Also notable is that, despite being aware of many of the details her husband's infidelity and mistreatment, Roxanne and Lute still take a fair bit getting to know and like each other actually begin a physical rather than emotional affair, and she's still shown to feel somewhat bad about betraying her husband despite knowing he rather deserves it, demonstrating Roxanne's good character.

* KarmicJackpot: After enduring years of mistreatment at the hands of her loutish husband and holding strong in not sinking to his level, Roxanne, in the absolute worst case, gets to enjoy a few weeks of happiness with a man who shows her how sweet love can be, has her wicked husband [[KarmicDeath keel over in his moment of triumph when the excitement of having his plot to ruin her life proves too much for him]], and takes over Boan, leading the province to prosperity, doing a better job than he ever did. In endings where she's instead reunited with Lute, including the canon and GoldenEnding, this means she ends up becoming a queen and living out her days in happiness and peace, surrounded by both the sisterly love of her husband's other wives and the romantic and sexual love of Lute himself.
