To that end, he essentially speedruns his education in magic by studying it at age 3 (it helps that he's a reincarnated genius programmer and used this knowledge by equating magic scripts to programming language), then develops his own improvements to the current Knight design while still being in school. Even before graduating the academy, he proves himself on the battlefield by singlehandedly stalling a behemoth-class demon beast and even dealing the killing blow to it when reinforcements arrived. He continues to prove himself to the king by designing new Knight models that prove their superiority on the battlefield until he is given access to the means of producing an Ether Reactor. Once he learns all that he needs to know, he finally designs and builds his own Silhouette Knight entirely from the ground up.

* GameChanger: Eru's innovations in Silhouette Knight technology jumpstarts what is essentially a technological arms race that had been stagnant for centuries. The Telestarle, for example, is only the 3rd generation Silhouette Knight design but instantly gained widespread use after its flaws were ironed out.

* NiceGuy: His rather odd moral code nonwithstanding, he's a decent and friendly person.

* PunchClockHero: While it is true that he values the lives of Fremmevaria's citizens and takes his duties as a Knight Runner very, very seriously, he does it all purely for the joy of designing, building, and riding Silhouette Knights. When Carlitos tries to recruit him for Zaloudek, he takes the offer seriously, but points out that Zaloudek really can't make him a better offer than he has as head of the Silver Phoenix.

* {{Expy}}: A young man from Earth who ends up in a fantasy world and uses his knowledge of science to assist in building mechs that run of magic instead of electricity and has a rival who specialises in aircraft rather than robots? Ernesti is basically [[Anime/AuraBattlerDunbine Shot Weapon]] if he was the hero instead of the villain.

* AwesomeButImpractical: His MO when designing Silhouette Knights, and personal armaments. Justified because his Earth programming experience brings with it a great many revolutionary designs, and every time they're implemented, learning about, not mention actually dealing with the drawbacks has to be handled in a Trial and Error sort of way.

* ZettaiRyouiki: Part of his androgynous outfit is grade A/B ones, just look at the image.

* TheSmurfettePrinciple: She is the only female highschool Knight Runner shown to date, at least in Fremmveria.

* CoolButInefficient: Combined with AwesomeButImpractical. His early prototypes always fall victim to this. [[spoiler: Even his AceCustom, Ikaruga, is officially listed as the most inefficient Knight in existence, and its controls are so convoluted only Ernie can use it, or someone as intelligent as Ernile, like, say, a highly-gifted modern software programmer from Earth.]]

* DudeLooksLikeALady: Ernie's appearance really takes after his mother. So much so, unless he actually spells it out, most people on either side of the fourth wall can't tell. His androgynous uniforms and outfits don't help.

* GadgeteerGenius: He designed his own customized "magic staff" at age 5, a GunBlade.

* HalfIdenticalTwins: With her brother, Kid.
* HeroicBastard: Like Kid, she's the product of an illicit union between her mother and an already married high-ranking noble.

* ThisIsUnforgivable: As enraged as Kid was upon learning of Zaloudek's intentions towards the princess of Kusperscha, she's doubly so. Had the crown prince of Zaloudek been anywhere nearby, she would have happily torn him to pieces.
