There is nothing in the series to demonstrate Tem Ray is "a horrible person". Were you looking for The Origin character page? Furthermore, none of this demonstrates the trope.

* InsufferableGenius: Tem Ray may be a horrible person, but when he was tasked to crash develop something that could hold the line against the Zaku I he not only came up with the Gundam that handily outperformed the replacements for the Zaku ''II'' (even the downgraded mass-production version, the GM, is superior even to the Dom) and made sure [[CrazyPrepared it could survive re-entry]], he also made it easy to pilot (enough it could be piloted by [[FallingIntoTheCockpit someone with no training literally holding the operator's manual on their lap]]), he even anticipated that he couldn't possibly get everything right on the first try and thus made sure it could be easily modified and equipped it with advanced recording systems so that he could come up with said systems based on combat data (while he was unable to do it himself, his replacements used Amuro's combat data to improve the Gundam and the GM and build even more advanced machines).

There's a lot of stuff in the original 52 ep outline that doesn't square with what we actually got in the show. Deikun did not have a Soap Opera Illness but died fairly suddenly. Degwin's potential role in Deikun's death goes better under The Usurper or other tropes.

* ImplausibleDeniability: Degwin came to power ten years ago after the sudden and suspicious death of Zeon Daikun for whom he served as chief of staff. Degwin claims that Zeon, on his deathbed declared Degwin his successor. Given this much, of course Degwin couldn't possibly had anything to do with the highly questionable [[SoapOperaDisease Soap Opera Illness]] that caused Zeon Deikun’s untimely passing, could he? Notably, had the original plan of 52 episodes been followed Degwin would have admitted that he had indeed murdered Zeon.

* TheUsurper: The few people in Zeon who would dare have this opinion don't voice it out loud, but whether you believe Degwin is the rightful successor to Zeon Zum Deikun or not, he indisputably changed the Side 3 government from a republic to a monarchical dictatorship controlled by his own family.
* VillainousLegacy: He's supplanted by his son not long after, but Degwin taking the reigns from Deikun was when the Zeon movement really went off its rocker.

* ProperlyParanoid: Examples include "The Federation military is just using us as bait," "They're gonna take the Gundam away from me!" and (in [[WhatCouldHaveBeen the original series plan]]) "Bright's girlfriend is a Zeon spy!" What makes him fall under this trope is, '''he's always right'''.

* ActOfTrueLove: The entire franchise kicks off this way... although it's a DoubleSubversion. Amuro starts piloting the Gundam explicitly because he doesn't want Frau Bow to get hurt again... then he becomes ongoingly cold and distant to her due to the stress of it all, she spends the rest of the war worrying he'll be killed or that he doesn't care about her, their relationship undergoes a ''lot'' of strain, and it's only [[spoiler:after the FinalBattle with his PsychicPowers that Amuro does reaffirm that [[ImpliedLoveInterest Frau is very special and important to him]]]].

* PatientChildhoodLoveInterest: A potential TropeCodifier for this, since she predates harem anime.

* PatientChildhoodLoveInterest: A potential TropeCodifier for this, since she predates harem anime. She and Amuro have been {{Best Friend}}s for years; [[ThroughHisStomach she feeds him]], advises him, and her feelings for him appear to be [[TrueLove a very sincere and mature kind of love]] at 15, rather than any sort of pining or crush. It probably explains why she's generally quite patient.
