* IcarusAllusion: The second half of his name and his wings constantly melting in mid-flight, causing him to plummet to his destinations.

A spunky MagicalGirl with long, sparkly silver hair and the main protagonist. With her power of purification, she protects Quark Island and its inhabitants.

Alkaline's AloofBigBrother, a being made of acid who travels around the world and visits Quark Island twice a month. He sports wings, but since they're made of acid, they constantly melt, and he often ends up free-falling to his destinations.

* AloofBigBrother: Isn't on Quark Island often (he prefers exploring the world), thus he doesn't do much to help Alkaline protect it.
* DeadlySparring: Downplayed. His sparring matches with Alkaline can get ''very'' brutal, but with her being a MagicalGirl with HealingHands and him being made of a liquid, their matches never result in either of them actually being scathed.

* MeaningfulName: Named after the term "acid" (the direct opposite of "alkaline" on the pH scale), and the mythological figure Icarus (his constantly melting wings).

* ColorMotif: She sports big blue eyes, chalk white skin, a white garment, and silver hair.

* ArbitrarySkepticism: He's very prone to this whenever he encounters someone new, often commenting on how strange they are despite the fact he's a human-shaped hunk of rock who lives on an island made of food and is friends with a MagicalGirl that skates on sand.

* NoMouth: He's described as not having one, yet he can talk just fine.
* PullingThemselvesTogether: It doesn't take much for him to crumble into rubble, but he's always able to recombine his pieces back into his familiar humanoid form.
* RockMonster: Though there's hardly anything monstrous about him, not even his appearance.
* SiliconBasedLife: He's a living being made entirely of rock.

The "goodwill ambassador" of Edelga, a planet made entirely of gas. She's sent to Quark Island to assess its suitability for her people, the Edelgans, for their planet has been rendered inhospitable. That, and they're interested in Alkaline and her [[OnlyThePureOfHeart purification powers]], and want to learn more about her.

* CombatTentacles: The wispy tendrils she can sprout from her back, though she rarely uses them for combat. She used them to replant Alkaline's tree and rebuild Alkaline's house, and to keep Aluminok's mouth shut after he accidently scoops up a bunch of sand in his mouth.

* MisterBig: He's a pretty tiny guy, but rules the island and is respected by all.

The person telling the story of Alkaline and Quark Island to you, the reader.

* FramingDevice: The story proper is told by them, who used to tell it all the time to others, but stopped because they kept getting "weird looks" by those who didn't believe it. They started telling it again, however, after children began approaching and asking them about it, with you, the reader, being the latest person they're telling it to.

A spunky MagicalGirl with long, sparkly silver hair and the main protagonist. She protects the island and its inhabitants with her power of purification, and spends her days playing with her friends, skating on the sand, and fighting Calcia.

* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Her skin's as white as chalk.
* BigAnimeEyes: Her blue eyes are as big as they are beautiful.
* ColorMotif: White and Silver. White due to her pale skin and white garment, which symbolizes her purity and innocence; and Silver due to her silver hair, symbolizing her magical nature.
* PeterPanParody: Seems to be a downplayed version of this, being a young child with magical powers who lives on and protects the inhabitants of a fantastic island. There are certain things, however, that don't make her exactly this: She isn't a conniving trickster; she "sand skates" to get around instead of flying; the company she keeps, while fantastic creatures, are all adults mentally; and it's unknown if she's perpetually young or not.
** The Black Sugar Spire is more or less her equivalent of the [[ClockTower Elizabeth Tower]], though that's also downplayed since the spire's ''far'' from a pretty sight.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: A young, diminutive girl who protects the entirety of Quark Island.
* VaporWear: She wears a poncho-like piece of clothing that covers her whole body... but wears nothing underneath.

An anaconda and Iron Meister's advisor. He's calm and reasonable under normal conditions, but becomes ravenous and monstrous if he begins his day without breakfast.

* BlueIsCalm: He's a blue-scaled anaconda and is a pretty sweet creature at his calmest. The rabbits he tried to eat are at ease around him after he downs a mound of sand, and he has no qualms letting them bounce and slide on his body while he takes a nap.
* BodyHorror: The corners of his mouth go ''way'' past where his head begins, and his tongue ends in a hand... ''a fully-functioning hand''.
* EasilyForgiven: Everyone takes the fact he was trying to swallow innocent rabbits whole completely in stride once he calms down. Justified, as everyone already knew what possessed him to do it and are just thankful he's back to normal. Even the very rabbits he tried to eat have no problem bouncing and sliding on his body once he calms down.

* GlowingEyes: His green eyes glow when he's hungry and sees something he finds delicious. When he sees Noble Oble (whom he believed was "purple licorice" thanks to Alkaline), his green eyes glow so bright they turn ''white''.
* TheGoodChancellor: Good at his job and genuinely has the Quarkians' best interests at heart.

* KnottyTentacles: When he's first introduced, his entire body's tangled up in Lop Glade's trees due to him chasing the rabbits all throughout the place.
* MultipurposeTongue: His OverlyLongTongue, which ends in a fully-functioning hand. He tries grabbing Noble Oble by the waist with it (which he can't, since she's made of gas), and attempts to punch Alkaline by balling it into a fist and slinging it at her (which she effortlessly evades).

* OverlyLongTongue: Which acts as his sole limb, as it ends in a hand.
* ReluctantMonster: He's pretty monstrous when he's hungry, but once his belly's full, he's very reasonable and quite articulate. That, and he's genuinely embarrassed about making a scene after he comes to his senses.
* SnakesAreSinister: Averted. He's overall a pretty cool and reasonable anaconda.

* GentleGiant: The island's largest inhabitant and scariest-looking inhabitant but is very much on Alkaline's side.

* BigBrotherBully: Averted. He ''tries'' to act menacing towards Alkaline sometimes, but she's

* EvilIsSexy: She undeniably evil, but if the way her appearance is described, she's still quite the looker.

* DoesNotLikeShoes: Likely because she "sand skates" everywhere.

* VisualPun: Considering she's named after calcium and she's described as having GagBoobs... it's pretty obvious what Otneimica was going for with her.

* GagBoobs: She's sports a ''very'' big pair of breasts, which are further accentuated by the jumpsuit she wears.

* OrcusOnHisThrone: She'd rather transform people and objects into monsters and unleash them on Alkaline then take Alkaline directly. It may be justified, though, as her apparent fascination with the Black Sugar Spire hints she's biding her time for something much worse...

* NoMouth: He's described as not having one, yet he's can talk just fine.
