* CuddleBug: It's the only Pokemon in Pokemon Refresh that doesn't have a displeased reaction to anything and will happily let you pet it any way you like. Given its lonely demeanor, this makes sense.

* BareFistedMonk: Crabrawler are pure Fighting types and surprisingly not Water type. They're even called the Boxing Pokémon, and can have Iron Fist as an ability.

* MagikarpPower: Downplayed. While Charjabug has decent enough stats (a higher base stat total than the fully evolved Butterfree, in fact), its Special Attack is nothing compared to Vikavolt's. You're likely to get a Charjabug before you leave the second island (it's unavailable on the first), but it only evolves into Vikavolt at Vast Poni Canyon, one of the final areas of the game. You can mitigate this by giving it an Eviolite and heightening its already decent defenses, however.

* DrivenByEnvy: One way of interpreting Mimikyu's desire to be like Pikachu, one that makes the anime portrayal make a lot more sense in hindsight.

* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Another way of looking at it, especially with the combination of [[NightmareFuelStationAttendant Ghost]]/[[LightIsNotGood Fairy]] typing and the creepiness of its Trial in-game.

* MagikarpPower: Cosmog's overall stats are pitiful low and it can't learn anything besides Splash and Teleport, which makes it impossible for Cosmog to level up by itself. It will eventually evolve into Cosmoem at Level 43, which is a StoneWall that can learn Cosmo Power... and that's about it. Once Cosmoem reaches Level 53, it will eventually evolve into a Solgaleo or a Lunala, depending on which version it's in. In fact, they are the first Pokémon to evolve into a Legendary Pokémon.

* FragileSpeedster: Despite having amazing health and Shadow Shield to soften the blows it takes at full health, Lunala's defenses aren't high enough to assist with those perks or its terrible defensive typing, where both of its weaknesses are double weaknesses and only having one resistance apart from the Ghost-type's immunity to Normal and Fighting attacks. Though Solgaleo has the same defenses but swapped around, being part-Steel gives it a number of resistances and usually allows it to endure more blows than Lunala.

** Solgaleo and Lunala's genders are unlisted and they won't breed in the nursery, but the Pokédex states they're gender counterparts and post-game they can be brought together to produce another Cosmog.

* MagikarpPower: Cosmog and Cosmoem can't learn offensive moves, which makes levelling them up a nigh impossible task without sharing the experience with another team member or using Rare Candies. Once they evolve, hoo boy are they strong. They are the first Pokémon to evolve into Legendaries. While Cosmoem has the saving grace of having high defences, Cosmog has meager stats all around with a BST of only 200.

* OlympusMons: They're the cover legendaries of ''Sun and Moon''. Their pre-evolutions, Cosmog and Cosmoem, are also considered legendary Pokémon, making them the only legendaries to evolve into/from something (discounting Diancie, [[GameplayAndStorySegregation whom the player can't evolve from a Carbink]]).

* BrilliantButLazy: Despite it's incredible power over nature, Tapu Bulu is described as a lazy Pokémon who commands plant life to do its bidding.
