* IJustWantToBeNormal: Elena's brother Touma goes through a bit of angst after he hears his friend calling his family "weird" for dancing and singing in public. Elena herself used to think this way when she was younger, as shown through flashbacks, before she realized that everyone is unique in their own way. It is worth noting that Elena is the first mixed-race cure, so there is some subtext here.

* GenreThrowback: The season is intentionally an homage to the '80s SpaceOpera, and while it sticks with many of the modern ''Pretty Cure'' conventions, there are several reminders that the series is meant to represent the '80s. For example, computers and cell phones are rarely seen (other than the occasional background character), with much of the alien technology being a retro-futurist sort; the group at one point watches a movie on cassette tape, which Prunce notes is "very analog". Compared to, say, [[Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure Mepple and Mipple]] being kept in cell phone-like devices, Hikaru keeps Fuwa in a notebook. Even the series' music largely uses a retro synth sound, while the ending themes cross into {{synthwave}} territory. [[spoiler:It also makes the ending timeskip more understandable, as it's not TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture, but rather the present day.]]

* RealityEnsues: Lala is BookDumb to the point of being amazed by Earthlings being able to do ''double digit calculations'' and various jobs by themselves despite also being TheSpock of the group. Having your entire race have over reliance on AI to do everything doesn't really give any incentive to study and learn things themselves.

** Episode 28: Elena and Madoka are chanting to keep Flare-san's fire going but get tired later after. Chanting a mantra will not keep you from being tired, especially if you're handling a giant pump.
** #30: Aiwarn [[ExploitedTrope exploits]] the concept of the TerminallyDependentSociety that is Saman by corrupting their Mother AI and causing it to go crazy, and it works. With the exception of Lala (who's spent time on a planet that isn't as high-tech), Samanians rely on hoverboards too much to a point they cannot run.
** #31: Toppa clains that a trip from Earth to Starscape would take ten years with their warp drives. FasterThanLightTravel is shown not to be immune to this trope, and it's lucky that Fuwa's warp powers help cut down the trip to mere seconds.
** #32: Cure Cosmo tells Garuoga "[[FreudianExcuseIsNoExcuse Just because you couldn't protect your planet, that doesn't excuse relying on Darknest's power and taking from others!]]" Cure Cosmo lost her own planet too to the Notraiders, and she suffered PTS the second after he revealed that he lost his own planet. Yeah, like she'd ever tolerate that being abused to gain an unfair advantage.
** #33: Fuwa tries to help Hikaru with homework. Yeah, she can't do that. She doesn't have fingers or thumbs unlike the Cures, so all she does is stomp pawprints on them.
** #34: When the Cures met an alien who can't speak, Elena is given the job to accompany him because, her mother being a translator, she is the one with the best experience with forelgn language, even more so than aliens Lala and Yuni.
*** The plant alien reacting horribly to the flower shop makes sense because [[SlaveryIsASpecialKindOfEvil there is a certain analogical concept generally depicted as evil in mainstream works]].
*** After Elena is saddened by Saboro's anger, her mother tells her that her own translation ability is not limitless despite an ability to do English and Spanish.
*** A flashback shows that Saboro [[PoorCommunicationKills being incapable of speaking]] has made him suffer FantasticRacism. Being without a mouth that can produce sound will make you bitter.
** #35: Hikaru claiming she'll take in aliens from other schools is something that will make you look like an alien, as a fellow alien will point out to her.
** #36: While Blue Cat is easily evasive solo, it is still possible for her to be slower if she has another person with her.
*** Even after Don Octo gave Blue Cat the ring after that sob story she gave him, Mary Ann is still not convinced Blue Cat is not evil and still chases after her. The only reason the Cures get off her tail is because Mary Ann's ship goes too fast and crashes on the moon.
** #38:
*** A brief one in which the blind fortuneteller is facing the wrong way during his introduction.
*** When the Cures ask if Ayewan, whose heart supposedly became fuzzy from the battle, should come to Earth, she tells them off and leaves. You don't become willing to go to the good side just because your heart was touched so deeply.

** #33: Fuwa tries to help Hikaru with homework. Yeah, she can't do that. She doesn't have fingers or thumbs unlike the Cures, so all she does is stomp pawprints on them.

When the Cures met an alien who can't speak, Elena is given the job to accompany him them because, her mother being a translator, she is the one with the best experience with forelgn foreign language, even more so than aliens Lala and Yuni.

Pendants.
* TranslatorMicrobes: The Star Color Pendants act as universal translators, thus allowing the Cures to comprehend any alien language (and Lala to understand Japanese). At first, people without Pendants are unable to understand Lala, but Fuwa's magic soon allows for this, too. The villains, meanwhile, wear collars that allow them to pick up other languages.
