The Megalomanic part comes from his goal in the story being go to home town then gradually expand empire from there.The mad scientist thing comes from his frequent making of chemical weapons and if time would permit the occasional "Lightning in a Bottle" which is essential an exploding tazer.Also the fact that was his job in the juvie he and his team had to make tvs,generators,automated crop systems,a freezer ray,stun lasers,guns, and etc but because of limited access to supplies and time he sticks to his trusty chemical weapons.Yes he does indeed lean mad as well by merit of telling his bomb using teammate to use some chemical with Azide(chemicals with this in the name a in the name to see if she dies doing so(I mean using like aparticularlly explosive chemical from the generally explosive azides)) and whether he can do so as well in my pants. ‘’’What’s the Work?’’’

‘’De Blob’’, a two-game series. The plot focuses around a resistance group being formed when Comrade Black, the Big Bad we’ll be focusing on today, invades the planet Raydia to drain it of its colour, turning it into a dystopia, so he can be its dictator.

He quickly enslaves nearly everyone in this planet, forcing them into slave labor so that their negative ink (think Splatoon ink if it was emotion based) can be used to create mooks. The titular Blob and a La Résistance group manage to escape and try to save the planet.

‘’’Who is Comrade Black and what has he done?’’’

While in the original game, De Blob, he rarely escapes standard villainy, he still has noteworthy moments. The enslavement of innocents, for one, and as well as the previously mentioned act him stealing the colour from Raydia is visibly shown to destroy any and all signs of happiness or life in the planet.

When Blob and the resistance group stand against him, as a last resort he attempts to throw the colour into a black hole, where it would have been lost forever. In the Final Boss battle, Blob defeats him, throwing him off to who knows where. Seemingly killed, he lives and is stuck on a tiny island full of cute animals, much to his chagrin.

This may initially be played for laughs as a funny fate, however, in the sequel it goes back to serious. This is when Comrade Black shows the most of his personality, in this sequel. He’s enslaved the cute creatures of this island to build him a cannon, so he can return to Raydia and drain it all over again.

Here, his crimes are a lot more… unique, shall we say. He comes to the planet disguised as a man known as Papa Blanc, who is a priest and running for president. Blob senses something is up, however, and as it turns out, Papa Blanc has been corrupting the citizens of Raydia using strange, odd henchmen called “shepherds” and brainwashing them. It’s made explicit that he’s basically a cult leader. Blob manages to stop him from winning the rigged vote, however it’s not over yet.

There’s a segment of the game in which Black is keeping the Resistance members in a zoo, to be laughed at. However, it’s in the final act of the game where Comrade Black truly steps over the line. Here, he reveals that he’s been playing Blob the entire game: he had been leading him to himself, as he required Blob’s ink to power his Doomsday Device, of which he plans to use to brainwash the entire planet into serving him. This gets Blob ‘’mad’’,, leading him on a direct course to the Comrade.

On the way, he presents Blob with a Sadistic Choice. Save some innocent brainwashed people who are in a room rigged with explosives, risking running out of time to stop the brainwashing, or run past them to save the world, which would kill them? He forces you to do this several times over, but thankfully the game presents you with enough time to save both. Still, this is a cruel thing to do, and you ‘’can’’ do only one.

At the end of the game, after the Final Boss, Comrade Black is sent into the endless void of space, seemingly gone for real this time. This was the end of the franchise, for now, though there have been hints of a third game.

Something to bring up that doesn’t fit in the EP chronologically is that throughout the games, he’s always been a Bad Boss. When Blob was coming for him, he blew up a bridge to block his path, which still had his minions on it. As well as that, he drops some of them in a furnace for telling him that Blob’s been able to colour more of the world back. A bit extreme, there.

‘’’Mitigators?’’’

Now, this is where I hesitated a bit. There are some moments with him where he’s goofy; for example in the scene where he’s revealing his doomsday weapon, he’s berating a mook for not locking the door to it properly, and when he’s having a villainous BSOD when Blob’s seriously hunting him down, he spills coffee on himself. However, as the main ‘’De Blob’’ page is, I’d argue he’s Laughably Evil. Despite having these moments occasionally, he’s still played dead seriously for his evil acts and everyone in universe despises him. We’ve allowed Laughably Evil villains before, and he comes off as simultaneously sadistic and goofy at the same time. He passes this, in my opinion, though it’s a point of contention. I can see this being a point of contention, as Scraggle brought up in private messages.

Besides that, he flies past (and sets) the baseline. He starts a cult, kills his minions outright when they fail, attempts to brainwash an entire planet and enslaves hundreds of people. Also, the devs weren’t subtle, because he’s supposed to be a representation of a communist fascist dictator. Hence the “comrade.”

‘’’Verdict?’’’
