In ''Three Houses'', most of them can be recruited pre-TimeSkip, which in most cases is the only way to not kill them them in Crimson Flower and Verdant Wind; in ''Three Hopes'' they all appear as enemies on Scarlet Blaze, although most can be spared this time without necessitating recruitment.

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: A minor one [[spoiler: but when Emile finally reveals the [[ParentalIncest true]] [[ArchnemesisDad reason]] why he killed his father and decides to leave the monastery permanently to protect Mercedes from his Death Knight side, she raises her voice (which she very rarely does) telling how it's not fair for him to tell her all that and leave her forever again.]]

* TheCasanova: He is known to be [[ReallyGetsAround successful with women]] to the point where it earned him a [[AnythingThatMoves negative]] [[IntentionalHeartbreaker reputation with them]]. During the games story he trickles between this and HandsomeLech due to said reputation and his insecurities keeping him from forming meaningful relationships with the girls he supports in the main cast.

* LikeFatherLikeSon: Felix ironically fits this trope despite his extremely strained relationship with Rodrigue, since his rebellious streak in the Academy mirrors his father's own rebellious nature back when Rodrigue and and Lambert were students. [[spoiler:On the Azure Moon route, Felix even matches his father's devotion to Dimitri, becoming near inconsolable once the king passes away in their paired ending.]] They also both dislike sweets, as ''Three Hopes'' shows.

** Despite coming off like kind of a goofball, he has a taste for fine art and theatre; one of his favorite gifts is the Landscape Painting and he mentions to Byleth that he likes the opera.

* NumberTwo:
** In the Azure Moon route, Felix basically becomes second-in-command of the army after Gilbert, since Dimitri is in no condition to lead the army and he often directly reports on things to Byleth. When Dimitri finally comes around, Felix does step back and allow Dimitri to take the reins again but remains an important supporting character.
** He serves as this in Azure Gleam in ''Three Hopes''. In Chapter 7, Dimitri returns to the capital with just Dedue and Rodrigue, leaving Felix in charge of the standing army at the frontlines. Felix also tends to be the first person he consults for military advice.

** He's the only Blue Lion without a previous connection to another member. As a result, he's the only one without attack-boosting supports, and on [[spoiler:the Silver Snow and Verdant Wind]] routes, he [[spoiler:ends up fighting for the Empire post-timeskip]]. In ''Three Hopes'', contrasting the UndyingLoyalty of his classmates (barring Mercedes on Scarlet Blaze), he can be persuaded to defect from the Kingdom.

* NobleSavage: Despite the SFF storyline, Dedue is portrayed with certain magical native tropes. He's notably shown to express self-sacrifical tendencies for Dimitri's sake, with lines such as "You risked your life to save a foreigner you had never met. [...] And I would cast it aside in an instant if my death were to your benefit."

* WhiteMansBurden: The way Dimitri is written with Dedue and related subplots gives this impression, as Dedue is written with lines such as, "You risked your life to save a foreigner you had never met [...] And I would cast it aside in an instant if my death were to your benefit."

Her death has a noticeable effect not just on Dimitri, but will be the talk of the camp]].

* YouShallNotPass: In ''Three Hopes'' at the end of the battle in chapter 8 of Scarlet Blaze, [[spoiler:the Imperial Army have beaten Dimitri and Dedue at Arianrhod. Dedue volunteers first to guard Dimitri while he escapes, before Ingrid enters the scene and guards both of their escapes, giving up her life for them. Ingrid then dies with no regrets, seeing as she accomplished what she set out to do, which is something even some of the Black Eagles [[AlasPoorVillain finds tragic]]]].

Ingrid won't forgive him for flirting with her grandmother when he was only eight and recalls a time where he made eyes at a scarecrow when he was ten.
