* BigBrotherInstinct: Jamal initially comes across as an aggressive, thuggish lout who'd just as quickly kill Subaru as talk to him, but in side-chapters when [[spoiler:Rem gets to interact with his sister Katya during their time held hostage in the capital city]], it becomes clear that he cares deeply for his frail sister, and wants her to have a happy life together with Todd, willing to risk his own well-being without a second thought for that purpose.
