In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.
Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

So, tomorrow I'm going to be moving into my dorm at college. Although we only live about half an hour away, and I can easily come back and get anything I'm missing, I'm still worried that I don't have everything that I need. In fact, there are a lot of things I'm still unsure and worried about.
But I am pretty excited. This is my sophomore year, and since I was feeling pretty burned out at the end of freshman year, maybe the start of a new year will give me more energy.
I haven't played the particular game that Tango is from, but still... robo kitty. :DSpoiler alert: She's okay.
My daughter was with her dad, they were riding their bikes. She got in an accident with a car! A car pulled out in front of her, she didn't have time to stop, so she hit the driver's side fender. She has a bruised knee.
My ex-husband is not great at getting his point across. So I had time to run through every worst-case scenario possible by the time he got to the part where he said she's okay.
Now I'm counting down until I can leave work (1 hour and 56 minutes!) and go see her. I want to give her ALL the hugs.
Tomorrow is my birthday, bitches.
Just made a server on discord.Come join me.Happy birthday eve!
Somehow, throughout the summer, my weight has been fluctuating a little (though it has been staying between 170-180 pounds), but in the past few days, it's been dropping quickly. When I checked my weight earlier today, it said I'm 169 pounds. That's the first time in a while that I've been below 170, even if only by one pound.

I'm leaving for Tennessee tomorrow morning. We rented a cabin for the week to be in the line of the eclipse. It's near a lot of good hiking trails, in a quiet area, and we'll have our own washer and dryer! (I'm gonna do laundry every night!!) So excited!

squeeee! Having done both the laundromat thing, and the in-unit washer and dryer thing, I understand the Mundane Luxury of having one's own laundry machines. It is the BEST.
Whenever I hear about having to use a laundromat, I always get so confused by it because there are no laundromats here.
Nice, mine too, and NOPE. As for the birthday thing, are we talking approximately three weeks, or exactly three weeks? Mine is in exactly three weeks, on September 9th.
It's around 3pm EST and I'm already drunk with nothing else to do, this girl I've been talking to who I deadass like probably isn't going to work out and I kinda don't want it to work out at this point because I sense that she's the type who would put her dreams on hold if she fell for me and I don't want that for her, I'm scared shitless that I lost out on a potential job offer because I didn't find the voicemail until a day and a half later, the dogs across the street won't stop barking because my white trash neighbors leave them outside all day, and Amazon has had Layrite Super Hold on backorder all week and the restock date keeps getting pushed back, so I had to settle for the Suavecito equivalent. Sad reacts only.

Today is Cyber's birthday, correct? Happy birthday, Cyber!
As for me, I moved into my new dorm today! It was a long and somewhat crazy day, but now it's night and I can finally settle down.
I have mixed feelings about my new dorm. This is my second year of college, and in my first year, the dorm where I stayed was like it was specifically designed to encourage as little social interaction as possible. There was a bedroom for each of the 4 roommates, and all they shared was a little hallway and 2 bathrooms.
In this room, we have a little kitchen and living room. I think this is really nice, although now my worry is that my roommates will take my stuff. I'm not saying they're bad people - in fact, they probably have the same worries - it's just something at the back of my mind.
Also, I know my way around the campus fairly well now, but when I got to this new community, I had a hard time finding my way around it. However, I think my sense of direction has improved a lot in just these few hours.
Classes start this Monday for me. I can't decide whether I wish we got more time or not.
I haven't played the particular game that Tango is from, but still... robo kitty. :DNice! Good luck!
Been sleeping in the basement due to family members arriving for the eclipse.
This made me the only sleeping person accessible to my dog once he got out of his bed.
I awoke to being licked all over my face, at which point he knocked my pillow off the old mattress my parents dragged out yesterday. (Before then, I had a sleeping bag to mummify myself in. Closest thing to camping in years.)
Pupper alarm clock was great.
On the topic of the eclipse, Paducah is in the epicenter, so we'll be seeing a total eclipse.
Then, plenty of tourists around the world will be staying for a second quilt festival in September! Two in one year.
our city is the quilt capital of the world
that's pretty much the greatest thing our town has to its name I think idk

Oh DANG.
My area won't be seeing a total eclipse, so people are leaving in droves to go to Wyoming and Nebraska. I probably won't even be seeing a partial eclipse, since I'll be at work. Maybe I can peek out the window...?
Luckily, my kid and her dad's side of the family are in Wyoming, camping out to see the total eclipse. I'm glad she gets to see it.
I have a similar problem. According to my class schedule, I'll be in class during the eclipse. Hopefully the professor will let us go outside to see the eclipse.

I haven't played the particular game that Tango is from, but still... robo kitty. :DWell, I got a car now. It's an old beater, but for $800 it's in decent shape.
I got to see the eclipse! 92% coverage! SPOILER: it was heckin amazing
What was even better was what it did to the sky. It was sunny and blue, yet darker than it should have been. It was super cool, yet disconcerting—the only other time I see the sky like that is during large wildfires, when the smoke blots out the sun and I have to worry about my firefighter buddies doing their jobs in the Land Of Incendium.
So, yeah. Cool sky, minus the smoke and fire normally required to make it happen? OMG YES. We should do this more often. ;)
72% was just a little weird here. Dark enough you can walk around without sunglasses with no cloud cover, a little bluer, shadows sightly crisper.
Fresh-eyed movie blogTotal eclipse here!
It was great!
Arrived home from work right as it was starting to get dark.
I was assigned today to launch a page on The Other Wiki for a project the people I work with are promoting. One of the things I did on the page was list some notable people involved. I marked them all up as Wiki Words and then refreshed the preview and deleted the ones that were redlinks. Thankfully, before I published the page, I checked all the links in it to make sure they were correct, because one of the notables that the link worked did not go to a page about that person, but about an entirely unrelated infamous rapist.
That might have been worse than the time I sent out an email newsletter where I got June and July mixed up and told everyone the network television event was happening next week rather than next month. Possibly. While network TV is a huge deal and that newsletter went to tens of thousands of people, probably all of one person would see the embarrassing wiki link before it got corrected.
