** They were originally conquered and incorporated into the empire of King Cold, who subsequently transferred authority over them to his son Frieza when Vegeta and Goku were still infants in their nursery capsules.
** Frieza was only in control of them for around five years before he decided to blow the planet.
** Paragus refers to Prince Vegeta as "the Fourth", which suggests that the Saiyans only conquered Planet Plant around 100 years ago, give or take[[note]]In human terms a generation is about 25 years, but Saiyan generations are likely longer because they stay in their peak longer and place their children in birthing pods[[/note]].
** Bardock remarks that the Saiyans were [[PlanetLooters conquering and selling planets]] even before King Cold came along.
** It's established that there are both combatant and non-combatant Saiyans, with dedicated scientists, pilots, nurses and caretakers.
** Saiyan males are mentioned by Gine, Goku's mother, as not normally taking much of an interest in their offspring, which suggests that the females are responsible for most of the childcare, even beyond the extensive time they spend in the nursery pods.
