Were there any tropes that downright annoyed you, or you're just getting sick of.

I didn't know where to truly put this I thought it would go of Trope Talk because it was mostly about specific tropes there.

Yep, I'm still here.

This topic won't go anywhere good.

INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.

So that we get it clear, nothing under Bad Writing counts, neither do Double Standard tropes.

Was that too much?

Stalker with a Crush and Stalking is Love, both when they're played straight or attempted to be deconstructed or subverted.

Oh? I think Purple Prose can be really good if done well - which it rarely is.

Oh, All Guys Want Cheerleaders. Fuck that.

I thought the point of Purple Prose is that it isn't done well.

I can like lengthy description, but not prattling on about nothing.

(prepares for Internet Backdraft)

Memetic Mutation, most of the time.

I also bear a grudge against The Chosen One and The Messiah, which very easily can turn into Mary Sue and Spotlight-Stealing Squad.

Too many to list. Rubber-Forehead Aliens and All Psychology Is Freudian are two major ones, though.

Some come up in consistently bad manners, though.

It's generally accepted that a trope that we dislike is generally invoked in an irritating fashion and occasionally they can be used in a more inoffensive manner.

But that's not the trope's fault, it's the author's fault for mishandling the trope.

Well, no, nothing can be an inanimate concept's fault.

But if that exists done well (I doubt it does), I've never seen it.

Okay, how about we pretend the topic is called "Tropes that aren't usually used well", happy now?

No, tropes we dislike is perfect. The fact that a trope isn't inherently good or bad doesn't mean you are obliged to be neutral in your personal appreciation.
