Subpages cleanup: Complete Monster

Go To

During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.

Specific issues include:

  • Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
  • A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
  • Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
  • Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
  • Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.

It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:

IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.

When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. "[tup] to everyone I missed").

No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.

We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.

What is the Work

Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.

Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?

This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.

Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?

Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.

Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?

Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard

Final Verdict?

Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Okay (deep breath):

Not voting on God until an original effortpost is made.

[tup] Zash; Sadiq (if HE doesn't mention it, and it's not even mentioned in his profile, I'm not so sure it's mitigating; incidentally, looks like this dude became a terrorist); Morax (looks like it's actually Icon Comics, so we're good); Khalid (I read the issue; not the most developed character at ALL, but his acts are heinous enough).

Abstaining on Jim the Ripper.

Hm. [tup] Jack the Ripper.

Now then, on Funny Games... it's weird. They tick all the boxes, but the whole mete textual thing makes it difficult. Like, if they know they're fictional, does that make their deeds less awful? Or is it like Shakespeare, when the villain addresses the audience?

...

A tentative [tup] for the duo. And the film has a point; it's not tasteless schlock for the sake of it. It questions what an audience wants from violent films and whether we are complicit in the actions portrayed on screen - which is a difficult subject and I think it's more complicated what the film suggests. I actually briefly studied it when I was doing my course on Film as Philosophy. That was a great course.

[tup] to Emperor Morax (if she can beat him that easily, why not just do it in the first place?), Doctor Khan, and Mr. Wright.

I'll give a tentative [tup] to Jack the Ripper.

I'll give a to the duo a [tdown], if they know their fictional villains how can they have agency? Its not as simple as them breaking the forth wall, they outright discuss the conventions and tropes of story they're in.

Retry.

Work is Preacher comic series (primary series + specials and Saint of Killers miniseries) I finished reading. I question about this candidate on this Subpage Cleanup thread (I asked why isn’t he counted despite being the most heinous character in the setting without clear redeeming qualities) and was told I could EP him. So here he is.

What is the setting?

Preacher tells the story of Jesse Custer, a preacher in the small Texas town of Annville. Custer is accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature named Genesis, the infant of the unauthorized, unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon. The incident flattens Custer's church and kills his entire congregation. Genesis has no sense of individual will, but since it is composed of both pure goodness and pure evil, its power might rival that of God Himself, making Jesse Custer, bonded to Genesis, potentially the most powerful being in the universe. Driven by a strong sense of right and wrong, Custer journeys across the United States attempting to literally find God, who abandoned Heaven the moment Genesis was born. He also begins to discover the truth about his new powers. They allow him, when he wills it, to command the obedience of those who hear and comprehend his words. He is joined by his old girlfriend Tulip O'Hare, as well as a hard-drinking Irish vampire named Cassidy. Our candidate is none other than Lord Almighty himself.

Who is God?

Before there was time, before there was anything, there was nothing. And from nothing a being was born. That being was God. Due to the fact that there was nobody and nothing around Him God become lonely and wanted company. Company that would love and adore Him. That the history behind creation of the angels. After some time God become bored with their company. So He decided to “heat things up a little”. To test true love and loyalty of His angels and also create Him more company. He tells the Angels that He was going to create a new species that was capable to think for themselves and choose their one spiritual destiny. That species was Humanity. Every angel knew what it would mean. Without the real presence of God humans would simply go on their ways, divide into factions and fight war upon war among themselves. Half of the angels went berserk on the spot of such senseless act of cruelty from God. And so, as God expected, a great and terrible war started in heavens between the angels. Angel fought angel, heaven rang with clash of iron, the streets of paradise ran with blood. Eventually Loyalist angels triumph over traitors. And the rebellion was cast down from heaven. Pleased with the results, God created Humanity. As expected, not long after, they started wage wars upon themselves, with some of them trying to prove their love and devotion to God by tearing apart “nonbelievers”.

After being pleased with Himself for a time, God become bored again. He decided to challenge Himself by trying to gain love from someone, who himself was full of hate. He decided to engineer the downfall of a terrible man, bloodthirsty killer, who had tried to become a good family man. He created a blizzard in right time, so that gang of outlaws would cross path with that man while he was trying to bring cure to his wife and daughter, who suffered from fever, and delay him from coming home with that cure. As a result of losing his family he would damn himself to hell, trying to gain his revenge. This man became the Saint Of Killers, new incarnation of Death. Saint killed Satan, which upset the balance of Hell, and dozens of completely unrelated men, women and children. Previous incarnation of death, Angel of Death, was cast aside. All the results which God knew would happen.

Still desiring a bigger challenge, God created a plan: Create a Being as powerful as He is and gain its love, loyalty and devotion. So God arranged for Seraphim, patrolling the edges of Heaven, to meet a demon on the edges of Hell. He arranged events for them to fall in love and have a child. And the child, Genesis, from this union was born. A Being of the new idea, capable of matching in power with Lord Almighty Himself. Didn’t wanting to fight a being that could actually hurt Him, He ran from Heaven. Planning to gain its love from safe distance. Due to entity lacking in sentience and being only pure power angels were able to capture it without help of God. Eventually Genesis was able to escape its prison and find a home in the body of Jesse Custer, a strong-willed Texas preacher who considered God's neglect of His creation to be a betrayal of His responsibilities as a Creator. So Jesse, along with his friends Tulip and Cassidy, went on a quest to find God and make Him answer for His neglect of the world.

God wanted for Jesse to give up his quest. So in first attempt He granted Jesse’s terrifying grandmother Marie L'Angell and her henchmen’s Jody and T.C. immunity to Genesis-granted power – Word of God and tells them where to find Jesse and Tulip. While also manipulating Marie in to believing this is the right thing to do and she will be in heaven for doing that. He allows them to kill Tulip right before Jesse’s eyes, so He could resurrect her in closed bedroom, where He told Marie to leave Tulip’s dead body. He tell Tulip to not be afraid and that’s He is “Loving God”. He asks her to tell Jesse to give up his search. Tulip tells God that that’s not going to work on Jesse, while also questioning his status as a “Loving God”. Which resulted to Him threatening Jesse and Tulip’s life, by saying that “next time they meet, it would be much worse for them”.

Next time God appeared before Cassidy, while he was horribly tortured in the basement of Masada, the French headquarters of The Grail. He stops time for a bit and tells Cassidy to tell Jesse to once again give up his quest. After which He was going to let Cassidy’s torture to continue. When Cassidy question that and ask why, God answer that Cassidy deserved that and more for a “crime” of being a vampire. After that He tortures and kills Seraphim (father of Genesis), who was captured by The Grail, for revealing information about Genesis and how to access its powers and knowledge to Jesse.

Third time God decided to meet Jesse face-to-face. After Jesse fall from an airplane at the edge of a nuclear holocaust from Herr Starr’s nuke, God saved him from death. He told Jesse that, despite his defiance, He still loved him, and offered His blessing. Jesse question that and start question his “loving nature” and his “ways”. He calls God a coward and speculated that when God take away Genesis powers from Jesse when he was captured by Marie, it was not the God who returned Genesis power back to Jesse when time come, it was Genesis by itself. After Jesse tries using Word on God, but was stopped by enraged Lord Almighty, who was mad that Jesse question His authority and tried to use Word at Him. He started strangling Jesse and demand that he “repent his sins”, “begs for forgiveness” and “bow down before his master”. Jesse simply spat in His face, which resulted in God becoming more mad with his defiance and sucking out his eye. God was prepared to kill Jesse but was stopped by Saint Of Killers, who already discover that God was behind his family murder. God escaped and went into hiding again.

Time goes and God remained hidden, knowing that if He appeared again Jesse would be ready. But His chance come from someone, He never thought would come to Him. It was Cassidy, who propose a deal: he beat Jesse to death (thus releasing Genesis and separating it from Jesse) and dies in the sunlight and God, in return, resurrect Jesse and Cassidy afterwards. Thus God would be safe to return to Heaven. God agrees, unaware that Jesse has plan of his own: He would die and release Genesis and make God think He safe to return to Heaven, where Saint Of Killers would be waiting for Him, desiring revenge for his family. When Jesse was killed, God went back to Heaven having fulfilled his promise to Cassidy: both he and Jesse were once again alive and well. He even restores Cassidy’s humanity. However it was hardly out of actual generosity, as much it was out of His desire to stroke His ego as a “loving god” some more and removing actual threat to His power as well. He wastes no time bragging about Him fulfilling His end of a deal before gates of heaven, assuming his Host of the Angels would be hearing that, as, what He thinks, a prove of His status as a “loving god’. He expected that would reinforce their faith in Him. He came through the gates of Heaven to find the entire Host of angels dead and the Saint of Killers standing in middle of massacre. God tried to intimidate Saint at first, by saying that the world was His creation and He can do with it as He pleases, as an answer to Saint question about why He made world so bad and people so miserable. When He sees that threats were not working and Saint were prepared to shoot Him, He tried to bargain with the Saint, offering to return his life, his humanity, his family to him. The Saint replied, that all he wanted is to rest and kills God.

Heinous Standard?

The most heinous character in the series. Being responsible for billions of death’s, suffering of both angels and humans and Crapsack state of the world to begin with. All because He wanted to be endlessly admired and praised by everyone as a “Loving God”. Despite not being mile close to even be considered just a decent guy. And apparently didn’t even wanted to be decent, acting like spoiled brat and an abuser: Taking everything from the world and periodically throwing a couple nice things only if He feels like it (if only not to take it away).

Mitigating Qualities?

Blue and Orange Morality?: Not the case. It was noted and even He Himself admits knowing that what He do is bad. He just didn’t care. All He care about is being loved and admired.

Freudian Excuse?: Don’t hold up. Considering scale of His crimes and His general lack of care about anyone but himself. He could stop anytime but chooses to screwing up the world until He’s cornered. And He’s apparent remorse for His crimes is dubious at best.

Child-like state of mind?: He less of Anthony Fremont (an actual child’s misunderstanding of right and wrong, good and evil) and more of Joffrey Baratheon (spoiled brat, who gives no shit about anyone, as long as he himself happy). He knows what He’s doing is bad, He just didn’t care. He himself admits it by the end, when Saint Of Killers point gun at Him.

Supposed Pet the Dog?: Certainly aren’t committed out of actual kindness or respect and more likely out of desire to be seen as “Loving God”, by bragging about it to his angels as a proof of His “goodness”, while also removing threat to his power. Nothing Jesse or Cassidy would do after will matter anyway, Jesse no longer had Genesis and Cassidy didn’t even have his vampire powers, and God can continue go on with his abuse of the world and its people. Nobody would question or defy Him and He’s got supposed proof of his “Loving” nature which He can brag about.

Conclusion?

I stick with Yea. He deserves a spot in CM list.

[tup] for Zash Caine, King Morax, Dr. Khalid Khan, Mr. Wright and another Jack the Ripper with an interesting twist.

Abstaining on Paul and Peter for now.

@Elfen Lied Fan 90: The way I see it, Soth is as responsible for the plan of using the small pox to blackmail the government as Sadono is. And after Sadono is captured, Soth tries to carry out a terrorist attack on his own. I think that makes him slightly more heinous. So it’s a weak yes for cutting Sadono. But If other think he shouldn’t be cut, that’s fine by me, too.

@ ACW: He looks like Sadiq because Carlo Rota, who played Morris O'Brian, is his voice actor. Or maybe Splinter Cell and 24 take place in the same universe and Morris O'Brian faked his death to become a terrorist. Wouldn’t be the first time that happend.wink

[tup] Commissioner James Gordon.

So I'm gonna get this one out of the way first because I feel like I'm taking a risk in bringing this franchise up. But seriously, I need you guys to hear me out on this one. I'm being serious here, and want a professional and unbiased discussion.

Okay, the reason why My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is on the "Never Again" list is due to seemingly no villain meeting the baseline of heinousness this far, and thus pretty much every canonical villain is overlooked here (at least to my knowledge).

Well...I think I found the one who pushes past the baseline.

My Little Pony: The Movie (2017) is a recent film based on the latest cartoon and as you can guess is the Big Damn Movie of the series that focuses on world building and has higher stakes involved than the cartoon. It focuses on an adventure to stop an army that has invaded Equestria after it conquered half the world...and destroyed parts of it as well.

And who is the head of this army ? Why the Storm King of course.

Who is the Storm King ?

The Storm King is a warlord and leader of a vast armada. A satyr or yeti like creature who puts up the front of being an affable, childish, goofball at first, he is in fact a power hungry and ruthless sociopath, with no loyalty but to himself doesn't care who or what he has to destroy in order to get the power he wants, even those who are loyal to him. In addition to power, this guy really wants to make a name for himself, going as far as to try to make a brand for himself.

So basically Eredin Bréacc Glas in a G-Rated setting.

What Does He Do ?

Pillage and Burn. Rinse and repeat, until he has conquered half of the world. The Storm King has led his army from country to country, enslaving populations, raiding their goods, and burning entire cities and villages, leaving the lands he conquered devastated. Uninterested in politics, he doesn't bother establishing an actual empire, instead moving onto the next kingdom to conquer and starting the process all over again; despite this, his ultimate goal is still world domination. In fact the opening narration of the comics describes that he's destroyed more countries than he's taken over.

The comics that tie in to the film first depict the Storm King leading his army in an invasion of the country of Abyssinia, inhabited by anphrophormorphic cats, before moving on to siege their capital of Panthera, which he has burned. The Storm King enters the palace where he raids the treasury in front of the King and Queen, apathetic that Abyssinia is a trade nation and he's effectively starving its citizens. He asks if they have any magic items and finds a gem called Misfortune Malachite, which is said to cause bad luck to whomever possesses it; not that he cares, it's magical and therefore worth something to him. This is just another day in the office for this guy. Next, the Storm King talks to his second in command Strife, where he exposits that he has no loyalty to his men; he puts on a Benevolant Boss front to ensure their loyalty, and expects them to sacrifice everything for him, and get no sacrifices nor actual loyalty in return. This causes Strife to turn against the Storm King behind his back.

Strife approaches a crew of anthropomorphic sky-pirate-birds, lead by led by Captain Caleno, who often steals from the Storm King's smaller ships, and offers the pirates access to their main treasury. The heist goes off without a hitch, but the escape is short lived, as the Storm King catches up to them pretty quickly, and has Strife thrown to his presumed death. The Storm King than pressgangs Caleno and her crew into working for his army as cargo haulers, whilst giving her a chokehold. He also tries to have a ship with children on it shot down. His next appearance in the comics focus on the films secondary antagonist Tempest Shadow (real name Fizzypop Berrytwist) a cynical loner unicorn, who's problems stem from loosing her horn as a child to a bear attack. Eventually she finds Misfortune Malachite and finds herself on the run from the Storm King's army for most of the issue, until the Storm King himself catches up to her. Rather than kill her, he's impressed at her resilience and cleverness and offers her a position as second in command in exchange for fixing her horn once he conquers Equestria. He also decided the Malachite isn't worth the trouble since all it brings is bad luck and destroys it.

Later on, the Storm King has Tempest lead his army on a kingdom of Hippogriffs, in their kingdom of Hippogriffia. In the ensuing battle, another city is destroyed and their queen Nova is forced to take her people and flee into an underwater kingdom of Sequestria, where she uses a magic orb to turn her people into hippocampuses and hide from the Storm King.

In the movie proper, the Storm King's army invades Equestria's capital of Canterlot, where three alicorn Princesses, Celestia, Luna and Cadence turned to statues and the populace is immediately enslaved with the Mane Six being forced to flee and seek help from the Hippogriffs. The Storm King makes his first onscreen appearance ordering Tempest Shadow to find the fourth Princess Twilight Sparkle, as he needs the alicorn magic to empower his Staff of Sacanas. The Storm King reminds Tempest of the promise he made her, but also warns that if she fails, he will break more than her horn.

From then on, Tempest serves as The Heavy in tracking down Twilight and her friends as they explore go on their world building adventure, meeting the characters from the tie-in material, now serving as the supporting cast. After the Plot-Mandated Friendship Failure between Twilight and her friends, Tempest captures Twilight and takes her back to Canterlot. During this, Twilight sees the Storm King's army has Ponyville set ablaze. The Storm King finally meets Twilight at the castle and had her magic drained and begins testing his new found powers, from playing with the sun and moon, to blasting Twilight through a wall. Tempest asks the Storm King to restore her horn, but the Storm King reveals he had no intention to keep his promise and has been using her this whole time. At which point he tries to murder her.

Luckily, Twilight's friends and her new allies come to the rescue and fight their way through the Storm King's army. Not that he cares and decides to continue his show of power by summoning a giant devastating storm onto Canterlot that threatens to destroy the city. When they reach the castle, they snatch the staff from the Storm King's hands and it's nearly blown away by the storm. Both Twilight and the Storm King race to grab it but both are sucked into the storm too their seeming deaths. A minute of those goes by before it turns out Twilight is alright, but the Storm King climbs over the ledge, holding his obsidian orbs as he prepares to turn the Mane Six into stone. Tempest, pulling a Heel–Face Turn due to the Storm King's betrayal and Twilight saving her from the storm, tackles the Storm King over the edge as the explosion goes off, turning both into stone. While Tempest is caught and restored along with everything else, the Storm King falls to the courtyard below and shatters upon impact.

Redeeming Qualities or Freudian Excuse ?

None.

Now he does have this Laughably Evil streak about his personality, but his crimes are never played for laughs. Everything he does always has a serious undertone or dark Mood Whiplash, especially in terms of his more villainous actions. Yes, he's can be a sardonic, childish, and affable Large Ham whose got a bit of a gag of trying to brand himself, but then at the drop of a hat he shows himself as a menacing, cruel and ruthless being. By his own admission, his affable side is BS, and his saying or doing something funny isn't mixed in with his villainy unless it's to underscore him as a Psychotic Manchild. One minute he's giving a message to Tempest and acting like this is the first time he's having a Skype call; the next he's threatening her with an Implied Death Threat in the event of her failure; One minute, he's dancing around playing with the sun and moon; the next he summons a giant storm to destroy a city and threatens his prisoners, slaves and even army all at once.

In short he's got this Bill Cipher, La Sombra or Aku type attitude in being genuinely evil and threatening, while providing comic relief at the same time. This guy is clearly having a blast; "Yeah. So, speaking of problems, this place, it seems a little too... oh, I don't know... CUTE!! I don't like cute! I never did like cute! Doesn't really go with my whole "big bad powerful magic guy" thing, does it?! Deliver the punchline, Tempest, because this has gotta be a Joke!"

As mentioned his character is further explored in the comics.

In the comics, part of what's established about his character is that his only real loyalty is to himself. He tells one of his lackeys that he behaves as a Affably Evil Benevolant Boss to his troops as a front to buy and ensure their loyalty. He makes it clear that he only sees his army as extensions to his will and he simply doesn't care about them. In fact, he later kills that same lackey, and when he promises to restore Tempest's horn, it turns out he's just using her and when the time comes, he tries to murder her as well. And callously summons a storm that would have decimated his remaining army. By his own words "It's what I do".

He also explains that he hates everything to do with love and friendship, viewing them as weaknesses and distractions, while loyalty is nothing more than a tool. He also despises all things cute, often expressing this through a sarcastic or petulant quips about cute things. His worldview is everything that the FIM worldview stands against.

Another thing we get about in the comics where he alludes to his past is and motivations which he mixes with a Badass Boast; "Now, I'm sure some of you may be asking: Why? Why do I desire conquest about all else? For that matter, who is the Storm King? Was I the child of a thundercloud and the sky? Was I born from an egg on a mountaintop? Am I merely an ordinary creature with dreams of greatness? What does it matter? I am purely what I am—no more and no less. I am not the king of the storm... I am a king who is a storm." In the comics, the Storm King admits to Tempest that he doesn't care for magic so much as he has power, and when asked why, he responds with "What else is there ?"

Heinous Standard

The reason I brought him up is by my observations, he goes well past the baseline beyond most of the other MLP villains. This guy has the highest implicate and attempted bodycount compared to the rest of the villains.

The three villains on the show that come close to the Storm King in heinousness is Sombra, enslaved an entire kingdom and started a war in an alternate timeline but was a GDV; Tirek who stole magic from every being in Equestria and attempted to go on a Kaiju style rampage; Crysalis, manipulating her entire species for vampiric draining on Canterlot's populace.

The way I see it, Storm King blows all of them out of the water due to combining the previous three's heinous factors (slavery, invasion, war mongering, magic draining) and taking them Up To Eleven by spreading this to the point of conquering half the world - he's got entire cities and villages destroyed, countries and populations devastated, committed one onscreen execution. (Y'know for a snow storm themed villain, he sure does a lot of burning) And finally just decides to destroy Canterlot, along with his prisoners and army just as a way of celebrating his newfound power. Resources wise, he manages to do most of this with no actual magic power of his own, simply using his army and enchanted weapons he gradually got his hands on - case in point obsidian orbs that can turn victims to stone which in the FIM world is heavily implied to be And I Must Scream.

Not bad I'll say. Well actually it is bad since this is this guys heinous actions.

Franky I'm surprised this guy wasn't even considered previously. I'm gonna let you guys decide on this one of course. In the meantime, Sia's "Rainbow" is still stuck in my head.

I've kind of lost track of the candidates under discussion, but I want to take a moment to vote a solid [tdown] on the Funny Games duo. Everything I've ever heard about the movie makes it clear that it's an explicit metafictional diatribe against slasher flicks and violence in film in general, to an extent that it's basically impossible to call the villains actual independent characters with agency.

Gonna wait for a second opinion on the Storm King - I've seen claims on this site that he's a GDV, and the effortpost sounds clearly enough like he's not that I'm confused whether it's misuse or what.

I have to vote down the Storm King. Regardless of whether or not he's heinous enough, I don't think the film takes him seriously enough. Much of his screen-time is spent with him acting like a manchild: when he first arrives at the princesses' castle, he starts ranting that the place is too cute and that it doesn't go with his "big bad powerful magic guy" thing. When he absorbs the princesses' magic, the first thing he does is start playing with the sun and the moon like a child, hopping excitedly and humming all the while. And he spends a lot of time talking about "trademarking" the title Storm King like a business CEO (his dialogue: "Here's the deal. I'm in the middle of a big re-brand here. "The Storm King" is tracking, well, as intensely intimidating, but you know what? I need to back it up. You know what I need to back it up with? A storm! That would be great!")

At the very least, the antagonists in the show were more consistently played serious. With the Storm King, most of time he's being Played for Laughs a bit too much for me to see him as a CM.

Why so serious?

That's called being Laughably Evil. And as statted his actual villainy is played strait and for all his humor the Storm King brings a serious mood whiplash between jokes.

Never thought I would see an EP for the Storm King.

No the Storm King isn’t a CM. He doesn’t even comes close to be one, in my opinion. He’s a Bad Boss, he steals stuff, he enslaves people and he tries to kill the heroes. That’s typical villain stuff. Even in a show like Fi M. There’s really nothing noteworthy about anything he does. Now if we had actually see him planning to kill the population of Canterlot, it would be a different story.

NTG: That was the joke tongue. But I like your hypothesis [lol]

I'm leaning yes to cutting Sadono. Beast, you were the original proposer. What say you?

I don't know, it's been years since I played the game.

NTG: We still see him destroying cities; even in the movie we see Ponyville is burning and smoking from one of his attacks.

I kinda have to say nay [tdown] on The Storm King. He isn't 100% seriously even with Laughably Evil moments during its seriousness in the story.

[tdown]storm king. Does sound like he doesn't do enough and add in the humour and it becomes difficult for me to vote yes.

[tdown] Storm King. Probably the closest we've had to an MLP CM, but he doesn't quite do it for me. It's way too arguable on how close he is to being played for laughs or him being Laughably Evil for me to give him an upvote.

There seems to be a big difference between Storm King and say Hades in terms of comedy.

So any thoughts on my quote from Angelus/Liam

"Hey, I’m an open book. Anything you want to know. (pause) How sweet that virgin gypsy tasted? Special smell of a newborn’s neck? My first nun? No that’s a great story"

No to the Storm King. No, no, no. He is the definition of pure generic villainy.

Also? No to Peter and Paul. We've voted them down numerous times. Not only is it questionable if they even have true agency due to the weird in-your-face meta parts of the movie, I don't think the film is anywhere near intelligent enough to escape into true satire, leaving a grim, ugly. utterly pretentious film that offers no true characterization for its characters aside from "sadistic unbeatable killers" and "terrified victims." So? Hard no to them.

Elfen lied: I'm gonna repost on Verna as soon as the Storm King discussion is over. Which by the looks of it is pretty fast.
