Uh, I'd hold on that if you haven't already began. See Harvest Moon and Story of Seasons are two different series now thanks to a messy tangling of rights between Marvelous Entertainment and Natsume. The previous Harvest Moon series was renamed to Story of Seasons while a new Harvest Moon series was created. I'll explain below.

Originally Natsume published Marvelous's series in the west under the English name of Harvest Moon. But when Marvelous decided to have XSEED handle the series in the west, Marvelous couldn't keep the Harvest Moon name due to Natsume having all western rights to the name. Marvelous renamed their series in the west as Story of Seasons.

Natsume had the name of Harvest Moon, but since they had no properties to make use of the name, they developed their own farming simulator/RPG under the name Harvest Moon. Messy situation, huh?

That's exactly why I held off on doing that, because of the messy situation regarding the "rename." However, it's indisputable that Story of Seasons is the current official English name for Bokujou Monogatari (sp? On mobile, too lazy to check) and so we should be using it by the letter of the rule. It's the spirit of the rule that's the problem, and as I have said in the past, we don't want to be making moves nobody actually wants to make.

Because of that very mess, the 2014 game should probably be year-disambiguated no matter what the series page is called.

We technically don't have an Administrivia page to cover what the English name policy is and isn't, and considering how often it comes up on ATT, we might want to get one started.

Well the pages from the renamed Harvest Moon will need to be moved, but we will need to come up with a plan first. The previous Harvest Moon series page will need to be moved to become the Story of Seasons series page. Old Harvest Moon pages won't need renaming because they can just be indexed on the Story of Seasons series page.

After the moving/creating new pages dealing with old Harvest Moon and new Story of Seasons games, we will need to create a new series page for Natsume's new Harvest Moon series and index Natsume's new series there. We'll have to add a note on one or both series pages for those that didn't want a specific series but wanted the other series.

I'm not sure how much effort this will take (since I haven't looked at wicks), but if it doesn't seem like it would require much work, somebody can spawn a project thread on this in Short-Term projects on the forum for coordinating and getting feedback on ideas. If it looks like a lot of effort will be needed, one will have to ask the Trope Repair Shop for help.

I think a split would be better than a complete move, with the Marvelous series getting the Story of Seasons page (the first installment to bear that name should be moved to Story of Seasons (2014)) and the Natsume series getting the Harvest Moon page. The latter page should have a disambiguation note regarding the fact that the Harvest Moon name used to be used for the Marvelous series, and maybe the fact that Natsume still has the publishing rights to games made before the 2014 installment, as seen with the various Virtual Console rereleases.

Honestly, it might be better to make Harvest Moon a disambig due to the inbounds (and the fact that anyone going to the page is probably looking for the old series) and put the new series at Harvest Moon (Natsume) or something like that.

The franchise is largely recognized as Harvest Moon, and most of the games that have been made are under the former banner and are still being published by Natsume. The Story of Seasons games are better treated as a subseries until they outnumber HM, as a matter of usability.

As much as I want to use that as an excuse not to move it, that's not our policy. Even The Other Wiki, which sometimes holds onto old titles far too long, switched over two years ago.

In a couple days, barring moderator intervention, I'll go ahead with the first move (VideoGame.Story Of Seasons to ...2014), as that's entirely non-controversial.

^^ The Franchise/ namespace shouldn't be used here. That's only supposed to be used if a franchise has at least one page in at least three namespaces, such as how Super Mario Bros. has things like video games, a movie, cartoons, etc.

Seems like a discussion for Trope Repair Shop, I think.
