resolved Wikiword issue
The page for Like a Dragon fanworks is written as Fanworks.Like A Dragon as opposed to FanWorks.Like A Dragon. Both links work, but using the FanWorks one sends you straight to the Fanworks page. What can I do to fix this?
Edited by LermisopenAn edit war over real-life politics
Currently, UsefulNotes.Criminals lists Vladimir Putin among its entries. I've deleted the entry, but Iridener, who added it in the first place, quickly brought it back.
Now, setting politics aside, this entry goes against the note before the example list, which warns that "this page is only meant to list notable real-life criminals [...] who are all most remembered in the public consciousness for the high-profile crimes they have committed". Given that Putin's page existed long before 2022, I believe that "most remembered" part is incorrect.
Additionally, the entry seems to violate Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment, as the arrest warrant, which Iridener uses to justify the addition of this entry, is related to the Ukraine war, analysis of which is effectively under a blanket ban.
resolved 13 is Unlucky Film
Hello. I have a good example of the trope "13 is Unlucky" in the movie "Roll Bounce". During the movie, Junior is pantsed inside of the roller rink revealing a pair of unusual underwear. If you look at the shirt that Junior is wearing, it has the number "13" on it. That "13" foreshadows that something unlucky is about to happen to him. Hence, the pantsing.

Edited by GastonRabbitresolved where would memes go on a page if there aren't enough memes? Videogame
i want to list some memes on the regretevator pages but im not exactly sure which page it would go on since it seems like there's not enough examples to be one whole page. can someone help?
openHow do I create a Recap page? Film
I'm fairly new to editing on TV Tropes, and wanted to create a Recap page for articles such as Train To Busan and Batman: Arkham Origins, but I don't really know how to create a Recap page or what the proper structure should be. I would appreciate it if anyone could get back to me.
openHow do I upload a new image onto a character page? Videogame
I have a JPG image of Eddy Gordo from Tekken 8 I wanted to put for his character file under Tekken 3. But this is the first time doing something like this so I'm kinda lost. Am I supposed to upload the image onto a specific page of TV tropes and then use the URL for that to upload it onto the aforementioned file?
open13 Is Unlucky/Roll Bounce Film
I posted a trope on the "13 Is Unlucky" page concerning the movie "Roll Bounce". But I was not able to tag the film title name. How do I tag the film title so that people would be able to click on the title "Roll Bounce" and go directly to the "Roll Bounce" tv trope page?
Edited by Tyvanicusresolved Asking about video operations
It's the first time I attempt to do something with video examples, so where/how do I:
- Report a trope's video example as misuse?
- Suggest a secondary trope for a video example?
openEdit War?
So, on YMMV.Mean Girls 2024 the following happened:
- Young Artist 79 added Narm entries.
- Octoya removed them do to being misuse.
- Young Artist 79 re-added them without discussing it anywhere.
I already removed them again due to being jokes where the trope is for stuff that accidentally becomes funny. That said is Young Artist 79 edit warring?
openPotentially non-existent works and a user with two accounts.
kiaesi was an editor only for a day and worked on one page, creating Literature.Noblesse Oblige in 2018.
The other editor to the page, who started editing that same day is inaceso, who also much more recently started editing again in January to make WebOriginal.Fatherless Behaviour.
Even if they are the same user, that's not a problem in of itself. But I can't find any indication that either of these works actually exist (in addition to the latter page being a complete stub). There's a post on its discussion page.
I've P Med the second account about the stub-ness but I'm not sure what to do about the fact I can't find any trace of either work they made pages for.
resolved Possible edit war?
On the Fan Works page for Adaptational Karma, Orwell deleted an entry regarding the fanfic "Sorry's Not Enough" without reason. Putotyra No Zarus re-added it, only for Orwell to then redelete it, again without reason. From what I can see, it is a perfectly valid entry given it details how Sasuke was punished more for his crimes in the story than he was in the source material.
I re-added it then hid it once I realized I was the original editor a few years back
Edited by TheSinfulopenJak at it again with Star Wars comparisions Anime
A long while back I put this on the Anime and Manga P to S page for Better Than It Sounds
- Ringing Bell: Sheep Bambi pulls a Face–Heel Turn as an attempt at revenge.
Recently, jak2130472, who I have talked about here before, changed it to:
- Ringing Bell: Sheep Anakin pulls a Face–Heel Turn as an attempt at revenge.
I dunno much about Anakin Skywalker's backstory, but I think Bambi is a better fit because it's an adorable animal whose mom got killed. Is it safe for me to bring this up mainly because it's getting annoying?
Edited by RedBerryBlueCherryopenAdding Broken Base to YMMV Sonic Prime Page? Western Animation
So, since Sonic Prime had just wrapped up, is it time to make a Broken Base section for the YMMV page? Some of the suggestions for the Broken Base section are:
1) The characterization of Sonic himself has caused a split in the fanbase. Some fans find Sonic being characterized as being too immature found it to be completely alienated from his more laid back yet sensible portrayal in the games. Other fans however, think that having Sonic have more flaws in this version makes him more interesting as a character.
2) The canon of this series has also been divided in the fandom as some fans questioned about when this series exactly took place in the game canon and why does Sonic act way more differently in this series in comparison to how he was portrayed in Sonic Frontiers?
Edited by RabbitearsblogopenAre friends/family of a creator allowed to add to YMMV?
I've been considering making a page on here sometime for a series that my friend is writing. However, I'd like to ask if people who know the author of a work — such as their friends or family — are allowed to do anything with YMMV.
I know that creators themselves can't do anything with YMMV regarding their own works, for the reason already mentioned in Auto-Erotic Troping: "Creators are not objective about their own work." I feel like to some extent, people are also rather biased about works that their friends/family create, so I think there's the possibility that people who know the author also may not be allowed to edit YMMV for their works.
Further complicating things, I have made some contributions to the work as well: the prototype designs of some of the side characters, as well as the posters for each episode (several of her other friends have made similar contributions). I think that means I'm at least not allowed to add YMMV related to anything I've personally contributed, which is understandable.
I'm mainly asking because I was initially considering adding a few Audience Reactions (such as Moments pages), which would be based on my experiences as a reader — however, I realize that I might not be allowed to do this for the reasons I mentioned, so I'd like to check to make sure first. If I'm not allowed to do that, I understand. For now, I've been focusing on just the objective tropes about the work.
(In addition, I'm planning on showing my friend the rough draft of the TV Tropes page for her series soon, and I'll be letting her know about policies like The Fic May Be Yours, but the Trope Page Is Ours and the aforementioned Auto-Erotic Troping when I do so. I'm unsure if she has an account here or is considering getting one, but it's still something I'll bring up.)
Edited by punkcrowopenSpoilers regarding characters on Creator pages
On Rika Fukami's page, a character was fully spoilered out like this:
I already sent the troper who did this a sinkhole notifier, but when I realized that it was also spoilered out, I'm somewhat more conflicted because I've seen a characters true name being spoilered out in actor pages and the Handling Spoilers doesn't make mention of this type of spoiler. So, in order to avoid accidentally breaking any rules, I want full clarification.
YMMV.F Zero GX got an edit that removed Contested Sequel and added Even Better Sequel with a comment: "This is, at least from my experience, untrue. The vast majority of F-Zero fans consider GX to be the best game in the series. A lot of these criticisms feel overrepresented."
I've gathered and laid down other people's various opinions on "F-Zero X vs F-Zero GX" from past 5 years on internet, both professionals and fans. Complaints over F-Zero GX are something that consistently exists, so I must say this change does not reflect the general fan reaction. What to do with this?
