Angelo Espinosa was a former gang member from the east Los Angeles area who faked his own death to leave that part of his life behind. His powers allow him to stretch, bend, expand, wrap, depress or deform the six feet of extra skin which he possesses.

Synch's mutant power gives off a bio-energetic aura that allows him to duplicate the effect of the powers of any superpowered being in his vicinity, and sometimes the power itself, essentially becoming "in synch" with that person. When Synch uses his powers, a multi-colored aura appears around his body.

!!Generation-X

[[folder: Main Cast]]

'''Sean Cassidy / Banshee'''

A detective and minor Irish nobleman, Sean Cassidy was a former Interpol inspector with flight and sound manipulation abilities. After his wife died in a terrorist bombing, he blamed his cousin, causing him to run off with his daughter and driving a rift between the two. He was mind-controlled by an alien terrorist group but freed by the X-Men. Later, he joins the X-Men when the original five are kidnapped. Being about 10-15 years older than the rest of the recruits, he was only active for a short amount of time but still hung around as a reserve and as a mentor, who applied his experience in espionage and anti-terrorism to the younger members of the group.

* BigBrotherMentor
* CainAndAbel: With Black Tom Cassidy, his cousin (or brother, in some continuities).
* CaptainEthnic
* [[spoiler: DroppedABridgeOnHim - or rather, a 747.]]
* IBelieveICanFly: Attempted to explain as him riding on soundwaves. No, just...no.
** It came with a CrowningMomentOfFunny in the TV series, when he gave Wolverine a ride.
* MakeMeWannaShout
* OfficerOHara
* {{Oireland}}
* OlderAndWiser
* PermaStubble: Has this for a while.
* RetiredBadass

'''Emma Grace Frost / White Queen'''

See Characters/{{X-Men 2000s Members}}.

'''Everett Thomas / Synch'''

* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Jubilee wanted him, he wanted Monet (and thinks of Jubilee as a friend).
* AllYourPowersCombined
* BaldBlackLeaderGuy: Or at least, Bald Black Level-Headed Guy. The team didn't really have an official leader.
* GogglesDoNothing: Sometimes wears a pair.
* HeroicSacrifice
* KilledOffForReal
* MegaManning

'''Jubilation Lee / Jubilee'''

See Characters/{{X-Men 90s Members}}.

'''Paige Guthrie / Husk'''

* BarbieDollAnatomy/ MagicPants: She's naked when using her powers.
* DeepSouth
* FunetikAksent: She slips into a Kentucky accent when scared or stressed.
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Husk was revealed as this. Her brother was already the super-hero Cannonball, and she tried everything she could to get mutant powers to develop, almost killing herself a few times. Finally she just about gave up, crying and clenching herself... when her skin started flaking off like old wallpaper. She ripped and shredded and tore herself up, which for anyone else would have been scary as hell, but for her, it was the happiest moment of her life.
* KidAppealCharacter
* MagicPants: Husk has the ability to transform her skin into any material she can think of; but she must tear off the existing layer to do so. This results in her being naked a fair amount of time, but censor steam is not used in all scenes if her new skin serves the purpose of costume. She has specifically refused to revert to her human form on occasions because of her nudity.
* MayDecemberRomance: For a while, she was in a relationship with Archangel. This has since fallen by the wayside.

'''Angelo Espinosa / Skin'''

* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Gray skin, then blue skin.
* ArtEvolution / ProgressivelyPrettier: Skin became increasingly attractive over the course of the book's run, going from downright ugly in his first appearances to basically becoming a grey-skinned Gambit with a goatee.
* BlessedWithSuck: He's got extra skin. Like, a ''lot''. Like six feet of it. He keeps it all in normally, and it really just amounts to a limited ability to stretch, but it's still just really weird.
* CListFodder
* FakingTheDead: Before his time with Generation-X, after a deal with a rival gang gone bad.
* IJustWantToBeNormal
* KilledOffForReal
* LatinLover: He ''wishes''.
* RubberMan: Of sorts
* WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway: To his credit [[HeartIsAnAwesomePower he was creative with it in battle]].

'''Monet St. Croix / M'''

* AbsoluteCleavage
* AlphaBitch
* {{Ambadassador}}
* AmbiguouslyBrown
* ButNotTooBlack
* ComboPlatterPowers
* DeadpanSnarker
* FlyingBrick
* FusionDance
* NighInvulnerable
* OverlyLongName: Monet Yvette Clarisse Maria Therese St. Croix
* ThePunishment: Emplate turning her int Penance.
* RetCon - [[http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2007/08/16/comic-book-urban-legends-revealed-116/ Here's the story of the whole mess]].
* SuperPowerLottery: Monet St. Croix had flight, superstrength, superspeed, nigh-invulnerability, telepathy, telescopic vision and genius-level intellect. Autism too, but it was treated as a superpower more often than not. She could also merge with her siblings (or her siblings could merge to form her), and the siblings had powers of their own.
* TangledFamilyTree: Hell yeah
* [[BettyAndVeronica Veronica]]: For Synch's Affections.

'''Jonothon Evan Starsmore / Chamber'''

* AntiHero: Type I
* BadassLongcoat
* BlessedWithSuck: Chamber's mutation gave him the ability to emit fire from his mouth and chest area. His inability to turn it off eventually completely destroyed his lower jaw and most of his chest. He didn't really feel any pain from it, but he's still missing his jaw and has a nearly completely exposed ribcage.
* DisabilitySuperpower
* {{Goth}}
* HowDoIShotWeb: He would be able to reconstruct his face, if he knew how.
* IJustWantToBeNormal
* {{Jerkass}}
** JerkWithAHeartOfGold
* LukeIAmYourFather: He's a distant descendant of Apocalypse, and recently got the markings to prove it.
* PowerDegeneration: He had an explosive power that blew off his jaw and upper chest prior to joining the team. Using his power slowly widened the explosive area, he near literally had part of his face and chest "on fire.
* PsychicPowers
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: Not needing to eat, breathe or drink as well as communicating telepathically.

'''Penance / Hollow'''

* AbsurdlySharpBlade: Pretty much all of her is this.
* BlessedWithSuck
* DarkAgeOfSupernames
* LegacyCharacter: The Penance body has had several inhabitants. In her original MysteriousPast WildChild form, she was revealed to be the true Monet St. Croix. She was freed only by her sisters (see below) taking up residence. When they were freed, the body was thought to be empty... yet eventually began to act on its own, but later scratched the word "home" to show that whoever she is now, she still sees Gen X as her friends. This is the current Penance, and there is little attempt to answer the "did the body become sentient on its own, or is yet someone else stuck in there, and if so, who?" question.
* NighInvulnerability
* OneSteveLimit: Was Penance until [[NewWarriors Speedball]] became [[CivilWar Penance]], then she became Hollow.
* ThePunishment: She was the result of Emplate's punishment of M.
* RetCon: What her true identity was revealed to be was ''far'' from the original plan.
* SoullessShell: After, the M-Twins were freed from her body.
* TangledFamilyTree: The St. Croix family when she was M and then the twins.
* TooManyBelts: Her uniform is nothing but belts.
* TouchOfDeath: Not to Rogue's level, let alone Wither's, but she's every bit as razor-sharp as she looks, and the material she's made of is also rather dense, said to be diamond-hard. Though nobody would ever come out and say she's Wolverine-level in this respect, she ''is'' the go-to person for slashing apart the otherwise-undamageable bad thing and has had some impressive feats. This makes touching anyone without gravely harming them quite difficult.
* TheVoiceless
* WolverineClaws: On her hands, feet '''and''' hair

'''Mondo'''

* BigBeautifulMan: Though Scott Lobdell claimed he was more "big boned".
* ComboPlatterPowers: Depending upon what he absorbs.
* ChromeChampion
* CloningBlues
* DishingOutDirt
* ExtraOreDinary
* FastTunnelling
* MegaManning: Organic or inorganic material, not mutant powers.
* TheMole: Mondo's clone.
* {{Sizeshifter}}
* SuperStrength
* WildSamoan: The real Mondo.

'''Nicole and Claudette St. Croix /The M-Twins / M-Plate'''

* AmbiguouslyBrown
* AmbiguousGender: As M-Plate
* BecomingTheMask: Monet / M, see below.
* DemotedToExtra: The only members of the St. Croix clan to not return after Generation X ended, despite having been who we thought of as Monet for quite some time.
* FusionDance: Emplate + The M-Twins = M-Plate. Also, the Penance reveal is that ''that'' is the true Monet, while the twins merged to become a facsimile of their sister.
* HeroicSacrifice: To free the true Monet from the Penance body, they had to take up residence in it themselves.
* PolarOppositeTwins: Nicole's your normal talkative 8-year old, but Claudette suffers from what is referred to as autism but presents more as "perpetually staring in a given direction, but insanely powerful on the rare occasion that she acts."
* TangledFamilyTree: Worse when part of your powers is merging with any family member to become a whole new person who isn't the sum of your parts.
* TheRainman: Claudette
* UncannyFamilyResemblance: When the twins merge to disguise themselves as Monet.

'''Leech'''

* BadPowersGoodPeople
* BreakTheCutie: Poor Leech has been through a lot of Hell, from being a survivor of Morlock Massacre to an unwilling pawn used for depowering mutants by a villain.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Artie
* OnlyOneName
* PowerIncontinence: Accidentally depowering those who were trying to save him was a big problem for him. He has gained some control as time goes on.
* PowerNullifier: Leech has the ability to suppress energy around him, this includes electrical energy and a mutants ability.
* ProgressivelyPrettier
* ThirdPersonPerson

'''Arthur "Artie" Maddicks / Artie'''

* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Leech
* MindOverMatter: Had limited telepathy to "mind-lock" people and prevent them from acting.
* ProgressivelyPrettier
* TheSpeechless
* WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway: Artie can telepathically project images from his mind.

'''Franklin Richards'''

* AstralProjection
* GooGooGodlike
* LamarckWasRight
* MindOverMatter
* RealityWarper
* PowerLimiter: Psychic blocks keep him from being as all-powerful as his full potential. Whatever his power set at any given time is what leaks through. Naturally, using his full power tends to make any of it unusable for some time. These days, he has ''no'' powers and feels like the odd one out with the FantasticFour as his family and a beyond-Reed-class genius as his little sister.
* {{Seers}}
* StoryBreakerPower
* SuperpowerLottery: His Reality Warping powers and insane amount of PsychicPowers.
* {{Telepathy}}

'''Gaia'''

* KidFromTheFuture: Or rather, from an alternate dimension.
* MindOverMatter
* PutOnABus: No return trip as of yet.
* RealityWarper
* {{Telepathy}}
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Pink hair for her.

'''Clarice Ferguson / Blink'''

* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Lavender skin
* EnsembleDarkhorse: It's Morph from ''XMenTheAnimatedSeries'' all over again. Introduced to be a SacrificialLamb, she was loved so much that she was brought back: first in ''ComicBook/AgeOfApocalypse'', whose Blink gets to survive the SnapBack and become the leader and main character of ''{{Exiles}}.'' With that series currently not in production, the original Blink has returned.
* FacialMarkings
* LostInImitation: The ''Exiles'' Blink is so well-known that all adaptations' versions of Blink resemble that one and not this one. That even extends to ''this one when she's brought BackFromTheDead.''
* MonochromaticEyes
* PortalCut: Her power was to "blink" things to ''shreds'' in a way that only works in a comic book... thankfully.
* ProgressivelyPrettier: In a roundabout way. In the ''Phalanx Covenant'' X-Over that leads to the creation of ''Generation X'', her colors were a bit dingier and her haircut... interesting. Then we meet the cute ''AOA'' Blink. When that version moves to ''Exiles'', she basically becomes a pink supermodel with only the facial markings to remind you of ''Gen-X'' Blink. When ''Gen-X'' Blink returns in ''Regenesis'', she is ''Exiles'' Blink with short hair in terms of both design and powers.
* SacrificialLamb
* TeleportersAndTransporters: It turns out this is her true power; in its unrefined state, it's bad news - imagine if, from your waist and above, every molecule in your body was transported a fraction of a centimeter to the left. But ''Exiles'' Blink can create portals to any place she can think of, and with external help, even cross dimensions. ''Gen-X'' Blink can now use her powers in this way since her return.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Purple is her shade.

'''Japheth / Maggott'''

A south African teenager from a poor family. As a child, his family thought he was dying from stomach cancer because his abdomen constantly bulged and he was constantly hungry. Actually, he was going through a mutation in which his stomach turned into a pair of semi-autonomous slugs. To feed, Japheth had to have the slugs burst out of his stomach, feed on any substance, then return, giving him a burst of superstrength. Japheth joined the X-Men for only a short time before vanishing and reappearing years later to be killed in a Canadian concentration camp for mutants.

* BrotherChuck
* CListFodder / WeHardlyKnewYe
* ExtremeOmnivore
* OlderAlterEgo: Originally Maggott is just a skinny teenager with normal skin complexion but when he powers up by his digestive matter-eating slugs, his skin turns blue and becomes musclebound to fight.
* ShooOutTheNewGuy: To a point that you'd think the TropeNamer is a ShoutOut to ''him''!
* TotallyRadical

[[/folder]]

[[folder: Villains]]

'''Marius St. Croix / Emplate / M-Plate'''

* AmbiguousGender: As M-Plate
* AssimilationPlot: Also as M-Plate
* BigBad
* BlessedWithSuck: While powerful, if he didn't feed on enough marrow, he'd eventually be drawn back into an EldritchLocation where he would be horribly tortured by the creatures therein. Despite this, he seemed to have fun being evil.
* ComboPlatterPowers
* FusionDance: Emplate + The M-Twins = M-Plate
* ImAHumanitarian: [[PickyPeopleEater But only for mutant bone marrow]].
* {{Invisibility}}
* LovecraftianSuperpower: Uses his fanged mouths in the palms to see and "read" mutant auras, and feed on mutant marrow.
* IntangibleMan
* MegaManning: After feeding on mutant marrow.
* MonochromaticEyes
* OurVampiresAreDifferent
* PowerPalms: Used in feeding on mutants.
* TheUnfavourite: His father loved Monet more and it took its toll on their relationship.

'''George Baker / D.O.A.'''

* BattleButler: For Emplate.
* CheshireCatGrin
* FunWithAcronyms: No one know's it's meaning however.
* TheIgor
* TeleportersAndTransporters: Has a lepton imploder (an interdimensional portal maker) in his jacket.

'''Adrienne Frost / White Queen'''

* CainAndAbel: She and her sister, Emma.
* [[EvilRedheads Evil Redhead]]
* KilledOffForReal: By Emma, after her actions got Synch killed.
* MostCommonSuperPower
* PsychicPowers: Adrienne has psychometry in which she can read "psychic imprints" that people leave on objects that they have handled and sometimes can even look into the future of the person or object she touches.
* RichBitch
* SmugSnake
* TyrantTakesTheHelm: Of the Massachusetts Academy, but only briefly.

'''Johnston Coffin'''

* AndIMustScream: You don't want to know what he did to the kids from his ''first'' prison three decades ago, but needless to say it ends with Gen X having to MercyKill them.
* ArcVillain
* ComboPlatterPowers: Heightened endurance, heightened reflexes, energy control, and probably more.
* DisneyVillainDeath: Although, if he really is MadeOfEvil, this may not be enough to kill him. Either way, he hasn't been seen since.
* EvilOldFolks
* GlowingEyesOfDoom
* HellholePrison: Runs one of the most hellish in all fiction.
* ImAHumanitarian: While he doesn't ''eat'' people (that we know of), he's not adverse to ''stuffing and mounting them as trophies'', and his prize possession is the skull of a child he personally shot between the eyes.
* MadeOfEvil: Claims to be this.
* MaybeMagicMaybeMundane: Well, mundane for the MarvelUniverse, anyway; he claims to be MadeOfEvil, but other characters suspect he's simply a powerful mutant, and it's never confirmed either way.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: Wanted by the UN for crimes against humanity. So of course [[{{Eagleland}} the US Government]] gives him a job instead. He doesn't seem to like Hispanics much, either.
* RapeAsDrama: If the [[SlasherSmile creepy grin]] he gave when he mentioned he was considering leaving the female Gen Xers alive is any indication...
* ScareEmStraight: It's noted in the issues that he was given a blank check to do what he pleased to America's teenagers in order to prevent another Columbine, but this is probably no longer the case due to the sliding timescale and it's implied in the final issue of the arc that he doesn't really care about doing that anyway and took the job so he could [[HarmfulToMinors torture and kill lots of kids]].
* TheSociopath
* WouldHurtAChild: Let's put it like this; having your head crushed? That the ''second''-worst thing that can happen to you under his watch.
