I was wondering if the 2001 remake of Planete of Apes would be a better candidate for Tim Burton than Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It has lower score on Imdb, Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes.

Agreed. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has a mixed reception at worst and I’ve never heard of it being referred to as Burton’s worst movie. Whereas Planet of the Apes has been criticized as not looking or feeling like a Tim Burton movie — even by professional film critics, was Executive-Driven to the point where Burton is even rumoured to have walked off the set during production and is generally considered inferior to both the original movie and the newer movies.

There’s also several inaccuracies with the current example on the page:

It states that Willy Wonka is considered Johnny Depp’s worst acting performance, when both of his performances as Mortdecai (an unfunny rip-off of Inspector Clouseau) and Tonto (a highly stereotypical crazy Native American being portrayed by a white person) have received much more criticism.

As well as stating that Alice in Wonderland avoided backlash by being a re-imagining rather than a straight adaptation, when the movie did in fact receive plenty of backlash at the time of its release by both fans of the books, fans of the previous Disney adaptation and professional movie critics and continues to receive backlash due to a sequel coming out soon (in fact is was a forum thread – highly critical of the movie – on an Alice fansite that lead to me first discovering This Very Wiki).

I assume that the writeup predates Mortdecai and The Lone Ranger, as those are more recent.

The write-up for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was added on the 14th of November, Mortdecai came out in January and The Lone Ranger was released over 2 years ago.

I'm a bit late but I concur with Anddrix. Althought the write-up is not completely inaccurate (indeed Willy Wonka is usually seen as superior to Charlie), Planete of Apes is

On Rotten Tomatoes (not that I believe that Reviews Are the Gospel but it's a good way to see the overal reception)

Mars Attack: critics: 52% audience: 53%

Planet of the Apes: critics: 45% audience: 27%

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: critics: 83% audience: 51 %

Alice in Wonderland: critics: 52% audience: 55%

Dark Shadows: critics: 37% audience: 46%
