* In ''FanFic/APrizeForThreeEmpires'', ComicBook/CarolDanvers and [[Franchise/XMen Gladiator]] start a relationship. In the canon Franchise/MarvelUniverse, they hardly know each other.

* ''Fanfic/AMothToAFlame'': Unlike canon, The Core includes some of Marcy's direct ancestors. [[ForWantOfANail It's because of this change]], sets up the whole plot of Andrias and The Core taking a route in wrapping Marcy around their fingers, by turning her into their [[TheDragon Dragon]] and bringing her in on their EvilPlan instead of merely an UnwittingPawn via 'Proposition'.

** Since Khan didn't see Sooha under the eclipse where a werewolf [[LoveAtFirstSight automatically falls in love with the first person he sees]] ([[ForWantOfANail as he was out in the forest with his brothers and Solon on the night of said eclipse]]), because of the former, he does not develop romantic feelings for her here, and as for the latter, the werewolves are barely even acquaintances with Sooha in this story.

** Alya herself [[ForWantOfANail found the Butterfly Brooch]] and became [[AdaptationalVillainy this reality's Hawkmoth]], working alongside Adrien.

* In ''Fanfic/PowderedGoldAndPottery'', All Might [[AlternateUniverse retired years before the main story begins]], after [[ForWantOfANail an incident that led to]] Endeavor passing him in the rankings. Since he's no longer an active hero, his relationship with Sir Nighteye is much more stable, with the two of them at much greater ease around each other than they are in canon.

** While Izuku and All Might are close in canon due to the latter choosing the former as his successor, here, All Might is much more involved in his development [[ForWantOfANail due to meeting him when Izuku was 12 instead of 15]]. Officially, Izuku works as All Might's intern.

* In canon, Nicol Ascart, though having feelings for Katarina Claes, is content with remaining as a good friend due to Katarina being engaged to his friend Geordo, with any progress coming from his [[ShipperOnDeck sister Sophia]]. In ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/23106133/chapters/55282336?view_adult=true Windy Trees and Sweet Songs]]'', [[ForWantOfANail because Katarina landed on her head and regained her memories a day earlier than canon, she does not end up engaged to Geordo]], and she and Nicol end up engaged after he sees her wanting to be friends with Sophia despite her albinism (which was also one of the reasons why Nicol fell in love with her in canon).

* In canon, ComicBook/SpiderMan is a professional acquaintance of the ComicBook/YoungAvengers at best; in "[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12933174/1/Spider-Man-The-Young-Avenger Spider-Man: The Young Avenger]]" (in a continuity mixing elements of the comics with the MCU), Peter Parker is not only a member of the team but has a long-standing friendship with Cassie Lang that leads to them forming a relationship when they both realise the other's secret identity.

* In ''Fanfic/AmazingFantasy'', Izuku is hospitalized from a spider bite the day the Sludge Villain attacked and never learns All Might's SecretIdentity or inherits One For All. Because of this, they never form the near familial relationship his One For All-wielding counterpart has. All Might's role as Izuku's mentor is instead supplanted by a universe-displaced [[Franchise/SpiderMan Peter Parker]].

** Izumi, Himiko, and Jin are adopted siblings in this universe, this having happened after Izumi found them in her second year of university. Having [[spoiler: joined a raid on human traffickers, she found Himiko and Jin amongst the victims and the three quickly became attached]].
** Izumi and Melissa meet well before I-Island's I-Expo that happens during 1-A's first year at UA, and [[spoiler:are in a romantic relationship before the start of the story, as revealed in chapter 13]].
** Due to Izumi and Melissa's closeness, Izumi has also taken to Mellisa's habit of referring to All Might as "Uncle Might", and has a similar relationship to him.
** Inko Midoriya and Snipe, although entirely unrelated in canon, have been altered in this story to be adopted siblings.
** Minoru Mineta and Tsuyu Asui are shown to be a lot closer than in canon, with Tsuyu responding to Minoru's typically perverted behavior with comments just as, if not moreso, perverted. This is a result of Tsuyu being a firm believer in [[BrutalHonesty brutal honesty]].

Homura is naturally ''flummoxed'' by this turn of events.
* Mami also ends up becoming Homura's student in ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/32084461/chapters/79482706 Homuzuchi]]'' when a hiccup in Homura's time powers sends her back several years to when Mami is first contracted as a Magical Girl. Homura is, again, naturally flummoxed at the shift but rolls with it.

* In "[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/1857017/1/The-New-Teacher The New Teacher]]", Peter Parker successfully applies for a teaching position at the Xavier Institute, and at first only Logan is aware that their new teacher is Spider-Man. Over time the rest of the staff and students become friendly with their new colleague, until Peter admits his real identity after helping stop the Brotherhood's latest attack on the Institute (although a few others learnt his secret beforehand, such as Kitty walking in on him changing out of his costume and Rogue recalling memories she absorbed from Spider-Man in a previous encounter). While Peter isn't an official member of the X-Men, he is far closer to the team than he has ever been in canon.

** [[spoiler:Thanks to never finding out that Lila is a liar, Marinette starts a friendship with the seemingly friendly transfer student. Likewise, Lila never targets Marinette as a threat and instead wants the other girl all to herself]].

* ''FanFic/LeaveForMendeleiev'' explores a world where [[WhatIf Marinette is transferred to Mendeleiev's class at the start of the school year]], before she becomes Miraculous Ladybug. As a result:

In the canon series, at the end of the first movie, The Rainbooms apparently forgive Sunset and promise Twilight Sparkle to be her friend and teach her friendship. The next film shows that The Rainbooms have kept their promise and invited Sunset into their friend group despite what Sunset has done in the past, albeit with some tension between them that isn't fully resolved until the end of the movie. In this series, The Rainbooms (except for Pinkie Pie) don't want to really want to forgive Sunset after years of bullying, with Applejack distrusting her and Fluttershy and Rarity fearing and resenting her, and Rainbow partaking in the school's retribution. Only when Sunset shows genuine remorse and pays them back for the times she hurts them that the Rainbooms give their forgiveness.

* '' [[https://archiveofourown.org/works/26775685/chapters/65317462 pleased to meet you (hope you guess my name)]]'', after Katarina regains her memories, she overhears a conversation between Nicol and Sophia's dad and some people from the Ministry of Magic discussing a commoner with light magic being discovered in a village to the south. Katarina arranges for herself and Anne to visit Maria under the justification Katarina could play outdoors and not interrupt anyone inside the house. This leads to Maria and Katarina becoming childhood friends (and Maria falling in love with Katarina) and the people of Maria's village treating her more nicely. At the academy, Maria becomes more confident (such as telling some bullies that they'd have to deal with Katarina which gets them to back off, [[spoiler: Geordo dissolves his engagement to Katarina having realized Maria won]] and [[spoiler: Katarina and Maria hook up together at the end after Katarina realizes she and Maria were in love.]]

** Due to multiple deconstructions of their dynamic, Solon's relationship with his brothers is ''much'' more strained here, less so with Jino and Noa but more so with Jaan, yet at the same time, they're more [[BigBrotherInstinct protective]] of him, especially when it comes to [[MySisterIsOffLimits potential romantic suitors]]. [[spoiler: However, they do eventually make up and have a better relationship than before, the vampires even getting rid of their werewolf prejudice for him]].

** On a less romantic note, Tien is shown to be much closer friends to the other Z-Warriors (except Vegeta), with him and Yamcha even admitting they’re VitriolicBestBuds in the finale of Season 3. In the source material, once he separates himself from Tsurusennin/Master Shen, he sees himself solely as Goku's FriendlyRival, with everyone else being merely acquaintances he has no problem fighting alongside of as necessary.
** Speaking of Tien, his Shin Kikoho stunt against Semi Perfect Cell permenantly earns him the bio android's ire to the point where he's the only one that Cell actively despises as oppose to an amusing toy or a challenge to overcome. It's even shown in ''WebAnimation/{{HFIL}}'' that Cell considers never getting the chance to choke Tien to death to be his greatest regret.

* ''[[Fanfic/OneDayAtATimeFanfic One Day at a Time]]'':

* ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/30411063/chapters/74976912 Deadshots]]'': Mai fakes Zuko's death (and soon after, her own suicide) following the disastrous Agni Kai. This changes quite a few relationships.
