* MoralityPet: Seems to be this for Carl. Carl is always happy to see him and whenever he's upset/in distress, Carl's first instinct is to either comfort him or help him.
* TheWoobie: All three times we see him so far. He's lost in a maze, and then his home is gone, and then his family might be dead. Invoked when Carl notes he "can't help but feel bad for the little guy". [[spoiler: And then, to make matters worse, he gets kidnapped.]] Poor guy just can't catch a break, huh?
* UglyCute: He's not the most conventionally adorable thing in the world, but his mannerisms, his situation and his overall friendly demeanor endear him both to the protagonist and much of the audience.

* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: Unlike Red, he seems to be more reserved and cerebral, backing out of fights whenever it becomes apparent he can't win. [[spoiler: He also attempts to fight Carl in Chapter 5, instead of just waiting until the end, and that's after keeping him fooled with his King Caesar ruse.]]

* AffablyEvil: Rather polite as far as antagonists can go. He actually gives out warnings, and when attacked initially he simply parries the blow without a counterattack and leaves with one last warning. Even when retreating from a lost fight, he takes a moment to tell the player [[VillainousRespect he fights well, even if it matters little]].
