To me Miko is The Woobie in a lot of ways, who suffered some severe Character Derailment for the sake of creating plot complications. Also, the arguments against her (at least in the Giant In The Playground community) alway seemed disturbingly misogynistic (to a lesser extent, so was Roy's—and the rest of the Order's—treatment of her).
Plus, I've always been a sucker for wonky builds like that—two-weapon monk/paladin with Tracking? Whee. I think I like Girard for the same reason, though he does seem like a jerk.

Productivity is for people without internet connections. -Count DorkuI shed as many tears watching Rolo Lamperouge of Code Geass die as I did watching Elfen Lied in its entirety. No matter how much hate he gets, he'll always be the show's biggest Woobie for me.
Because I choose to.I like Kate from Lost. I was honestly surprised when I saw how much hate she receives from the fandom. By extension, I don't find the show's Love Triangle plot to detract in any way from the viewing experience. It's not my favourite subplot, granted, but it isn't the show-ruining shitstorm that practically everyone on the It Just Bugs Me! page seems to think.
Extending the notion of 'Scrappy' to real people, I still like George Lucas. It's gotten to the point where whenever I see a 'George Lucas ruined Star Wars' joke, my mind glosses over in fury until the 'joke' passes. It's a sad, lonely world for me, since pretty much everyone online thinks that making such a comment counts as an adequate replacement for humour.
Speaking of Star Wars, I like Karen Traviss. She is generally regarded (particularly on this wiki, where every single goddamn reference to one of her stories ultimately boils down to 'this is why she sucks') as the antichrist of Star Wars novelists. Well, fuck that. I like her works, unironically. They aren't my favourite Star Wars books- not as good as Zahn, at any rate-, but still enjoyable enough reads. Besides, why is she always singled out for the hate, anyway?
https://www.facebook.com/emileunmedicatedanduncutSilver, I admire your optimism and idealism, and you didn't deserve to have Sonic '06 as your debut game. If Sega could only figure out the continuity snarl that is your backstory, you'd make a well-done addition to the cast. Maybe Bioware could do for you what they did for Big in the next Chronicles.
Celia, you may have no business adventuring, but I like you anyways. You're certainly more well-developed than Belkar, at any rate, and your motivations for not killing make perfect sense. Such a shame that the fanbase missed the point of your character.

Are you not entertained?Luvbi. Cute at the worst, it's baffling to me why people keep whining about how snotty she is. I started to understand why she's so loathed on my second playthrough, but still didn't exactly hate her.
Chip is just adorable, and I enjoyed every moment he tagged along with Sonic. Besides, who would have thought God was a purple chihuahua with fairy wings?

Funnily enough, "Internet killed humour" runs in my head quite a bit. But I do find the George Lucas hate stupid, since it's primarily Hype Backlash more than anything. I recall a similar vendetta against Will Wright while I was still on the Spore boards.
Seconding Moogi on Kate, Haven on Miko, and Sapphire on Celia.
I was never bothered by Raiden. Bemused, perhaps, but not bothered.

I wrote about a fish turning into the moon.I'm going to third Miko. I didn't see the later events as Character Derailment, but rather evidence that she was just that fucked up in the head, making her even more of The Woobie.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Kairi is just alright with me.
"Pale Ebenezer thought it wrong to fight, but Roaring Bill (who killed him) thought it right." - Hillaire Belloc, The Pacifist^ Well, you aren't a member of the Fan Dumb fangirls.
Man, I can't stand that "I hate X so obviously everyone else does, too" attitude. Actually, I noticed the other day that The Scrappy entry for Dermott not only seems to be written by someone who despises him, but also claims that he's "universally hated", despite the fact that there are plenty of fans who do like him, and he tends to be the subject of Epileptic Trees * more than hate.
Then again, it's not nearly as bad as this podcast I watched recently where the hosts referred to Dermott, the Murderous Moppets, and Sgt. Hatred as Jackson and Doc "using their powers for evil" and said that anyone who likes the Moppets is just lying to humor Jackson and Doc. *Face Palm* (Between that and their begging for the return of Kim, I almost quit watching because all I could think was "Sweet zombie Jesus, could you two be anymore cliché?") And that's not even getting into the loving descriptions of how these characters should die that I've seen from certain people on the interweb.
Seconded. I don't think she's a great character or anything, but she certainly doesn't deserve the ridiculous amount of hate she gets from fans.

My FF.net account- Jar-Jar Binks. I would even count "Yousa people gonna die" as Anti-narm if enough people agreed with me.
- Not my own, but my parents complained when Clippy was removed from Microsoft Word.
This post was thumped by the Codfish in a Derby Hat
Let's see, trawling through The Scrappy...
- Raki
- Shinji (Asuka, on the other hand, Rescued from the Scrappy Heap, so I wouldn't count her here.)
- Joxer...this may or may not be because he was kinda cute. Don't looke at me like that!

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Scrappies... it takes a bit for me to actually declare a character a scrappy.
- Ewoks. Well, there's nothing to appreciate about them, exactly, but they're not the mockable soul-tainting badness that I've seen them hated as.
- Chibi-usa- She started out as a spoiled brat, but my only problem was that so much focus was put on her. The English dub made her far less tolerable to me, however.
- Rolo Lamperouge- Alas, Poor Scrappy.
IT'S OKAY YUFFIE AND CAIT SITH, I'LL BEAT THE GAME WITH YOU GUYS BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WILL.
Also agreeing on the OOTS Scrappies mentioned - Granted, I'd prolly like Miko even more than I kinda do now if she didn't go completely insane, and I love airheaded, good-hearted characters like Celia.
WHO IS THIS LOSEROh yeah, Celia too.
My FF.net accountPeople hate Yuffie?
I'm one of those people who didn't like Miko's personality one little bit, but who liked her as a character anyway. I wouldn't have wanted to be her friend if she was real, but I think she brought a lot to the strip.
And yeah, I got rather choked up when she died.
the dice are loaded, the deck is stacked, the game itself will hold you back^^I too, was wondering about that. I always found her pretty useful. Cait Sith...not so much.

Play Again? Y/NOh, yeah, the scene where Miko was dying and got called out by Soon's ghost was such a Tear Jerker. It's one of the high points of the strip for me.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.
Because hated characters need love, too! So, what are some fictional characters that a lot of people can't stand, but that you personally love?
In my case:
