During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. " to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

- Jerome Valeska, who first appears in season 1's "The Blind Fortune Teller" and ends up in Arkham Asylum for murdering his mother. When interrogated, he laughs it off as if it was a joke. In season 2 episode "Damned If You Do", he and several other inmates are recruited into the Maniax gang by Theo Galavan. In "Knock Knock" Jerome functions as the de facto leader, announcing their presence by throwing several hostages off a roof. Later, he attempts to set a bus full of high school cheerleaders on fire and shoots up the GCPD station, personally killing Commissioner Essen, and kills one of his men for cracking a joke he was about to make. Following the massacre in "The Last Laugh", he announces on live TV that the people of Gotham "ain't seen nothing yet". Later, Jerome kills his father when the carnival is back in town, and poses as a magician to hold a children's hospital charity hostage, killing the deputy mayor. He plans to kill thirteen-year-old Bruce Wayne, threatening his butler Alfred to draw him out. When he gets his hands on Bruce, he begins to slowly slit his throat in the following standoff. While his death prevents him from growing up to be Gotham's most infamous villain, we see that it sets the inspiration for more maniacs to come.
EDIT: For Romanov.

Would this be the same sister he forces to bear his children?
for Romanov

Just letting people know that the Arrowverse Crisis Crossover between Arrow and The Flash is over, and Vandal Savage is dead(for now). If you want to propose him for this trope, please wait one week before doing so per out new rule on weekly releases.
I'm all for waiting, but we've got a long while before talking about Savage. He's going to be the Big Bad of an upcoming series you know.
"It's like...a cliff, and if I do it, I'm just gonna...fall." "I think we're already falling."He did enough in the crossover to be worth bringing up now since his arc has(again, for now) been concluded, which is why I even made my last post.
Yeah, but Savage's return in inevitable and Legends of Tomorrow will be airing soon, so I say we wait a little longer.
"It's like...a cliff, and if I do it, I'm just gonna...fall." "I think we're already falling."You're not wrong, but warning people of our plans before they start considering a Vandal Savage effortpost is still worth typing.
Yeah, I'm conflicted about Savage—I guess technically we *should* wait until May when it's confirmed his arc will be totally over for good (presumably), but there's definitely enough material to consider him a candidate right now.
I guess we'll wait a week or two before making an effort-post, at least.
- rt89, please add that writeup of Valeska to the YMMV page. I like it better than the current one (if you wanna do something similar for Galavan, be my guest).
- Romanov. Freudian Excuse maybe, but it seems he went way beyond that (seriously though, Ivan the Oppressor? Subtle ).
- I think besides Galavan and rewritten Valeska, as well as Game!Ramsay, I'll also submit the MLP fanfics for swapping tomorrow.
- Lighty:
- Didn't you say there might be a character or 2 from Boruto Naruto The Movie who may count? I'm guessing Momoshiki?
- Also, the more I think about it, the more Dante may count.

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsDmitri Romanov. Although I am curious, was Romanov himself ever tortured or advanced upon sexually?
I write stories and shiz. You can read them here.Demon Duck Of Doom: Yes, same sister. Though it was by test tube baby, rather than sex.
Tropers/Tyk5919: As far as I know, Dmitri Romanov was never sexually assaulted himself.
ACW: You got it
Btw, I finished False Covenant today, and something about Iruoch I rather liked...when he forces a thief named Squirrel to work for him, Iruoch vows he will not harm Squirrel while Squirrel is in his service, and actually keeps his word through the whole thing.
Then he gets mad at Squirrel simply because the guy recommended caution when Iruoch has created two large child murders that have the city freaked out, and Iruoch kept switching what he wanted on the drop of a hat (making it kind of impossible for a normal person to follow his train of thought), Squirrel reminds him of the deal they made, to which Iruoch agrees he's going to honor his word. Then promptly tells him he's fired and murders him for fun.

As it is now, how many C Ms does Nickelodeon have? Just three? So two more and it gets its own page.
Nickelodeon will not be getting it's own page regardless of example count.
Why not? I know the notion sounds silly, but if it fits the bill, it fits the bill.
Oh and it actually does have five right now: the vampire from AYAOTD, Dag from Barnyard, Oazi, Unalaq and Dark Danny.

Why wouldn't it?
That was brought up before, and Cartoon Network was mentioned by comparison, except that has 17 (BTW, what's the decision on Hunter Cain?). And all the other subpages are all franchises I think.
Lighty, I've added Momoshiki and Dante to the to-do list. Are there any on the list that can be gone, or keep as is for now? That's a nice touch with Iruoch BTW (almost like Robocop's Dick Jones in reverse). Should it be added to his entry?

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsSo it has to match Cartoon Network in order to get its own subpage?
Cain, since he loved his wife.
Wasn't Cartoon Network only made, because it had numerous examples?

Well, at least more than 5.
Yeah.
Oh, I've gotta do Dante? Hehe, alright then.
Sorry I've been so slow, these do require some effort and I've been super busy. I've got a large pile of to-do monsters
No worries, I just wanna make sure there's not someone on the list who shouldn't be (conversely, is there anyone I should add to the list?).
Yeah, probably best for you to do Dante (if you don't mind); you could probably make a better case than I could.
BTW, I found the 5th book online and spoiled myself; I'm waiting for it to hit the library before I read it in full. I'm gonna miss the characters

He and his sister were prisoners of the previous Tsar throughout their childhood as leverage against their dynasties, as was Vladimir Makarov. It was only when Ivan made sexual advances towards Jocasta that they rose against him.
