** It's downplayed, but in regards to his working relationship with Sae, he does show genuine respect for her. Unlike in canon, he doesn't call her a "foolish woman" behind her back as he prepares to assassinate Ren.

* ParentsAsPeople: Late in the story, there were indications that Ren's parents truly cared for him despite their ParentalNeglect of him as they had tried to contact and ask Ren about how he is doing after they realized their mistake.[[spoiler:They also went to Tokyo just to talk to Ren in person during Christmas so they can make amends with their son]]. However, their ParentalAbandonment of him left Ren bitter and by the time Ren's mother tried to contact him shortly after the Casino heist, Ren refused to speak with them and the one time Ann answered his parents calls, Ren curtly cut the call off. During the period of [[spoiler:Ren's arrest to testify against Shido, it turns out that this goes both ways as they believed that Ren is so independent that he doesn't quite need his parents, when he really does ''need'' his parents support, especially during the day he was brought to the police station for his false assault and they realized it far too late, after he had been sent to Tokyo and Ren hasn't forgiven them yet.]]

* PetTheDog: According to Sae, he was the only one in the department who treated her with respect in spite of her gender. And as shown from Akechi's own perspective, those feelings are indeed genuine.

* SparedByTheAdaptation: [[spoiler:Unlike in the vanilla game, which this story is based on, where his fate remains [[UncertainDoom nebulous]], Akechi manages to survive his confrontation with the Phantom Theives thanks to Cognitive Akechi being moved to the Shadow Shido boss fight.]]

* KansaiRegionalAccent: As in the Japanese version in ''Arena/Ultimax'' she has a Kansai accent. This carries into the fanfic, as Ken refers to her having a Kansai accent, comparing her accent to Ryuji's mother's accent.

* {{Foil}}: He's this to Sae. Shinjiro is blunt with a FaceOfAThug. He excels in cooking, a traditionally feminine art. He chooses to become Ken's guardian by choice. He also openly bickers with Ken and their relationship is leagues better than what it was in ''VideoGame/Persona3'' even though Ken has insecurities about being a burden to him. Shinjiro puts his friends above his career, telling Ken that he would delay his career for Ken's sake if given the choice.

* HiddenHeartOfGold: Shinjiro still has trouble showing that he cares sometimes.
** Ren also teases him about it in Ken's rank 9, saying that there's nothing wrong with showing Ken how much he cares.

* ButtMonkey: In ''Persona Q2: The Ace Edition'', he's constantly made fun of by Miyuki and Kaito and the Phantom Thieves, knowing Akechi's true nature, make no attempt to back him up.

* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: Given that Minako is a Wild Card and is essentially NumberTwo amongst the Shadow Operatives' ranks, she definitely has the power to back up her rank.

* SmallRoleBigImpact: Her disappearance, plus the knowledge that Igor gave Ren the ability to use the Third Eye, tips Yu off to the fact that something is off, but he has yet to act on it. [[spoiler:Her absence also allows for Mementos to merge with Inaba, since she’s no longer around to protect it]].
