The Nausicaa manga is a hundred times better than the movie.
I dunno if this is borderline link-discuss but someone watch this video and tell me if it's as bad as I think it is.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference. It would help if you could clarify what you mean by "this" and "bad", just to be sure that we're on the same page.
BTW... Does anyone recognize the anime series with female wrestlers in 10:07? And the one with mecha and other vehicles in the background in 17:57?

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.I remember watching a review video of that wrestling series. The series is called Wanna Be The World's Strongest, apparently.
17:57 is Gundam 00.

Spelunking through a Halo Ring is something else...It's a video on any anime dubs change the script sometimes or something. I wanted to know if it was an actual analysis or just some dude bitching. From the description it seems to be the former.

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.I knew the first one was familiar, I just couldn't remember the title. Thanks.
Well, having sat through the whole thing while writing my previous post, I can definitively confirm that it's indeed the former, with the clarification that he actually concludes that the issue is more complicated than it seems and there's no easy answer.
I give the guy props for trying to be as fair as possible, and he did shed light on things that I never knew about the dubbing process. It still not going to change my aversion towards watching dubbed anime, though; for all that director Oshii has said about there not being any such thing as a "true translation", I still prefer to hear and see things the way the original source material tried to tell and portray them, both the good and the bad. Hell, "good" and "bad" are technically subjective labels.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Crunchyroll made a wonderful little vid with the guys from Rocket Jump.
One of those body pillows was of D.Va, I swear.
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference. For anyone with a VRV subscription, they just stealth launched an update today that allows for Offline viewing on Mobile Devices.
x3 That was completely unrealistic. There’s no way Dubs and Subs wouldn’t kill each other at the end and drag Neo Otaku city down with them!

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.I just realized how many series are based off of Urusei Yatsura:
To Love Ru! is UY with a beta protag and more ecchi
Oh! My Goddess is UY with a beta protag and less ecchi
Minna Agechau is UY minus the aliens with more sex comedy
Can someone think of any more?

Huh. So it wasn't just me who noticed the similarities between UY and To Love Ru.
Also, I've been watching the dub of Shin Cutey Honey.
Man, that 90's cheese. Also Mazinger Danbei is the greatest thing ever. Makes me want to check out some of the other adaptations of the franchise.

One Strip! One Strip!Magical Girlfriend. They were going long before Urusei Yatsura.
The genre actually dates back to Bewitched's airing in Japan and that kickstarted Magical Girlfriend and Cute Witch genres.
AI Love You, Akikan, Cat Planet Cuties, Heavens Lost Property, Haiyore Nyarkosan, Seto No Hanayome, Please Teacher, Sekirei, and I could go on an on.

Nyarko-San was the best
Agreed, its a shame that we will never see any more of that.
Never read UY. I did notice that Nisekoi's cast was practically a copy of To Love Ru's, though.
You should. It's world's better than most modern ecchi/harem (even it came out before either of those genres really existed). Unlike, say, To Love Ru!, the jokes & puns are actually funny. As for the anime, it's O.K., but personally I prefer the movies, like Beautiful Dreamer.
And Nisekoi is derivative as hell in general, seriously why does anyone like that shit
"Why/how could anyone like this thing I don't like?" has to be one of the most useless questions a person could ask, period.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that....are you sure you posted that in the right thread?
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference. One person’s derivative work is another person’s unique work. It all depends on what the person has seen, Nisekoi was derivative of previous works but it was like 5 years since a full on Harem Romcom like that had aired. It’s an effect of Seven-Year Rule and Seinfeld Is Unfunny combined.
But Nisekoi wasn’t a Magical Girlfriend series it was just a standard Romcom.
Oh yeah Monster Musume No Iru Nichijou that’s another Magical Girlfriend series with a Harem.
Are they really magical, though?
It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.Re: Anime Crimes Division.
I see a Barbatos in the background of the EP.
This has been my obligatory Gundam nerd moment.
Spelunking through a Halo Ring is something else...I give Nisekoi shit but I like the ending enough to stay positive on the series as a whole.
Anyway not going to read UY. I don't actually like harem/ecchi stuff.
It was actually a very personal project for Miyazaki. I don't think it was a cash grab. Dude spent years refining it and it shows.
