Troper Updates II, Part II

In which we get updates from the lives of tropers. Kinda like Twitter with more than 140 characters, but less than a blog or LJ.

Please refrain from excess venting in this thread. Talking about negative emotions is fine but it's best not to dwell on them for too long. TV Tropes is not suited to deal with mental health situations.

Oh yeah. With The Simpsons and Family Guy, I can certainly see it.

They also have lots of trash though, like Cops, and all their When Animals Attack and Busted: Caught on Camera crap as well.

I used to watch Cops, but I try not to anymore because I think it overly glamorizes the police at the expense of the poor (and given recent events, that's not something I'd want to support). This is probably also true for the Police Videos specials, though they mainly stuck to car chases.

The shows and specials with animals and such weren't so bad, but the Manipulative Editing and fake drama (and obviously fake sound effects!) get old after a while.

No, not that FOX. This is a different FOX exclusive to my country, but still using the same logo and under the same company.

I guess FOX does whatever it thinks it needs to in order to compete in each market. Be ultra-right in the US and grab an audience that feels like their views are being respected (gee, maybe because their views are stupid?), or be ultra-left in Turkey, I'm guessing. I take it Turkey has nothing else that's ultra-left and has a sizeable audience? If so, that's probably why FOX took that position there.

What are they like in Turkey? Like, what kinds of shows, news and opinions do they have?

We do have an ultra-left network, but it also happens to be horrendously chauvinistic. FOX is just... left-leaning.

It also airs a lot of fluffy young adult TV series and several soap operas that are so goddamn awful they have to be seen to be believed.

Fox doesn't really exist in Britain — their reputation is well-known here. In terms of News Channels, we have Sky News, which is subject to the same tight broadcasting regulations on impartiality as the rest of TV News.

There was a Supreme Court case in the US (such cases tend to involve laws that affect everyone) involving Fox News many years ago. They fought for the right to not have to tell the truth. They won. And now we see the result.

Also, The Following directly involves TV Tropes?

You don't have to tell the truth. You can also, you know, shut up.

((You being Fox News, not any specific person.))

[up][up]No, it doesn't. The first antagonist uses literary conventions against Keven Bacon's character, because the former was previously a literature professor/struggling author.

This is a signature.

Tried my hand at baking bread today. For some reason the dough wouldn't QUITE knead properly either the first or second times, so I decided to let it go after it started getting really heavy and mostly stuck together.

Arms feel like they're about to fall off.

Also, it's taking a while to bake. Around twelve minutes into the twenty minutes recommended, I noticed it was still pretty pale and so I extended the time from eight minutes to fifteen (seven more minutes). And it's STILL not browning up, so I'll add ten more minutes.

On the plus side, I have more deconstruction/reconstruction fuel for basically all of my medieval stories since BAKING BREAD IS A FUCKING WORKOUT. No wonder pro bakers were historically men.

The most tasteless reality show ever was on Fox. "The Swan: each week we follow two women we've decided are uggos through a total makeover including plastic surgery and the painful recovery from it, then we decide which one isn't pretty enough to move on to the beauty pageant finale!"

Protip for those of you on Facebook: If you want to metaphorically unfriend someone without actually unfriending them; just go to their profile and uncheck "following". This will stop their posts showing up in the newsfeed and the activity menu. It's like you unfriended them without actually unfriending them! If that's not enough; then you can put them in the Restricted list category. This means you'll never see their updates or activity, and they'll never see your activity or updates.

The crust is super-pale brown and hard as a rock, but once you get past it, my first attempt at bread is pretty good! It's edible AND it tastes nice!

Now I have an excuse to get more flour over the weekend since I used it all up.

Proper bread has a hard crust.

Incidentally, here's a tip: If you tap the crust with the back of a knife or spoon and it sounds hollow, it's done (or close to).

...I feel like baking some bread now.

I guess I feel lucky for not using Facebook, or any other social platform aside from Skype (even then, it feels fairly lonely there).

I couldn't login yesterday because the computer had a boot problem. My dad found the solution, I just hope it's not a workaround for a problem that is still technically present. sad

Lost my 3DS charger. I'm enraged at the universe.

I lost it some time around when I rearranged my room for my computer and I let my sister use my 3DS.

She says she doesn't have it, but she's always messing with my stuff even after she moved out.
