* DarkerAndEdgier: While [[Anime/TheCursedHolySword the previous film]] was much darker than its predecessors, this film has some of the darkest and frightening images and soundtracks associated with the franchise. It may not seem like it at first but once it gets to the second half of the movie, it becomes a full on horror movie.

* DerangedAnimation: This movie's animation style is very different from the typical ''One Piece'' film (a notable example happens early: when Muchigoro [[WildTake yells at Usopp for lying]], a mini version of Muchigoro appears inside his mouth on the uvula, which is strange even by this series' standards). It can take some getting used to, but it helps that it's similar to Mamoru Hosoda's [[Anime/DigimonTheMovie other]] [[Anime/SummerWars works]].

* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:Luffy suffers one after his first battle with Omatsuri and failing to save his crew from being absorbed into Lily. Amusingly, this was a while before the Sabaody Archipelago Arc in the manga, where a similar event happened. Foreshadowing, perhaps?]]

* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler:Luffy kills Baron for (nearly) feeding his friends to Lily. This trope also applies when you remember that Baron had been sowing discord among pirate crews and then feeding them to Lily once they no longer trust each other.]]

* MegatonPunch: [[spoiler:How Luffy finishes off the Baron, decking him so hard the color leaves the screen for a moment upon impact. This is the only time in all of ''One Piece'' where Luffy outright ''kills'' the antagonist.]]

* BeardOfEvil[=/=]BeardOfSorrow: Baron has a sizable beard and is the villain in this movie, [[spoiler:yet he didn't start growing one until after his pirate crew died during a storm]].

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: [[spoiler:After helping Luffy defeat Baron, the Teacup Pirates are never seen or mentioned again.]]

''Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island'' is the sixth ''Franchise/OnePiece'' film in the long-running franchise, and notably the darkest of the films so far. The film was directed by Creator/MamoruHosoda, with the screenplay by Masahiro Ito. It was released on March 5, 2005.

* BrokenPedestal: Rosa, the eldest daughter of the Tearoom pirates, lost all respect for Papa when he was revealed to be a coward. Later, Rick and Daisy also lose their respect when Papa [[spoiler:forces them to leave Chopper to be devoured by Lily. It's restored when Papa kills Lily himself with a single arrow near the end]].

* DarkerAndEdgier: While [[Anime/TheCursedHolySword the previous film]] was much darker than its predecessors, this film went UpToEleven in its edginess, resulting in some of the darkest and frightening images and soundtracks associated with the franchise.

* NiceHat: DJ Gappa thinks Usopp's hat is this, and wants to wear it himself.

* AdultFear: Seems to be prominent with various characters throughout the movie. Baron's situation is [[spoiler: losing your friends/family/loved ones to unfortunate and unexpected circumstances, along with the possibility of going mad from grief]]. Luffy and Brief's situation is [[spoiler: watching your friends/family/loved ones die at the hands of a stranger who they barely met and being absolutely powerless to stop it, while also in Luffy's case seeing those you trust suddenly turn on each other for no reason]]. Lastly, the Tearoom Pirates were left stranded on an island in the middle of the ocean with no way out, while [[spoiler: their children are nearly devoured by some evil, demonic-looking plant creature]].

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Green in DJ Kappa's case.

* BigBad: Baron Omatsuri is the main antagonist of the film.

* IdiotHero: As per usual, Luffy is this; at one point, he tries to save Chopper from drowning during the Goldfish Scooping game, only to realize he can't swim either due to being a Devil Fruit user. Sanji ends up saving both of them. [[spoiler: In essence, the film is a bit of a deconstruction of this as well, as Luffy's hasty actions and inability to recognize all of the suspicious red flags on the island allows Omatsuri go on working his plan and nearly costs him his friends lives. Only when he and Brief actually make a plan, and understand the severity of the situation, does Luffy make headway and land his first successful blow.]]

* OneWingedAngel: [[spoiler:Lily for most of the movie appears as a fairly cute, yet slightly creepy flower-like plant that is resting on Baron's shoulder. Then near the end. all of that is thrown out the window after she turns into a demonic beanstalk that is full of the people she's recently devoured.]]

** BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler: Through the Baron nearly wins, Luffy beats him, frees his crew, and has his appreciation for them renewed in a big way. However his friends don't seem to remember anything from this adventure, and Luffy doesn't seem concerned with sharing what happened, meaning they went through the ordeal for nothing in the end.]]

* InnocentBystanders: The Tearoom Pirates, a family consisting of a father, two daughters and a son who just wanted to come to the island to have fun. But wound up stranded there when they couldn't complete the Tests. [[spoiler: The Baron has Lily try to eat them as a leftover after absorbing the other Straw Hats (save Luffy) but Chopper manages to rescue them at the cost of his own safety. They return the favor though by ultimately killing Lily, breaking the spell she has over the island and freeing the crew before they're devoured.]]

* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler:Luffy kills Baron for (nearly)feeding his friends to Lily. This trope also applies when you remember that Baron had been sowing discord among pirate crews and then feeding them to Lily once they no longer trust each other.]]

* ConspicuousCG: A lot of it in this film especially the Goldfish Scooping game. One of the complaints against it that it didn't seem to mesh well with the 2-D animation.
