well to Yang's [[ShoutOut 'you are huge so you have huge guts']] joke.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Icon of Sin]]
!!Icon of Sin
One of the first of the Slaves of Doom to exist and the original ruler of Hell. He rose to power eons ago and sought to turn the rage of his brethren against the rest of the universe. He would eventually be slain by the first Doom Marine at the tail end of the First Age. The Dark Lord of the current age still carries out his will.
----
* AsskickingLeadsToLeadership: He fought and killed his way to the top of Hell's hierarchy and ''earned'' his title as the Icon of Sin.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: One of the Dark Lords that he waged war with to gain control over Hell was such a hedonistic, sadistic, perverted, and downright nasty piece of work that even he felt nothing but disgust towards him.
* PosthumousCharacter: He was killed long ago by the Slayer's father, but his successors live now and carry out his will.
* PredecessorVillain: He was the original Dark Lord of the First Age that predates the one ruling Hell now.

[[folder:Deag Nilox]]
!!Deag Nilox
A Hell Priest summoned by Dr. Merlot to the Epsilon facility.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: Unlike in canon, where he stood still, cowered, and let the Slayer kill him, here he is able to defend himself with magic and repel the Slayer and Ruby. He even manages to plan a trap for [[spoiler:the ''Brother Gods'']] that succeeds.
* ButtMonkey: Nothing goes right for this guy. He gets tricked by Merlot, trapped in Epsilon with the Doom Slayer, who now has the means to permanently kill him, then gets beaten up by Marv Talg for no reason other [[ForTheEvulz than because it was funny]].
* DidntSeeThatComing: He and Merlot made a deal and plan to bring forth an invasion of Remnant through Epsilon Labs. He ''was not'' anticipating Merlot's treachery and abandoning him in the facility with the Slayer.
* OffWithHisHead: He is finally killed when Doom Slayer rips his head off with his bare hands.
* ProfaneLastWords: Right before he dies, his final words are to call Aelia a whore.
* VillainousBreakdown: Has one after Merlot pretty much ditches him and leaves him stranded in the facility. He has another one when Ruby reveals her Silver Eyes. He has his last one when Doom Slayer finally gets his hands on him and he realizes Doom Slayer has a token from Aelia that nullifies his protections.

[[folder:Marv Talg]]
!!Marv Talg
An Incubus demon that Epsilon Labs summoned and has been experimenting on. An utterly depraved hedonist and lunatic, he only cares for his personal pleasure.
----
* AbhorrentAdmirer: He shows a '''very''' twisted attraction toward anyone he's trying to kill, but he really focuses on the Slayer and Elm.
* AxCrazy: He's without a doubt the most insane demon thus far, and ''that's'' saying something. He makes many depraved threats, has committed far more depraved acts outside of just killing, and the first thing he does after breaking free is to snort crushed pills and human blood like cocaine and scream his name at the top of his lungs. Yep, he's one screwed up son of a bitch alright.
* CardCarryingVillain: Of the most horrific variety. He's a sadistic, perverse rapist and killer who knows what a scumbag he is and thoroughly relishes in every single second of how awful he is.
-->'''Watts:''' You ''are'' disgusting.\
'''Marv Talg:''' '''''Yep.'''''
* CombatSadomasochist: His fight with Watts shows that he finds both his own pain and the suffering of his opponents to be arousing. This apparently has limits, as [[spoiler:Chapter 35 ends with him crawling out of a volcano, completely charred and cursing in agony.]]
-->'''Marv Talg:''' '''''If I still had my junk, I'd totally be hard right now.'''''
* CyberneticMythicalBeast: He's a cybernetic incubus. Goes without saying.
* DanceBattler: His fighting style is described by Watts as a grotesque form of capoeira.
* DepravedBisexual: Considering the twisted face of pain and pleasure that was on Cinder's father's decapitated head, the many horrified recounts of the Epsilon scientists, and his threats towards them, it is ''very'' clear what he does to his victims.
* EarlyBirdCameo: He actually first appears in the story during Cinder's NightmareSequence as the one who killed her family, but he's given no name at the time and is dragged into a portal. He later reappears as one of the antagonists for the climax of the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc.
* ElectronicSpeechImpediment: After being reduced to a bloody skeleton by the Slayer, which reveals that he's just a much machine as he is demon, he briefly has one with a RepetitiveAudioGlitch for good measure.
* EveryoneHasStandards: PlayedForLaughs. He thinks Clover Ebi is really weird for using a fishing rod as a weapon. He even pauses and offers Clover a chance to pick up a different weapon.
* ForTheEvulz: This is quite literally the only reason he even '''exists'''. Nilox states that Incubi are created for the sole purpose of spreading misery and suffering for their own amusement.
* FullFrontalAssault: He's described as fighting completely naked. It's less risque than most examples since by the time of the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc, he's been castrated and has BarbieDollAnatomy.
* GrievousHarmWithABody: During his fight with Watts, he grabs a random Imp corpse and uses it as a sledgehammer.
* GroinAttack: When he breaks free, he is shown to have lost his genitals. He is most certainly '''''NOT''''' happy about it.
* HateSink: A depraved sociopathic hedonist who rapes and kills to his heart's content. It says '''a lot''' about this guy when everyone from Watts to even Hell Priests like Nilox are utterly disgusted by him.
* HealingFactor: He can recover from almost any injury. The scientists experimenting on him had to replace is lower half with cybernetics to prevent it, alongside his genitals which he uses for [[RapeisASpecialKindOfEvil depraved reasons]], from growing back. He can even recover from having his brains splattered by the Super Shotgun and then having a grenade dropped on his body.
* TheHedonist: His existence is all about three things: ''[[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking Violence, depravity and junk food]]''.
* {{Irony}}: Marv is an Incubus...but he cannot actually have sex anymore since his lower half was replaced with cybernetics. The Slayer thinks it's no wonder Marv is so AxCrazy.
* {{Jerkass}}: Even by demon standards, it's downright impressive what a colossal ''dick'' this guy is.
* LastOfHisKind: The Doom Slayer wiped out all the other Succubi and Incubi, so he's the last Incubus remaining.
* NighInvulnerability: His healing factor and cybernetics allow him to recover from almost anything, rendering him pretty much invincible. Not even the Slayer can do any significant damage that's worthwhile enough to kill him for good.
* NowThatsUsingYourTeeth: He manages to use his teeth to catch Elm's fist...[[{{Fingore}} and then he bites down]].
* OriginalCharacter: He doesn't exist in ''Doom'' and is a new demon of the author's design.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: He carries a lot of differences from the other Slaves of Doom. His body is far more humanoid and he talks in human languages more than he does demonic BlackSpeech. He also has a gender to go by while other demons are only ever referred to as "it", not to mention that he only seeks personal pleasure while the rest of demonkind seek the destruction of everything and everyone other than themselves.
* PsychopathicManchild: He acts like a giddy kid on a sugar rush...while horribly mutilating and raping everyone around him.
* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: He's the only demon so far that engages in rape for his own amusement and is loathed and despised by not only the other human antagonists, but his own kind as well.
* StrongAndSkilled: Despite being an absolute hedonist and lunatic, his fighting style is shockingly elegant. He's described as using a disturbing form of capoeira in his fight with Watts, and he spins and jumps around with a lot of grace in his fight with Ace Ops.
* SweetTooth: To the point he ''rips open a vending machine'' and gorges on it's contents.
* UncertainDoom: No pun intended, but [[spoiler:the Slayer throws him out of a window that's over a volcano. Even he's not sure if Marv survived or not. TheStinger at the end of chapter 35 confirms that he survived]].
* VillainousGlutton: Tying in with his hedonistic tendencies, after he escapes from captivity he quickly goes and cleans out Epsilon's larder.

[[folder:The Dark Lord '''(spoilers)''']]
!!Davoth
The Dark Lord and supreme ruler of all demonkind.
----
* AdaptationalWimp: ''VERY'' downplayed, since he's still more powerful than most of the characters by several magnitudes, but WordOfGod has it [[spoiler: he's not the true Father like in ''The Ancient Gods'']], making him moderately less powerful than in the games.
* AstralProjection: He's imprisoned, but he can communicate to others by exerting his will into a shadowy apparition. Said projection is even powerful enough to almost kill Ruby and Taiyang.
* BreakingSpeech: Gives one to Ironwood about his arrogance and paranoia will do Atlas in without Hell needing to do anything. The speech itself leaves the general staggering and shaken. Also does this to Ruby when she tries to deliver a heroic speech about how William is no longer alone in his fight and Hell will be defeated. The Dark Lord [[ShutUpKirk reduces her to tears and fury]] in the same way Salem did in Volume 7 by bringing up [[MissingMom Summer Rose]]. Salem implies, and the Dark Lord outright states, that Summer was killed, [[FateWorseThanDeath or maybe even worse,]] by their hands.
* GreaterScopeVillain: As the supreme lord of all demonkind, he's this for the entire story.
* LastEpisodeNewCharacter: While his voice is heard and he is alluded to in previous chapters, he makes his first actual appearance at the tale end of the "Kingdom of Tyrants" arc.
* RelatedInTheAdaptation: He's the younger brother of the Brother Gods.
* TimeAbyss: As the younger brother of the Gods of Light and Dark, his existence predates demonkind, the Slayer, Ozma, and Remnant as a whole.

!!Salem's Forces
[[folder:Salem]]
!!Salem
An ancient immortal entity that controls the creatures of Grimm.
----
* AdaptationalBadass: She displays the ability to manipulate memories and control minds, which are powers she never had canonically. Though it's worth noting that the scenes in which she displays these powers were written pre-Volume 6, back when very little was known about her abilities canonically beyond her command over Grimm, so it's also a case of AcceptableBreaksFromCanon.
* AndIMustScream: When she attempted to brainwash the Slayer, she ended up trapped in his memories and was forced to endure the eons of horrors he's lived throughout his life in mere moments. [[VillainousBreakdown She doesn't come out of it okay.]]
* CantKillYouStillNeedYou: After Cinder's failure and lashing out at her, she attempts to kill her, but stops herself because she's reminded that Cinder still has half of the Fall Maiden's power, and killing her is more detrimental to her plans because Amber would just get the powers back if she went through with it.
* DisappointedInYou: Outright tells Cinder this when she's finished getting the shit kicked out of her by the Slayer.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: She is described as screaming in both rage ''and'' grief after looking inside the Slayer's mind, and her later thoughts show that she is aware that he used to be much happier as a young boy, showing that even she views William's transformation into the SociopathicHero and mentally tortured individual he is today as genuinely tragic.
* GoMadFromTheRevelation: Seeing the Slayers memories and being trapped in his head drove her to a complete breakdown.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain:
** Congrats Salem, you've now tipped the Slayer off to the fact that you have a mole on Ozpin's inner circle.
** Her letting Cinder get the shit kicked out of her by the Slayer and openly admitting to such causes her pupil to become more defiant of her.
* TheOlderImmortal: Since she's around the same age as Ozpin and her rebellion against the Brother Gods, [[spoiler:combined with the God of Darkness' genocide against the then humans of Remnant, is what led to the existence of Hell]], she qualifies as this towards the Slayer.
* VillainousBreakdown: After witnessing the Slayer's memories, she goes from calm and collected to panicking and ranting, now terrified that the Slayer will come for her next.
* WhatTheHellAreYou: After seeing into the Slayer's memories and getting trapped in them, she has this response to him.
* YouMonster: She outright calls the Slayer one. Lets you know how terrified she is of him.

[[folder:Cinder Fall]]
!!Cinder Fall
One of Salem's inner circle. An ambitious woman who seeks power, with her master's goals lining up with her desires.
----
* AbusiveParents: As within canon, Cinder was under the "care" of her adoptive family who practically treated her as a slave at their hotel.
* AintTooProudToBeg: When the Slayer starts brutally beating her up, she goes from VillainousBreakdown to quietly begging Salem for help.
* BerserkButton:
** Mocking her about her failures ensures that she will make you suffer. Tyrian insulting her resulting in getting his tongue burned.
** After the Slayer nearly killed her, the mere mention of his name is enough to enrage her.
* BigBadWannabe: Oh she's certainly a credible threat, but she believed herself to be more than a match for the Slayer. How horrifically wrong she was.
* BreakTheHaughty: The Doom Slayer gave her a reality check during his fight with her and nearly killed her. It broke Cinder's pride and arrogance so badly that just mentioning that the Slayer bested her will set her off.
* CurbStompCushion: She was completely outclassed by the Slayer, but she does do some damage and can overheat his suit. The Slayer even acknowledges that she's ''almost'' as strong as Ozpin, and that's with only half of the Fall Maiden's power.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: She comes from a family of demon worshipers, and she has nightmares of when her parents were killed by them; and like her canon version, Cinder went through heavy abuse from her stepmother and sisters.
* DrunkWithPower: [[spoiler:After Salem gets her hands on some Immora armor and gives it to Cinder, her sadism is on full display as she attacks the Branwen Bandit Tribe. It's clear the armor's power, combined with her Half-Maiden abilities, is going to her head, and she wonders if the Slayer feels the same whenever he fights in his Praetor Suit]].
* ItsPersonal: After the Slayer wipes the floor with her and nearly kills her, Cinder gains a vendetta for him. Her defeat at his hands brought back the pain and suffering she went through in her past, something she's not keen to remember.
* KickTheDog: She just had to taunt the Slayer over his doomed home-world. This earns her an explosive shotgun round ''to the face''.
* MythologyGag: Cinder's hate for the Slayer reflects her canon counterpart's hate for Ruby, as they both beat and humiliated her in their respective stories. Later, she becomes more irrational and angry, reflecting her canon version even more.
* PetTheDog: She ultimately saves her subordinates, despite it being more in her interest to up and ditch them so she could save herself. Even ''she'' questions why she did that.
* {{Revenge}}: On the Slayer. He nearly killed Cinder in their first encounter and she wants to burn him alive for humiliating her.
* SleepsInTheNude: In Chapter 13, she is shown getting out of bed naked. She doesn't flinch when Salem (communicating through a Seer Grimm) enters the room to talk to her.
* SmugSnake: She may be powerful, but she thought herself to be in the Slayer's league, if not outright superior. She was oh so ''horribly'' '''wrong'''.
* SuperToughness: She was able to get up after the Slayer shot her in the face. Anyone else would have had their head blown clean off.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Cinder's [[SanitySlippage sanity goes down]] after her defeat by the Doom Slayer. Like her canon version after Volume 3, Cinder loses the refined pride she had and becomes irrational, headstrong, and temperamental, and the mere mention of the Doom Slayer sets her off.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: She thought she could easily manipulate the Slayer and take him on in a fight. To say she was wrong would be a '''massive''' understatement.
* VillainousBreakdown: Has one when the Slayer defeats her, screaming that the Maiden's powers are hers and that she earned them.

* EyeScream: The Slayer punched Emerald so hard in the face that he popped her right eye like a balloon. She later gets a robotic eye to replace it in Chapter 37.
* SuicidalOverconfidence: Emerald is devoted to Cinder and is confident she can defeat the Slayer. Even after seeing him butcher Marlowe, she ''still'' believes that she can. William proves Emerald dead wrong when he almost kills both of them and punches her eye out.
* UndyingLoyalty: Emerald's entirely devoted to Cinder and will do anything for her. Even when the Slayer punches her right eye and is in no shape to fight, she grabs onto one of his legs and begs him not to kill her.

[[folder:Mercury Black]]
!!Mercury Black
One of Cinder's subordinates and the son of Marcus Black.
----
* DefiantToTheEnd: His reaction to his demonically powered and supremely pissed off father looming over him? ''He mocks him.''
* GrievousHarmWithABody: The Slayer rips one of his mechanical legs off and ''beats him with it.''
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: He stomps on the Slayer's face to make sure he's unconscious when he, Emerald, Neo, and the White Fang manage to (temporarily) incapacitate him. If it were anyone else, this probably would have worked, but this only makes the Slayer ''angrier''.
* TraumaButton: Watching the Slayer's visceral brutality reminded him too much of his father.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Roman Torchwick]]
!!Roman Torchwick
A crime boss who works for Cinder.
----
* HazyFeelTurn: He joins up with Ironwood so that the general can make use of his criminal connections to better handle the demon threat and locate Marcus Black, but he ain't joining because he's feeling generous. More exactly, he had to surrender to Atlas after Penny tracked him and threatened both him and Neo with her swords.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: He's well aware of when he's outclassed and makes it a point to get away when this is the case. He and Neo were smart enough to avoid the Slayer altogether.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Unlike the others, he makes the smart move alongside Neo to get the hell away from the Slayer.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Neopolitan]]
!!Neopolitan
Roman's associate.
----
* BewareTheQuietOnes: She never utters a word, but she's a deadlier fighter than Roman.
* HyperCompetentSidekick: She's a much better fighter than her boss and typically does his heavy lifting.
* MasterOfDisguise: Her Semblance allows her to cast illusions that she uses for disguises. She was able to disguise herself as Winter so well that no one barring Ozpin suspected her.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Like her boss, she makes the smart choice to get the hell outta dodge when the Slayer comes a'knockin.

A fanatical servant of Salem. A scorpion Faunus who's utterly insane.
----
* AxCrazy: He's clearly shown to be insane with how unhinged he is.
* BullyingTheDragon: He mocks Cinder for her failure and for disappointing his master. Cinder retaliated quite strongly.
* TongueTrauma: In response to insulting her, Cinder burns his tongue.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Leonardo Lionheart]]
!!Leonardo Lionheart
One of Ozpin's inner circle who secretly switched sides and now works for Salem.
----
* AintTooProudToBeg: In his secret message to the Slayer in Chapter 40, Lionheart begs him to understand why he joined Salem's side and that he'll swear to help him if he lets him live and gets him out of his situation.
* DirtyCoward: Leonardo jumped ship to Salem's side out of fear for his life, acting as her mole in Ozpin's inner circle. After witnessing the Doom Slayer's power, he starts to have second thoughts and secretly tries to help him so that he can save him from Salem's wrath. However, [[EveryoneHasStandards the Slayer's utterly sickened by his cowardice,]] and it's likely he'll kill him instead.
* DramaticIrony: Lionheart still thinks that Ozpin and his circle don't know he sold them out to Salem's own, but thanks to VEGA telling them they have a mole in their ranks, they realize it's him. Hazel offers to "convince" him to return to their side, but Oz chooses to leave him to the Slayer.
* FaceHeelTurn: He was one of Ozpin's associates and a fellow Huntsman. Now he serves one of Remnant's deadliest threats to preserve his own life.
* FatalFlaw: His greatest weakness is his cowardice. He defected to Salem's faction after she threatened to kill him, and he tries to switch sides ''again'' when he sees what the Doom Slayer can do and realizes he'll butcher him for his betrayal.
* HeelRealization: After seeing the Doom Slayer's power, Leonardo starts to have second thoughts when he thinks the Slayer might have a chance against Salem... [[OhCrap followed by realizing the Slayer will surely kill him for selling them out to her.]]
* TheMole: He secretly works for Salem and supplies her with information.
* PetTheDog: In Chapter 40, he helps the Slayer by not telling Salem about his arrival in Mistral. It might be subverted a bit, as the Slayer is sure Lionheart will rat him out to her regardless.
* PlayingBothSides: Leo plays both sides of Ozpin and Salem's war to save his own skin; he sells out Oz when the latter threatens to kill him, and he tries to defect again when he realizes the Doom Slayer might beat Salem and will probably kill him for his first betrayal. While William can understand his lack of a spine, he's sickened because Leo's a special kind of coward: the type that would let everyone die as long as they're the only one left. It's likely that if Salem doesn't get him, the Slayer will.
* TrappedInVillainy: Lionheart claims that Salem forced him to join her side and that he had no choice.

!!White Fang
!!!Leadership
[[folder:Adam Taurus]]
!!Adam Taurus
One of the main leaders of the White Fang, just below Sienna Khan.
----
* AvengingTheVillain: A rather humorous example. Not only does he want revenge on the Slayer for himself, but he also wants to help Marlowe avenge his dick (the Slayer sliced it off with a broken sword).
* FantasticRacism: He ''despises'' humans and has expressed a lot of misanthropy towards them.
* FunctionalAddict: Even with several painkillers pumped into his system, he still proves to be a deadly adversary.
* HowTheMightyHaveFallen: After Marcus takes his Semblance, he's reduced to the cultists messenger boy, and he's lost all respect from his White Fang peers. It's implied after the Epsilon incident that he's working to regain the favor he had before within the organization, and it's enough to scare Sienna into calling Ghira for support.
* HumiliationConga: His first fight with the Slayer ends with his kneecaps being blown off, leaving him to spend the next dozen chapters with pain medication in his system. Then his second fight with the Slayer ends with him breaking his left testicle, having his Semblance stolen by Marcus, and he ends up reduced to being the demon cult's messenger boy on the threat of further torture.
* {{Jerkass}}: He's an amalgamation of everything wrong with the current White Fang. He's a [[AbsoluteXenophobe xenophobic]] [[MisanthropeSupreme misanthrope]] with a [[SmugSuper massive ego]] and was [[DomesticAbuse horrifically abusive toward Blake]].
* KatanasAreJustBetter: His sword: Wilt, is a katana that can be fired out of its hilt like a gun.
* {{Kneecapping}}: His first encounter with the Slayers ends with him getting shot in the kneecaps.
* PsychopathicManchild: He's completely deranged and acts like everything should revolve around him. When Sienna stripped him of his rank and said he was unfit to lead the White Fang, he whines that it isn't fair. Sienna even questions if she's talking to a child rather than a man.
* {{Revenge}}: He wants to enact vengeance upon the Slayer for his humiliating defeat and blasting his kneecaps.
* SanitySlippage: Granted, he wasn't very sane in the first place, but his first encounter with the Slayer, resulting in his humiliating loss, is where he ''really'' starts losing it. As shown in the one-shot, ''Taurus'', he's been forced to take painkillers like a junkie and is a lot more unhinged than normal.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Sienna Khan]]
!!Sienna Khan
The current High Leader of the White Fang.
----
* AscendedExtra: She is only mentioned a couple of times in Season 4 before being unceremoniously killed off by Adam in the first episode of Season 5, before being featured posthumously in Adam's Season 6 trailer. Here, she's still alive, still in charge of the White Fang and fighting the Legions of Hell alongside the Doom Slayer.
* DirtyCoward: [[AvertedTrope Not really]], but Adam accuses her of being this. When she's giving Adam a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech, he thinks that she's only saying this because she knows he can't fight back.
* EnemyMine: Enters an impromptu one with the Slayer, and later General Ironwood, when she realizes there are worse things than humanity that want to kill the Faunus. However, this causes her authority over the White Fang to weaken due to allying with their worst enemies, giving Adam a platform to try and regain some of his old influence within the organization.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: She's the head of a terrorist organization, but she doesn't advocate for Adam's dogmatic agenda and makes it clear that his actions will not be tolerated.
* FrontlineGeneral: She personally leads the White Fang in the assault on Epsilon labs.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Strips Adam of his right to lead when she realizes he would only continue to aggravate tensions between humanity and the Faunus to the point that there would be all-out war between the races.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: She's a genuine case compared to Adam. Her actions are violent, but they're in the name of Faunus equality.

[[folder:Marlowe]]
!!Marlowe
A large, chainsaw-wielding member of the White Fang and Adam's first lieutenant.
----
* GroinAttack: The Slayer used a broken sword to cut his dick off. ''Not'' a pleasant experience in the slightest.
* NamedByTheAdaptation: He was just referred as the 'Lieutenant' in canon. Here, he has a name.
* OffWithHisHead: The Slayer rips his head, and much of his spine, off with his bare hands.
* TookALevelInBadass: When the Slayer re-encounters him, he's decked out in an advanced mechanical suit and wields a heavy machine-gun with attached chainsaws combo.

[[folder:Ilia Amitola]]
!!Ilia Amitola
A chameleon Faunus and White Fang member who aids Sienna in her attack on Epsilon Labs.
----
* EvenEvilHasStandards: She's a member of the White Fang, but the experiments done by [[spoiler:the SDC]] ''horrify'' her.
* EyeScream: Blake, in a fit of anger, almost gouges her eyes out with her thumbs. Thankfully, she comes to her senses and doesn't go through with it.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: She's under the impression that the White Fang has the manpower to take on the Slayer. Sienna stops her from doing something she'd regret.

!!Remnant (WARNING! Spoilers)
[[folder:The Brother Gods]]
!!The Brother of Light and Darkness
The sibling deities of Remnant.
----
* AdaptationOriginConnection: The two Brothers are revealed to actually be Maykrs in this version, as their luminous godly forms obscure the biomechanical plating of their true forms.
* BigWhat: Darkness didn't handle the Slayer being a challenge to him ''quietly''.
* GreaterScopeVillain: The Brother of Darkness ends up inadvertently being this for damn near the whole plot. His genocide of the pre-history Remnant's humanity caused them to become the Slaves of Doom. As a result, all the suffering they caused across countless worlds and realms from Argent D'Nur to Remnant can be traced back to him.
* TheMaker: They created mankind together before Darkness wiped them all out. It also doubles as a pun given that, well, they're Maykrs. This is actually averted with the current humans of Remnant, as later chapters reveal that they descend from the Argenta who colonized the world after Darkness' genocide.
* OhCrap: Both of them have this reaction to being told by Nilox about Davoth, aka ''The Dark Lord'', signifying that they know about him.
* TheUnfavorite: Implied. They say that Davoth, their little brother, was the favorite son of the Father. Darkness' bitterness when stating this implies that they weren't so loved.
* TheWorfEffect:
** Despite being deities, they both get bound to the Pain Engine by Deag Nilox to power it.
** Also, the Slayer cuts off one of Darkness' horns. Just the fact that the gods could be harmed ''at all'' is treated as a major deal. And that's before getting into the fact that the Slayer managed to fight them off.

!!Argent D'Nur (WARNING! Spoilers)
!!!Night Sentinels
[[folder:In General]]
!!Night Sentinels
The warrior caste of the Argenta people that fought against the Slaves of Doom eons ago. The Slayer originally fought in their ranks, and they have a connection to the Silver-Eyed Warriors of Remnant.
----
* AdaptationalDyeJob: They were just regular HumanAliens in canon. In this fic, they are all Silver-Eyed Warriors.
* BlueBlood: Because of Sentinel focus on nobility, much of their knightly ranks were composed of nobles, such as House Ateius (the house of the Slayer's mother).
* GoodIsNotNice: They fought against the forces of Hell, but that had a propensity for xenophobia, given their treatment of beastkin and terrans.
* FantasticRacism: They looked down on terrans (humans) and were actively hostile towards beastkin (Argenta Faunus), where it's implied their bigotry was responsible for an outright beastkin rebellion, which was put down with extreme prejudice.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Valen]]
!!Legate-Commander Valen
A high-ranking officer of the Night Sentinels assigned to training new recruits for the legions. Responsible for training both the Slayer and his father in the martial traditions of the Night Sentinels.
----
* HadToBeSharp: Mentally invokes this upon William as a child after he was tricked by one of the more traditionalist Night Sentinels into killing a Beastkin for his first blood; a practice that was outlawed by his own mother prior to her death. Upon learning this from Valen, the future Slayer attacked and nearly killed the Sentinel responsible for deceiving him and insulting his mother's memory until the Commander pulled him off and tossed him into the cells for the night instead of sending the traumatized boy to the priestesses. He says to himself that he can't afford to be soft to any of his trainees, not even his friend's son.
* TheMentor: Taught William everything he knows about ripping and tearing his enemies to shreds and did the same for his father years prior.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Keel]]
!!Keel
A Night Sentinel who was Valen's son and the Slayer's first friend from training.
----
* ChildhoodFriend: Was the first friend that the Slayer made during their training to become Night Sentinels.
* TheChosenOne: He was the first Night Sentinel in thousands of years born with the ability to use his Silver Eyes, in the same manner as Ruby and others of their kind from Remnant are able to. This had a lot of hopes hung on him.
* DoomedByCanon: [[spoiler:If you've followed the codex entries in the games, you'll know what became of him.]]
* {{Expy}}: Of Eijiro Kirishima from ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia''. Basically a direct transplant in terms of personality and appearance, minus the Silver Eyes as per his Argenta heritage.
* UncertainDoom: The exact circumstances of his death are unknown, but it's implied by the Marauder that BJ could have saved him but failed. We later learn that he was killed by the demons during the invasion of Taras Nabad.

!!!Blazkowicz Family
[[folder:Doomguy]]
!!Stan Blazkowicz
The original Doom Marine and the father of the Doom Slayer.
----
* ActionDad: He's the Slayer's father and the original bane of Hell itself. You expect anything less?
* AdaptationDyeJob: His hairstyle is based off his ''VideoGame/QuakeChampions'' alternate facial model, so he has blonde hair rather than brown.
* BadassNormal: Let's put this into perspective; he's not a Silver-Eyed Warrior, he's not of Argent D'Nur, he has no Semblance or Aura, yet he's fought his way through Hell itself, ''killed'' the Icon of Sin, killed the Mother Demon and spent an indeterminate amount of time fighting Hell before ending up on Argent D'Nur!
* BlueBlood: He was made a noble of Argent D'Nur for his past accomplishments against Hell and his service to the Night Sentinels.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Being an ordinary human doesn't stop him from having the strength to rip and tear demons to pieces.
* CompositeCharacter: In the Doom II RPG, Stan Blazkowicz was a relative of Doomguy. Here, he is Doomguy.
* DecompositeCharacter: In this story, Doomguy and the Doom Slayer are father and son. In canon, [[spoiler:[[CanonCharacterAllAlong they're the same person.]]]]
* GoodParents: He was a loving father to his two sons.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Had blonde hair and was a loving family man.
* HappilyMarried: As far as we see in the past, his marriage with Aelia had a lot of love.
* HeroicLineage: His father (Commander Keen) fought aliens, and his grandmother, grandaunt and great-grandparents (Wolfenstein series) all fought Nazis.
* ManlyTears: The sight of his son crying is enough to make him shed tears.
* PapaWolf: '''NEVER''' mess with his family! If you do, there won't be anything left to show you even existed.
* RoaringRampageOfRescue: Went all out to save his kids when they were kidnapped. Their kidnappers are not around anymore.
* SanitySlippage: While he did eventually get better by the time he and Aelia started a family, spending an indeterminate amount of time fighting the demons after the events of the classic games brought him to the brink of madness. When Aelia found him, he was reduced to incoherently rambling about ripping demons to shreds and pulling their guts out.
* UncertainDoom: His exact fate is unknown. It's implied that he's dead, but even then, he's an ordinary human and it's unlikely that he'd be alive after several eons. It's later confirmed that he was killed during the final battles of Argent D'Nur, with Merlot implying that he was stabbed in the back.
* YouAreACreditToYourRace: Argent D'Nur society looks down on humans, or "terrans" as they call them, but Doomguy was more respected and even made a noble because of his past actions against Hell.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Aelia Blazkowicz]]
!!Aelia Blazkowicz (nee Ateius)
The Slayer's mother and the Deag - or high priestess - of the Wraith sect of Argent D'Nur.
----
* ActionMom: She's the mother of two children and was one of the Night Sentinels.
* AlliterativeName: Her name before marrying the Doom Marine was '''A'''elia '''A'''teius.
* BattleBallgown: She wears an armored dress as part of her priestess attire.
* BlindfoldedVision: Her traditional outfit has a blindfold, but it has sensors that allow her to see anyway.
* DatingWhatDaddyHates: She fell in love with and married a "terran", a member of a race her father despises beyond reason.
* {{Expy}}: The author said her design is based on Sword Maiden from ''Literature/GoblinSlayer''.
* GoodParents: She was a kindhearted loving mother to her sons and one of the only Sentinels that can be called a loving, wonderful person.
* HappilyMarried: With the original Doom Marine as far as we see in flashbacks.
* ParentalAbandonment: It's implied that her father drove her mother away.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Hunter Blazkowicz]]
!!Hunter Blazkowicz/Lahl Ateius
The Slayer's younger brother. His fate is unknown.
----
* ChildrenAreInnocent: He was practically a blond, boy version of Ruby when he was a child.
* MoralityChainBeyondTheGrave: Even in death, the Slayer's memories of his brother are enough to help him stay sane... well, sane ''enough''.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: He takes more after his father and the Blazkowicz appearance.
* UncertainDoom: It's not known what happened to him after the destruction of Argent D'Nur. It's possible that he died, but how he died is another story. We later learn that he was killed by falling debris from a collapsing cathedral.

!!!House Ateius
[[folder:Quirinus Ateius]]
!!Quirinus Ateius
Aelia's father and the Slayer's grandfather. He's a complete jackass.
----
* AbusiveParent: Towards his daughter (whom he sees as a tool for his desires) and his grandchildren (who he arranged to be kidnapped).
* AssholeVictim: You can just hear people cheering as Doomguy beats him to a pulp.
* DirtyCoward: He may talk a big game, but the second things go sideways for him, he becomes a begging coward.
* DomesticAbuse: Heavily implied to have been this to his wife.
* EvilOldFolks: Setting up your grandchildren to be kidnapped and leaving one with a permanent scar as a result of said kidnapping will land you squarely in this category.
* GruesomeGrandparent: Is hateful toward his own grandchildren because of their half-terran heritage.
* {{Expy}}: He's basically an Argenta version of [[VideoGame/WolfensteinIITheNewColossus Rip Blazkowicz]].
* FantasticRacism: He despised Doomguy and his grandchildren for their Earth heritage, which he viewed as weak.
* HateSink: In what little we see of him, there's nothing redeemable about him at all.
* {{Jerkass}}: His defining character trait is that he's a thoroughly repugnant asshole to everyone, especially his daughter's family.
* LikeFatherUnlikeSon: When we see that Quirinus's father was a CoolOldGuy and very loving with his great-grandchildren, you have to wonder how Quirinus himself turned into such a massive dick.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: He thinks he can get away with anything thanks to his political and familial connections on Argent D'Nur... Doomguy doesn't care about that.
* WellDoneSonGuy: It's pretty clear that his father prefers to spend time with William and Hunter than he does his own son, something that drives him up a wall.
* WouldHurtAChild: He'd certainly arrange for them to be kidnapped and potentially murdered if they didn't agree to join the Night Sentinels, given that he did just that with his grandkids.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Mercato Ateius]]
!!Mercato Ateius
Patriarch of the Ateius family, Quirinus' father, Aelia's grandfather and great-grandfather to the Blazkowicz children. He's a CoolOldGuy.
----
* AmbiguousSituation: He once had a conversation between his granddaughter and her husband recorded in secret, the reason for which is yet to be explained.
* CoolOldGuy: In contrast to his son, he's one to his great-grandchildren William and Hunter, to the point he accepts them not becoming Night Sentinels out of their parents' wishes.
* RetiredMonster: It's implied that he used to be a ''very'' brutal man, having slaughtered a massive number of Beastkin, something his granddaughter does not look back on favorably. In the present day, he's a kind man towards both his great-grandchildren, who are shown to adore him. He even takes a stance against sending them to be part of the knight order he was once a member of, knowing the brutality of such a life.

A rabbit beastkin (the Argent D'Nur equivalent of Faunus) and a childhood friend of the Slayer.
----
* ChildhoodFriends: Was William's closest friend during his youth.
* DeathByOriginStory: She died a long time ago, serving as one of the major motivators for what William would eventually become.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: She was a kindhearted childhood friend of William's and had blonde hair.
* MeaningfulName: Her name is derived from 'Bellis perennis', a common European species of Daisy flower. The original Doomguy's revenge was in part motivated by the death of his pet rabbit, Daisy. Now it's her death (among ''many'' others) that spurs his son, the Doom Slayer, on his path of fury against Hell.
* PosthumousCharacter: She's long dead by the time the story begins, but her death is one that drives the Slayer forward in his quest to destroy Hell.
