** Ironwood ''thinks'' he's this with Salem, believing that she deliberately targeted him and mocked his defeat at Beacon with the Chess Piece. In reality, not only does she see him as an obstacle and UnwittingPawn for her to exploit because of the threat that ''Atlas'' poses under the machinations of her actual ArchEnemy, in reality it's Watts and Cinder who have a far more personal grudge against the General, with Cinder being the one who actually set the virus against Atlas at Beacon. [[spoiler: When she finally meets Ironwood face to face in the finale of Volume 8, she barely even spares him a passing glance.]]

** However, Ruby's series-wide archenemy is Cinder Fall. Ruby hates Cinder for causing the destruction of Beacon, as well as the deaths of Ozpin and Pyrrha. Cinder, for her part, hates Ruby for destroying her eye and arm.

Salem acknowledges that Ozpin is correct to believe a united humanity is extremely powerful and therefore seeks to divide humanity destroy the ability of both Ozpin and humanity itself to have hope for a better future. She is also aware he has placed his faith in a "smaller, more honest soul", and she implies that she sees the destruction of that soul's optimism as the key to destroying Ozpin. The "soul" concerned is strongly implied to be the [[TheHero ever-optimistic Ruby]].

** Qrow Branwen and Tyrian Callows, the right-hand men to Ozpin and Salem respectively. The first time they met, Qrow humiliated Tyrian by ruining his mission to capture Ruby, a fight that ended with [[spoiler: Qrow poisoned and on the brink of death, and Tyrian having his tail cut off, and crawling back to Salem in defeat]]. The second time was even ''worse'' as [[spoiler: Tyrian manipulated Qrow into fighting his own friend Clover - the first real friend Qrow has had since Team STRQ disbanded - before murdering Clover with Qrow's own sword]]. Suffice it to say, the pair well and truly ''hate'' each other.

* From Blog/{{Froghand}}:

** Ruby Rose, Jaune Arc, and Winter Schee all share an archenemy in [[TheDragon Cinder Fall]]. All three heroes [[ItsPersonalWithTheDragon have it out for her for personal reasons]]. In Ruby's case, Cinder destroyed her school, killed many of the students and teachers, among them including her friends Pyrrha Nikos and Penny Polendina, whom the former she witnessed in front of her own eyes. In Jaune's case being him wanting revenge on Cinder for killing Pyrrha ([[spoiler:his LoveInterest]]) and nearly killing Weiss and himself at Haven Acaedmy. And in Winter's case, [[spoiler:Cinder (along with Salem) slowly let General Ironwood to villainy, and attack the central location during Ruby's Group's evacuation from Atlas and Mantle to Vacuo, and caused few of people to fall, including her sister Weiss, seemingly to their deaths. Cinder also has it out for all three of them because they have all costed her victories and in Winter's case, the power of the Winter Maiden.]]

** A more two-sided rivalry he has is with [[TheAce EvilAJ2010]], who started the "This is How You DON'T Play" montages of Phil's failures. Evil AJ even made his own "Big Boss Run" playthroughs on the channel to further highlight just how bad Phil is at the MGS games. Phil seems to seriously hate Evil AJ to the point that he infamously called him "mentally ill" for making the original TIHYDPs. Since then, while Phil singing the “KWO theme” over and over again during his Metal Gear Solid 1 playthrough is still considered one of his most annoying moments, [[HoistByHisOwnPetard the “KWO” group ultimately imploded]] [[SelfDisposingVillain without any input from Phil at all really]].

** Adam is this to Blake and Yang over the course of the series. He tells Blake during the battle of Beacon that he plans on making her suffer for betraying him by abandoning the White Fang. He insists that he will destroy everything she loves; when Yang tries to rescue Blake moments later, Adam keeps his promise by defeating Yang with a single swing of his sword, amputating her right arm in the process. [[spoiler:By the time of their final confrontation in Volume 6, Adam tells Blake that none of the pain and scarring he's experienced in his life hurt him as much as she did because she left him. When he realises she wants him to let go of the past, he vows to never let her get away from him again. He considers Yang unfinished business and is happy to fight her when she intervenes before he can kill Blake. Seeing her shaking from the PTSD flashbacks she has to the night he cut off her arm, he accuses Yang of cowardice and demands to know what Blake even sees in her. In the end, the final fight rests on the fact that he's alienated and alone while his attempts to isolate the pair from each other only succeed in making them stronger through unity, mutual trust and team-work.]]

* PlayedForLaughs on ''WebVideo/GameGrumps'' thanks to their playthrough of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime'' where Arin infamously had tons of trouble facing the Shell Blades of the Water Temple and his anguished, desperate cries of "THIS STUPID ''FUCKING '''CLAM!!!'''''" more or less became a meme. Much later down the road when they are playing ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess'' and they encounter ''that'' game's version of Shell Blades, Dan wasted no time mocking Arin for it:

Neil Sinclair (who was not the winner, but definitely the hero) of V3 had Danya himself.

In the next episode, he's taken Susan Ann Sulley and turned her into a "Numanoid" in order to defeat the Human League and steal their fan base from under their noses.
* Nightmares the Clown is the archenemy of Frank and Sadie Doyle in ''Podcast/TheThrillingAdventureHour''. A MonsterClown that thrives off fear. He was Frank's childhood boogeyman and Frank remained afraid of him even in adulthood until Nightmares came face to face with Sadie's utter inability to take even Monster Clowns seriously. Nightmares would go on to threaten them numerous times and each time failing before Frank and Sadie until, upon his defeat in the final "Beyond Belief" segment, he realizes that [[spoiler:''he'' fears Frank and Sadie]].
