* AntiVillain: He primarily wants the best for his kingdom as it was in the past but his method of doing so is helping [[TheBigBad Kojar]].

* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: When the Sand Wand got knocked out of his possession, it landed in Sand Claw's pit. Seeing Sand Claw emerge, Troy immediately teleports out of the scene.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: He's shortly dealt with when he claims (for the second time, first time fire stopped him) his want to take over Ostura Town. [[spoiler:Apparently it's implied that King Dedede either left, or was kidnapped as his hammer is found in String Forrest.]]

* CombatPragmatist: Gryll takes advantage of the small stage and their ability to fly against Kirby, knocking or forcing him into the pits if out right damaging him through their bombs isn't a option.

* Ambiguous Gender: Reflecting canon, Gryll's gender is never mentioned, only their name.

* EvenEvilHasStandards: [[spoiler:[[AntiVillian While not evil]], they only captured Pearlei's people, not killed them. Also, while they did kidnap Febo, they didn't seem to harm him at all during that, aside from the cannonball to the face to knock the heroes out.]]

[[spoiler: He also uses it when he ambushes the heroes in Stage 3-3. Interestingly enough, he also uses the Ruins Wand to do so. Either it's a good conductor or the Ruins Wand can control lightning.]]

* Main/ShockwaveStomp: [[spoiler: In Stage 3-3, he displays this, being able to use it to cause the ground to erupt a thorn against Bandana Dee and to emit a normal shockwave to send Kirby into the air.]]
* Main/TeleportSpam: In true Kirby Boss fashion, he sports the ability to teleport [[spoiler: and does it multiple times to avoid direct attacks in Stage 3-3. On top of that, he's also able to teleport others from a distance as shown as early in Stage 1-4, where he teleports Troy in and out of the scene]].
