much.
*** Except that they demonstrate this trope more at the start of the movie than at the end, meaning that they are actively learning from Jake, as he is in turn learning their ways. Also, it's perfectly possible for a language learner to sound perfectly fluent in some topics, yet fall into YouNoTakeCandle-territory with others they are less familiar with.

Firstly, Rooting For The Empire was already listed alongside Draco In Leather Pants. Second, it's not really a character trope.

* EvolutionaryLevels: The Na'vi are "more evolutionarily advanced" than humans (according to tie-in media), implying that evolutionary processes have 'levels', rather than just ... results. Could also be taken to describe the level of integration with their surroundings (even if this wasn't intended, it still seems to hold). However it happened, they ''did'' evolve the ability to link into wildlife like Neo plugs into the Matrix, so one could argue an extreme amount of adaptation to their environment could qualify. It seems that most advanced creatures of Pandora have that "Neo plugs", which could mean something (obviously Eywa) directed their evolution, eliminating non-compatible versions with mind-control compatible ones. So, technically, it's Intelligent Design...if that's what happened, which, this being fiction, is unlikely.

added to Biblical name references

** Biblical name references abound, there are a few Hebrew words in the Na'vi language. Navi itself means "the prophet," and Eywa usually translates as "Eve," with the meaning "mother of all life."

** Considering that the native population is picking off humans bit by bit, it should not be surprising that he should feel this way.

* MoralEventHorizon: We understand you had your orders, ''[[spoiler: but did you have to sound so goddamn HAPPY when you destroyed Hometree, and slaughtered an unknown number of children?!?!?!]]''

children?!?!?!]]'

** Or he's, ya know, trying to at least stop a war-crazy traitor who's sole job was to get the Na'vi to leave Hometree peacefully, and instead rebelled (in his Avatar body that the RDA paid millions for) and caused the loss of countless human and Na'vi lives.
Is there an issue? Send a MessageReason:
Badly worded, self-contradictory, and really belongs on the main page.

* HumansAreBastards: TheMovie. Tying, perhaps, with ''DistrictNine''. That said, only two major human characters are bona fide bastards. Grace is openly respectful of the native's culture, and Jake [[spoiler:and Trudy]] switch sides as soon as the MoralEventHorizon is crossed. However, aside from that, humans contribute absolutely nothing positive to the story and are essentially worthless to the plot except as antagonists. They are condemned for killing Mother Earth and even the protagonist [[spoiler: abandons his human identity to become an ACTUAL Navi for the rest of his life.]] If you read the HumansAreBastards article, it follows this movie ''exactly'' until you get to the "In many recent works...". The only thing missing from this movie is the evil hunters.
** Subverted, with WordOfGod stating the general human population of Earth is pissed off at the RDA's actions on Pandora.

That is such "The character can do no right in my eyes" horsehocky...

* DesignatedHero: Jake, via some AlternateCharacterInterpretation. In the movie he: Screws up peaceful negotiations between the human and Na'vi, leading to the hometree getting destroyed, abandons humanity for a crush, and convince the obviously out-matched Na'vi to fight against the humans, gathers a war party, and promptly gets thousands more people (mostly Na'vi, but including humans) killed. The only reason he actually won in the end was due to a DeusExMachina.

Seriously? Someone needs a cure for the leather pants fetish.

* BloodKnight: The good Colonel seems to love combat [[ColonelKilgore a little too much]].
** On the contrary, considering how badly he tries to keep his men alive, it's more likely he's only so in favor of using force because it would neutralize the hostile forces that are whittling away at his forces, and because all the other proposed solutions seem so glaringly likely to fail. Which they do, and how.
** Not to mention that his entire plan to deal with a massive force of hostiles is to kill a tree to scare them off.

war with the Na'vi, and you can feel the tension between Selfridge, who is going for a massive force token attempt for a peaceful solution, and Quaritch, who very obviously resents being kept on a leash and is looking for an excuse for some good ol' indiscriminate use of hostiles is to kill a tree to scare them off.force.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Just look at this character sheet. Pretty much every morally questionable action he makes can be seen in two lights: A murderous, racist CompleteMonster, or a {{Badass}} War Hero who will stop at nothing to protect humanity or someone who believe's their actions are completely justifiable means to an end, combined with "a little bit" of stress.

I don't know how many times I've had to put this out there, but unless a series actually uses an alignment syste alignments do not belong. If you thing that Miles Quaritch is Lawful Good or whatever it is he's listed as that I don't remember, then take it to the Lawful Good(or whatever) page.
