* AdaptationalDumbass: In the original mythology as the God of War, Ares is a brilliant strategist and tactician. In this story, he's a total moron who thinks warfare is just [[AttackAttackAttack throwing a bunch of troops at his problems until they go away]], and can't comprehend why this doesn't work on Orario, where each adventurer is a OneManArmy by necessity, having to deal with the Dungeon. Possible justification for this. Ares' Illiadic presentation was well-known to have these particular qualities, with the strategic/tactical brilliance all going to Athena's instead.
* AdaptationalWimp: In his original mythology, he's one of the top gods in terms of power and martial skill. Here, he's a joke who gets his sword broken the first time he draws it, and were it not for a convenient landslide, would likely have been [[DisneyVillainDeath "sent to heaven"]] by Ais's blade.
* ArcVillain: After the defeat of Ishtar, he becomes the FinalBoss of Season 2.
* BullyingADragon: He keeps launching attacks on Orario, which has adventurers so powerful that, if any one of them knew where his base camp is, could simply waltz right in and completely annihilate his entire army with minimal effort. He can't comprehend that this is the reason his armies get constantly routed and sent home badly battered, if they even make it back at all.
* DidNotThinkThisThrough: His "brilliant" plan to take one of the gods of Orario hostage to force a surrender has many flaws, not the least of which is that this will provoke the familia of said god to retaliate with lethal force if said god is harmed in any way, presuming he even gets lucky and gets past said familia to grab the god in the first place. It's only sheer luck that he managed to grab Hestia when she was asked to grab some potatoes in the fields just outside Orario's gates.
* DumbMuscle: Does this ever apply. He's an absolute moron who can't understand why sending waves upon waves of poorly-trained knights and cavalry against Orario isn't getting him anywhere. Even among the gods he's known to have "100% muscles between his ears."
* IRejectYourReality: He is so convinced that he's a brilliant military strategist and profound martial talent that he ignores all evidence to the contrary. In fact, the same village that nurses Hestia back to health easily intercepts and subdues him when comes to chase her down, ''despite being populated entirely by farmers and peasants who have no martial talent or training whatsoever,'' and he still flails around boasting of how great a warrior he is. The crown prince of Rakia can only sigh in resignation.

* NoYou: Every time his retainers, including the crown prince of Rakia, calls his actions foolish, and him a total musclehead, he turns around and retorts "the man who calls others a musclehead is the actual musclehead".

* TooDumbToLive: Continuously launches attacks on Orario, where a single adventurer can, and does, routinely rout his entire army, can't comprehend why his troops come back battered and bloody, assuming they come back at all, and then goes on to ''really'' provoke Orario as a whole, by kidnapping one of the local gods to hold as a "godstage" to try and force a surrender, instead angering '''all the local gods''', most of whom are way, way stronger and nastier than he is when provoked.
