Quick question: Is natter allowed on subjective pages? Or are they too much of a hellhole to even bother with?
Pick your battles. Some steps can be taken on certain subjective pages to limit the noise. For example: Fan Fic Recs and the new policy in So Bad Its Horrible about signing opinions and limiting the number per troper/work.
The war, though, is to defeat natter in the works and real tropes.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyRealLife.Cool Plane: I've been taking whacks at it with a machete from time to time, but it still reads like a natter-fest for some of the better-known aircraft.
I don't personally get that bothered by a little bit of point-counterpoint, but that's not the goal of TVT, and when you get into a dozen *** (and a few 4 star ones, even if there isn't a 4th nesting level in the displayed page) or so entries, it's definitely time to get out the whetstone to sharpen your blades before going all Jason Vorhees on an article, I think.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpWhy is the real life page five times longer than the actual trope? I can understand why the cool plane people didn't want that on their page, but that's horrible. Can we just chop the whole thing?
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickDefinitely agree on the natter chop; the article looks like Thread Mode. How do we hand this down without getting people up in arms? Just kill and call it a day? Do we need to recruit someone technically savvy enough about the aircraft in question to know what points are worth keeping?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It's a Real Life page. Trim it down to the name of the planes and a basic description. You want info on them, theres plenty of wikis and website who will gladly
Why not just remove natter as soon as you see it?
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.'Cause TRS is lazy. ZING!
Anyway, Eddie made it clear it's for ones that need huge-ass flamethrowers. I've only seen a few that had craploads of natter, but they were easy to remove because they revolve around one work.
Half-Life: Dual Nature, a crossover story of reasonably sized proportions.^^
Because some pages are so natterific that it would take an obnoxiously long time to clean them up so that the basic info is there, but the "justifications" for the original natterish entries is severely reduced (not really possible to eliminate it altogether, too many stupid people in the world ) so they don't just get reverted. Just chopping off the natter without any other action lends itself too much to setting up edit wars, particularly on especially popular entries.

All your safe space are belong to TrumpI do not know if Tier Induced Scrappy counts, but I certainly think there is some natter there. I am not sure how to deal with it because I not necessarily an expert on the subject matter, sorry. It might deserve less scrutiny since it is subjective trope though.
I took out some of the natter, but I would definitely appreciate it if someone else took a look at the examples too.

Though I think it's too much for me anyway.

Torment liveblog is still hiatusing. You can vandalize my contributor page if you want something to do.Of course it is. Everyone loves math and I will hear no arguments about it being the most wonderful course ever.
Fight smart, not fair.Made of Iron the Anime and Manga and Video Games sections. I don't know the content well enough.
Now, we confirmed that Made of Iron is compared to RL right? And Nigh-Invulnerable is in universe right?
Fight smart, not fair. This one has come up before, and requires probably half the forum to fix, but Crack is Cheaper.
Problem being, half the content is in the natter - while there's a ridiculous amount of Conversation In The Main Page, simply chainsawing it probably would remove useful content.
Would you kill your best friend, can you save yourself?I suppose the only way to really clean it up is to consolidate the basic information for each entry, likely leaving out specific examples.
There is what appears to be some Natter in True Art Is Offensive, in the part of that article dealing with Chris Ofili's painting. I wasn't quite sure how to clean it up, so I thought I'd mention it here.
^ Just took a chainsaw to most of it, it wasn't contributing much.
Remember how all the Harry Potter stuff got moved off Ron the Death Eater? They moved it back.
Russell... likes to hurt people... for PEACE.Found the edit that re-added it, cut it and replaced it with a note about Harry Potter at the top of the literature section.
I went ahead and nuked * the natter relating to dividing by 0 on Just Bugs Me.Math. Rest of the page isn't great, but whatever.

Pretty sure there's still work to do there though, if anyone's up to the task? It's a pretty frequent target for Conversation In The Main Page (which explains my harsh edit reason - I desperately hope I wasn't rude enough with it to risk a banning, if so I apologise wholeheartedly now. That page is targetted every day however.

Would you kill your best friend, can you save yourself?I would help but we haven't beat the game yet, so I'd be unable to help with anything spoilered. I'll see if I can't convince my SO to finish it so I can help.
BTW, I'm a chick.
