So she opens up with the quadjet's guns and blows up a Kree ship in her way. Not only does this open the door for her, it forces the Kree to stop firing because she just blasted a gigantic hole into the vacuum of space.

Per ATT, no meta moments

!!'''Meta'''
* After several years of waiting, Carol Danvers finally makes it to the big screen. Sure, it's been delayed several times to fans' chagrin, but she's finally here. And she's the first solo female protagonist of the MCU films, unlike Hope van Dyne or Gamora or the female Avengers (and ''Series/AgentCarter'' and ''Series/JessicaJones'' stayed on TV). Very fitting for the other Captain of the Avengers.
* Coulson returns to the big screen on this movie!
** The young Nick Fury and Phil Coulson continue the trend of Marvel Studios movies mastering [[SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome the de-aging technology]].
* And not just him. Probably (hopefully) owing to complaint of being underdeveloped villains and thus wasting the potential of their actors, making use of this movie being a prequel, [[https://www.cbr.com/why-captain-marvel-brings-back-mcu-characters/ Ronan and Korath are also returning]].
* The simple fact that Creator/KevinFeige has confirmed that Carol Danvers is ''the'' most powerful hero in the MCU so far. Thanos beware.
** To put it in context, she drove away an entire Kree bomber battalion, destroying a bomber by crashing through it like it was tissue paper, ''and'' got Ronan to back away. ''Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy'' would have ended a whole lot faster had she been around for that movie... The only one with as impressive feats as she does is perhaps Thor in ''Film/AvengersInfinityWar''.
* After the social media embargo lifted, one post really stands out: "ComicBook/{{Thanos}} is fucked."
* The movie scored ''massive'' numbers during its opening weekend, $153 million domestically (seventh highest of the MCU) and $455 million worldwide (the sixth biggest opening weekend ever worldwide, no less). It can be explained by the fact that it was released pretty much everywhere the same week, but it's still impressive.
** This also makes it the highest opening MCU film to feature its main character's first appearance (''Film/{{Black Panther|2018}}'' is out because he'd appeared in ''Film/CaptainAmericaCivilWar'').
** It's worth noting that former Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter had strong reservations against greenlighting this movie or ''Black Panther'' because of his belief that the only economically viable superhero movies were ones with white male leads. DC's ''Film/{{Wonder Woman|2017}}'' already proved him wrong two years prior, then ''Black Panther'' in 2018, and now Kevin Feige has delivered the knockout blow on this belief with ''Captain Marvel''.
** In its fourth week the film entered the billion dollar club, the first female superhero film, and the first to be its hero’s first onscreen appearance, to do so. This also means that the only two MCU films to reach the milestone without the help of BreakoutCharacter Tony Stark are the ones with a black hero and a female hero, so what’s that you were saying, Mr. Perlmutter?
** Co-director Anna Boden has the distinction of being the first woman to direct a billion dollar live-action movie.
