Why the hell does the image keep switching on pages like this and others?

Are people trying to prove that some articles need wikipedia levels of reinforcing?

I don't think Thoth belongs on this page. My understanding is that he persuades the Eye of Re to stop slaughtering humanity, without fighting her. Also, he failed. She continued until Re got her drunk.

Removing Thoth, and also Scharahazd. They are impressive in other ways, but physical butt-kicking isn't on their list.

  • Scheharazade in Arabian Nights, in a non-violent way. When her people are threatened she Jumped at the Call. She is beautiful, intelligent, skilled at storytelling, and has Nerves of Steel. Why do Mad Sultans get all the luck. Wah!
  • From Egyptian Mythology we have Thoth. Thoth was the scribe of the gods who was involved in development the arts of magic, the system of writing, and science, as well as the judgment of the dead. He was also one of the forces who actively maintained the order of the universe and served as the mediator of the gods and resolver of godly disputes, at times forcefully. In some accounts he was the one Ra sent to stop a rampaging Hathor/Sekhmet from wiping out humanity.

I'm new to the site but this trope has - by far - the most examples cited. Could that be because all of us internet nerds secretly (or not so secretly) wish that this is who we were? Mild mannered Clark Kent who is also a complete badass? Just an observation. :D

This page serious doesn't have the most examples cited, trust us on this.

Weak people wish they were stronger. This is hardly a psychological phenomenon. What's your point?

I know I have a character who definitely fits this trope, but I think there's another trope she fits too. You see, she's actually the most reluctant to fight, but is also the most capable fighter of the main protagonists (who include a Chaotic Good Boistrous Bruiser and a rather eager Knife Nut). I wonder what that would make her, since she'd be downright scary if she were an actual Blood Knight.

  • If a 14-year-old you know built a windmill that generated electricity, you'd call him a clever bookworm. But what do you call it when said 14-year-old lives in a third-world African hellhole of a village, has survived a famine and a cholera outbreak that killed thousands, and yet still manages to build said fully-functional windmill, in a shed, with a box of scraps, and manages to introduce the first steady power supply in that part of Africa?? Tony Stark, move the fuck over and make room for the new reigning Badass Bookworm, William Kamkwamba of Malawi.

This kid might be admirable, but I don't see what makes him Bad Ass.

Yeah, a bad ass is typically more showy, based on what they do - the original T Vtropes bad ass was the one popularized from 80s action movies (that's pretty specific). A person's toughness isn't directly quantifiable.

Removing Zoey.

http://left4dead.wikia.com/wiki/Zoey

"After spending her first semester holed up in a dorm room watching old horror movies, Zoey was given a choice: Stop fooling around and get her grades up, or drop out. Now that the planet's overrun with murderous zombies, and all of her professors are dead, Zoey at least has the cold comfort that she's been studying up on the right subject after all."

That doesn't fit the trope description at all.

Maybe she was studying combat?
