** Speaking of which Willaim himself gets this to a lesser degree, as in Claire's scenario despite being a violent monster he protects his daughter Sherry from both Mr X and Chief Irons. Then again considering G-Birkin wants to Squick implant embryos in Sherry, this is probably not fatherly protection.

** Yuffie in the Intergrade DLC is a Wutai special agent who infiltrates Midgar to steal Materia from Shinra and helps save the day defeating DarkChick Scarlet and is tearful at massacre of Sector 7. This is a complete 180 from the original FFVII’s Yuffie who was a bratty thief who stole from the heroes purely for her own personal gain and was inadvertently roped into saving the world from Sephiroth by Cloud and company but humorously still tries to stealing Materia whenever she can. Yuffie is also generally more friendly and compassionate in the remake continuity, while Yuffie’s nicer moments in the original game are comparatively infrequent.

** Cloud’s OnlyInItForTheMoney mercenary attitude is greatly softened in the remake. He’s much quicker to show compassion and care to his TrueCompanions than he was in the original game, where it took him awhile and some HeroicBSOD to reach that point. Cloud also cares greatly for his LoveInterest Tifa and ThePromise he made her regardless of the player’s actions, unlike the original game where thanks to FalseMemories Tifa has to remind him of their childhood promise. That being said Cloud does conversely get some AdaptationalJerkass as seen when he wants to kill Johnny for ratting out Jessie and when he attempts finish off Reno, which respectively shocks both Tifa and Aerith.

* The various demons change morality from instalment to instalment of Franchise/ShinMegamiTensei to suit the story but one that consistently gets this trope is Ishtar. In real-life Myth/MesopotamianMythology she was an exceedingly unpleasant deity even in comparison to Old Testament YHVH who frequently killed people, sent natural disasters to them, or turned them into animals for fun. At one point in Literature/TheEpicOfGilgamesh she threatens to raise the dead and have them eat the living, in the earliest known reference to a ZombieApocalypse in human history. Her only totally altruistic quality was her love for her husband Tammuz (despite frequently cheating on him), whom she saved from Nergal every year to bring spring to the world. In SMT she's a helpful, nurturing mother goddess who is frequently abused by YHVH essentially just for being from a competing pantheon, and often ends up being forcibly turned into the demon Astaroth by Him.

* Tseng the leader of the Turks gets this in the VideoGame/FinalFantasyVIIRemake. In the original game Tseng while still AffablyEvil was still a ruthless agent of Shrina, as seen when he takes Aerith hostage and when she pleads to him Tseng violently slaps her. In the remake he just orders a mook to take her without hurting in the slightest. This lines up with Tseng’s VideoGame/CrisisCore portrayal where he acts as a paternal figure to Aerith who genuinely cares about her while under orders to study and keep watch on her.

** Cloud’s OnlyInItForTheMoney mercenary attitude is greatly softened in the remake. He’s much quicker to show compassion and care to his TrueCompanions than he was in the original game, where it took him awhile awhile and some HeroicBSOD to reach that point. Cloud also cares greatly for his LoveInterest Tifa and ThePromise he made her regardless of the player’s actions, unlike the original game where thanks to FalseMemories Tifa has to remind him of their childhood promise.

In the remake Brad not only warns his S.T.A.R.S teammate Jill about Nemesis’s attack before it happens but actually sacrifices himself blocking a door from the zombie horde allowing Jill to escape.
** Patrick Tyrell. In the original game Patrick was little more than a flunkey of Umbrella same as most of U.B.C.S who in a fit paranoia holds Carlos at gunpoint before getting killed by a bomb in a safe. In the remake Patrick is much more heroic being a supportive teammate of Carlos who actively helps Jill survive and find a vaccine, making his death at the CombatTentacles of Nemesis tragic.

"Flying Warriors" is little more than a localised sequel of "Flying Dragon": the plot is the same in japanese and overseas versions.

* In Flying Dragon: The Secret Scroll, Go Hayato is the WarmUpBoss you face in the first round of the first fighting tournament. In the Franchise/SuperSentai-like spinoff Flying Warriors, he's a party member.

** HUNK gets a bit of this as well, as in most Resident Evil media he's a cold and ruthless killing machine, in the remake HUNK is genuinely angry when his trigger happy squad shoot an unarmed William Birkin.
