* {{Determinator}}: He's certainly committed to his goal of finding the Hand of Midas, but [[DetrimentalDetermination it's even to his own detriment]]. Cassim is willing to give up everything to find this treasure, including his own family, despite the fact that Cassim was ostensibly doing it all for them.
* DetrimentalDetermination: Cassim is driven as both the leader of the Forty Thieves and as a great thief. But in giving up so much to find the Hand of Midas, he's too stubborn to admit that [[KnowWhenToFoldEm he should have backed out years ago]]. By the time the movie starts, he's lost his wife, abandoned his son, and is continuing on his quest mostly because [[IveComeTooFar he feels like he's gone too far to just stop looking now]].

** The crux of Cassim's character arc is learning that [[DetrimentalDetermination his determination to succeed at finding his treasure has ultimately cost him more than it's gained him]]. Cassim abandoned his son, left his wife to die, and was never there when his family needed him most. Ultimately, Cassim has to learn that his "ultimate treasure" wasn't worth the trouble.

* {{Acrofatic}}: Both the Fat Thief, and the other larger thieves are surprisingly light on their feet, and can even dance, as shown in the "Welcome To The Forty Thieves" number.
* CardCarryingVillain: They're all very open about what a ruthless pack of cutthroats they are.

* EnlightenedAntagonist: One of the thieves is a Fakir who can levitate using a rope. In fact, he's the only member with any sort of supernatural power.

* DumbMuscle: The Fat Thief, he's shown as one of the physically strongest members, and is also... let's just say dull.
* EvilIsOneBigHappyFamily: Downplayed; the strength of the Thieves lie in the fact that they always have eachothers back and look out for one another, and to be fair, they seem to follow that creed for the most part. Problem is, the group also operates on the concept of KlingonPromotion, meaning that any of them can die at a moments notice, with their killer taking their place, and this has to be treated like no big deal for the gang to function.

* PsychoKnifeNut: Almost all the thieves use knives and blades of various sizes, but special mention goes to The Assassin, who's almost literally armed to the teeth with them, and is often shown using throwing knives.
* QuirkyMinibossSquad: The whole band counts, but this trope really gets distilled to it's essence with the seven surviving thieves after Sa'luks betrayal.
