Too late!
Interesting. I guess she doesn't show up much in cannon too, right?
Oh, and about the latest chapter. The Cliffhanger left me completely divided, I am not sure if it is surprising enough for me to be "can't wait for more", but.... well too surprising, how the hell Alice got there? It doesn't seem to be by anyway that doesn't involve to much more drama (and likely, wolves and vampires)
Edit:
I am not sure what you mean with that...
Edit2: Also, was that post too long?

"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly. My best guess: when Emmett was walking around without Elspeth, she looked in on him then.
Productivity is for people without internet connections. -Count DorkuSome alternate theories: 1. Practice: Alice got some interaction with other half-vampires and has been improving her shield—it isn't as if she needs permission.
2. Elspeth-only: Elspeth's truth powers make her easier to read, or being close to Alice makes her easier to read. Alice noted in Twilight (Breaking Dawn?) that her powers were limited by her experience: she is a vampire, she was a human, but she was neither wolf nor half at any point, so she's stuck.
Note that in either of those, it's possible Alice read it a fair while ago, and is only showing up now.
Watch me get Jossed.
Also, Edward makes no note on their mental abilities/shields, that is correct, but neither did he have any need to. In Midnight Sun, he doesn't notice Bella isn't there until he tries to read her—like not hearing a particular voice when you're letting it all fade into background chatter.
EDIT: Just figured out what Raw Power meant, I think. Incendiary Exponent is about things being awesome when they are on fire. Bella's Heroic Resolve kept the flames off her. And honestly, if it were really you on fire, wouldn't you like it if your will meant you couldn't keep burning?

Blog; tumblrThat probably explains it, actually. Alice probably got blasted along with everyone else in range with Addy's collected memories back during her and Elspeth's jailbreak. Those memories almost certainly included both wolf and half-vampire memories, so Alice has the experience she needs. Nice and tidy, assuming Alice's canon speculation was actually accurate.

I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard. That quite explains it.
Also, Oh, Crap!.
Oh..kay. The idea was that she just channeled the Hipothetical-part-of-her-power-that-she-inherited-from-her-mother to get a new effect on her shield.
EDIT:
I also liked Edward story, I wonder if that was from Midnight Sun too.

"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.Nope, Edward's transformation wasn't expanded in Midnight Sun. (At least what was published of it.) Through canon and word of god we can gather bits and pieces of what happened, mainly that Carlisle was the doctor in charge and that Elizabeth asked him to save Edward. But that's about it.
...I used to be a Twilight fan. I've read a lot of interviews and questionnaires.

Edward's transformation is described by Carlisle early in New Moon.
...Maybe I don't remember canon as well as I thought I did. HOORAY!
I was happy that chapter 35 Cliffhanger wasn't a friday.
until I realized that this friday might have another, maybe even worse Cliffhanger.
damn

"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly. Is linking it as an old shame not enough? :C
Let's be polite, shall we? Whatever Twilight's merits, this fic wouldn't exist without it.

I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard.I added some links to show that I was joking.
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly. You do know that never works, right?
I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard.Would it had been better if I linked to Yu Gi Oh The Abridged Series?
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly. You could now read posts in this thread at a rate of 1/day and read for a year.
I wonder if the Volturi have thought to do any research on what is limiting Alice's powers. Defense mechanism of wolves would make sense, but not when it seems it doesn't work against other vampire powers, and that doesn't make sense for half-vampires at all. I'm having trouble thinking of a hypothesis other than canon!Alice's, actually.
...
Wait.
Jacob's packmate. We don't need an explanation for Alice to be there, we might just need a reason for the Volturi to be there. And if that's what happened, then they may have already Chelsea'd Alice...
EDIT: Oooor...Alice knows enough to figure out where Elspeth would go, found Emmet/Bella/someone else and got more specific info, and followed her there in search of the memory blast, so she can read half-vamps/werewolves. If she pitched that to the Volturi like that, then they'd probably go along with it.
I'm gonna stop now, this post is getting long and more disconnected from both itself and the story by the letter.

Blog; tumblrOr Alice can see potential futures and saw a potential future where she was in the presence of a half-vampire and went to where that would be more possible.
ophelia, you're breaking my heartPerhaps she noticed, "Hey, Emmett and Rosalie disappeared," and investigated. I'm not sure how she would find them, though.
Or maybe she knows about Genevieve, and was checking on her, and saw that she disappeared, and therefore went to investigate. Which would mean that finding Genevieve was pointless, which would be sad.
On another note, supposing they do turn her, would Genevieve be turned little-old-ladyness and all (with wrinkles, osteoporosis, etc), or would the turning straighten that out, so to speak?
All Cretans are liars.—Epimenides the CretanI think if Alice was checking on Genevieve than Chelsea would have cut that relationship as well. The point of finding Alice's relatives was so that they'd find a relationship that Alice didn't think existed and Chelsea couldn't cut.
Yes, but it seemed to me that it was a gamble that she would have family which neither she nor the Volturi were aware of any family she might have.
EDIT: Oh, now I see your point. If she's been checking on Genevieve, Chelsea would have noticed that relationship and cut it, and she would therefore cease caring to check on her. That makes sense.
Also, had Aro ever read Alice prior to the memory blast thing? In other words, do Elspeth and Siobhan have any memories from Alice?

All Cretans are liars.—Epimenides the CretanYes, Aro has read Alice (he read everybody kept in the dungeon). I've shown Alice memories before.
Hey, the story is now happening in 2010 or 2011?
Also, I was thinking about Pera, and if she is going to show up again and what might have happened with her power now, plus the implications of her powers now she craves for human blood
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.^Huh...I'd been working under the assumption it was the same timeline as the books. Not sure what that is exactly, though.
Pera is like Allirea now, I'd imagine, just a little less practical since she's got straight invisibility—ooh. Pera can stay away from the Volturi, if Elspeth/her mate de-Chelseas her.
edited 28th Jan '11 4:37:32 PM by Randomness
It's currently July 2011 in Radiance.
Pera doesn't have a mate, and mates don't quite reverse the effects of Chelsea anyway.

Is safe to assume that the Volturri Chelsea'd her BEFORE turning, if they din't, they would deserve to be dethroned on the grounds of stupidity alone.
Either way, most vampires experience a boost in they powers. I wouldn't be surprised if she could hide/unhide at distance or be able to hide from Demetri or create several "layers" of hiding places (not sure how to explain it, but you could compare it with several separated dimesions).
Also, I pretty sure the meyer books take less than five years.
Thanks! =)
Will take long before the new chapter?
