Whereas Hinata is a {{Shy Blue Haired|Girl}} NiceGirl who can barely talk to Naruto [[CharacterDevelopment until Part II]], Sakura is a HotBlooded, strong, rose-haired {{cherryblossomgirl}} who is ready to inflict [[ChunkySalsaRule bodily harm]] on impact. While Hinata is of a much higher social status (akin to a noblewoman), is considered more conventionally attractive than Sakura, and her shy behavior throws him for a loop, her kind and gentle nature and constant devotion to the clueless Naruto makes her fit the Betty role. * BreakoutCharacter: According to WordOfGod, she's the most popular female of the series, exceeding even Sakura, despite all his efforts to make the latter popular. This even had come to a point where Kishimoto wondered about switching her into the main heroine of the series but in the end settled on making her heroine by the end of the manga. This also resulted in ''The Last'', where she is the main female lead and [[spoiler:the main love interest]]. In an interview, Kishimoto mentioned that several people, including some on his own staff, pointed out to him over the course of the series that Hinata made a better heroine than Sakura.

Finally, of all the canon girls Naruto has ever met, she is the only one who is by far the most sweet-tempered, honest, open-minded and patient towards him, despite all his flaws that made all the other girls (particularly {{Tsundere}}s like Ino and especially Sakura) condescending, mood-swingy and judgmental towards him.
