I added Popularity Polynomial to the crowner. The crowner looks kind of bloated to me. Maybe we should start with a new one?

"Learning without thinking is labor lost. Thinking without learning is dangerous."I think at this point we can unhook the crowner and settle things by talking about them. We're no longer adding things to the index en masse, so it's practical to talk about individual additions now (where it wouldn't have been when the index was first created).
Rhymes with "Protracted."I personally think it's easier to judge consensus with a crowner. It can be hard to keep track of agreement and disagreement in a conversation, particularly if multiple things are being discussed at once. A crowner is also less likely to have people jumping the gun.
But either way, I agree that this particular crowner should go, whether it's just unhooked or whether it's replaced.
Have we considered Cash-Cow Franchise?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerNot as far as I can see.
Hmm, well, I don't know whether we want to use the crowner or just talk about it, but it looks like trivia to me.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI would agree.
Yeah, I can certainly see Cash-Cow Franchise being Trivia.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Adding Bleached Underpants to the list.
That's not Trivia because it's something visible in the work(s) themselves.
Calling:
- Fanwork Ban (10 a, 0 n)
- Stillborn Franchise (13 a, 3 n)
- Backed by the Pentagon (12 a, 2 n)
- Production Posse (11 y, 1 n)
- Disabled Character, Disabled Actor (12 y, 2 n)
I'm going to unhook the crowner and add some stuff to a new one.

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerNew crowner's in. Some stuff from the previous crowner may need calling, but it's so messy, we might as well put them here.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerBleached Underpants is something you wouldn't know from the work itself, but you would know if you knew the other iterations of it. So it is outside any one work, but still an internal trope for the franchise.
A blog that gets updated on a geological timescale.I'm having trouble understanding the rationale behind making Germans Love David Hasselhoff and Americans Hate Tingle trivia. Those are rather clear audience reactions. Audience reactions aren't visible in the work either, but that doesn't make them trivia.

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - Fighteer^Because we are doing it in a crowner. These always tend to attract uninformed votes. I was wondering too.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanLooks like we're in some danger of mixing up Trivia and and Audience Reaction. Should be easy to keep them apart:
Trivia are facts. Audience Reactions are opinions.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyWhich is what the above two are. Given that the crowner votes also dropped significantly after the items were called (unlike most called items), I think they're safe to go back to YMMV.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerThe YKTTW sponsor of Long-Runner Cast Turnover felt it could be trivia. I'm not sure. Opinions?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerIt sounds like Trivia, since it's about casting choices.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSooo... is it okay to add Bleached Underpants back to the list, or has it been struck down?
I would say that it could be re-added, as it only had five votes on the previous crowner.
Eddie removed it.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerOh. Right. Sorry. I forgot that was the jargon term.
ETA: I don't think Long-Runner Cast Turnover is Trivia because it's something that is (usually) observable in the work itself: you can tell when cast members have been changed, and it can have an impact on the story, too.

Misattributed Song seems pretty non-subjective to me. Most of the examples seem to be misattributed to only one individual artist; it's not like some people think the song is by X, Y, Z, or Q when it's really by A, they just think it's by X. IMO it seems no more subjective than people thinking a certain quotation goes one way when it's really another.
Crown Description:
The Trivia category is for narrative conventions that cannot be determined from the final product itself. These are details of production and behind-the-scenes events that influenced the end result of the product. This crowner is used in conjunction with this thread. Please post in the thread before adding tropes to this list. Previous crowner here. Make a new crowner after 40 tropes.
