Because Kinkajou told me to.

So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?

My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.

I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Random Type-0 news: I love Deuce. She is ungodly good in combat. Why are musicians always so OP?
Don't forget the cards, the deadliest weapons after the flute.

I've been training the Eidolons along my lower level party members, those guys get at least 10 times Exp for killing enemies, though sometimes nothing at all. Training Bahamut for an hour would probably get him to 255 cap.

Also, Rem is god tier. She either fills the party's MP, in a game where Magic is OP(and I haven't even unlocked the high-end spells yet), or she does her little Reraise dance and can summon for free. With Shiva especially it looks more like she enters a Super Mode, with both of them having a similar move style and Shiva sounding like an Axe-Crazy Rem.

Having trained Shiva from lvl 22 to lvl 48, it will forever be my head canon that Rem steals souls to shortly turn into an ice goddess that freezes her enemies in eternal agony.

Just a few more levels before she can take on the strongest enemy in the game, an egg.

Deformed chicken ball? Breaks the level limit too. HAX.

My boy, Ace, gave a real whoopping to the Coeurl queen. LAAAAASERS. I like the lack of grinding, killsights let me kill things 30 levels above my characters. Of course, I just had to start over because of corrupted save data. Thisiswhatigetforwantingthecostumes. Stupid cheats.

Grinding will happen, a lot. Things like Behemoths or Adamantamais will require lots of Kill-Sights if your not at their level( better don't get me started on these Iron Giants that go Invincible and then just stare at you for a minute). Since taking damage seems to prevent an enemy to allow Kill-Sights, you spend most time doing nothing and waiting for an opportunity. Or you hold Eight's troll button, which allows you to screw hordes of enemies.

So you managed to activate cheats? That's at least more than I could do. Well, should I ever try to get demo/MP exclusive items again, I will make back-ups on the PC before now.

The game's stupidly cheat-sensitive, to the point weird stuff happens. I had to start over three times. I somehow managed to get the summer costumes in by ruining my data over five times or so, but then it was proven totally worthless since I found another way to get them by playing with the demo's save. They're needed for an alternate ending, otherwise I would never bother.

I recall someone saying that Rikku carries the No Sphere Grid run to the point that most of the time, you'll have everyone but her scarper, give her an evade & counter weapon, and then have her steal to her hearts content. Now, I don't think I'll make one of these runs, but what would you say are the overdrive styles that should be equipped?

Edit: Also, I finally got the Sun sigil. That was one of the most painful minigames I've ever had the misfortune of having to play, shortly followed by the five star minigames from Spyro 2.

[up][up] Stoic is definitely the most useful style for everyone, since you have such low HP and defense that by the end of the game one hit will fill it up completely, so just have everyone take a beating near a save point (for quick healing) before boss battles and you'll be ready to go. Especially useful because after a certain point in a NSG game you'll be pretty much 100% relying on Overdrive damage from everyone to win boss fights.

I unlocked all kinds of overdrive styles that I never knew existed when I did a NSG, though. There's one where your meter goes up the more you evade attacks which I might've had on Rikku at various points. But if I remember correctly, Stoic is the way to go.

Dancer. Under normal circumstances (i.e., before postgame or getting characters into other people's Sphere Grids), it goes best on Lulu or Yuna, or on anyone equipped with the Evade And Counter ability.

EDIT: Poor Rinoa indeed.

So I just got FF Type-0. So far I'm liking it pretty well. The game play anyway. Ace is my favorite character to play as so far, but I haven't tried a lot of them. I'm tried Sice, Seven and Eight, and a few others but I haven't played very much.

The plot so far is really hit or miss for me. I see they're going the political intrigue, and I like that, but I don't see much of the main character's personality which is a shame because they all seem pretty interesting.

Does this get rectified in some way later on?

It's mostly written as a Japanese war epic. I wouldn't say the characters are the focus. Machina and Rem and maybe Ace get more of the spotlight. The rest kinda develop in their optional scenes around the Academy.

The biggest problem with the characters is a clear lack of originality. They're not just archetypes, many of them are lifted straight from previous characters both in personality and design. Seven is almost an exact copy of Lightning, down to the voice actress using a similar tone (even though it's a different woman). Cinque's design is a ginger Aerith, if the latter had been more of a complete airhead. Nine is a less annoying Snow, a.k.a. Burly Idiot, but at least Nine is entertaining. And don't get me started on Jack. They didn't even bother with this guy. Even his voice actor is the same as Demyx's, and his only job in the story is to be completely detached from any seriousness. Go away, Jack. The rest have a lot of recycled features as well. It's kinda sad that the only person I can think of as mostly original is...Eight. Eight is cool. Raging Fire Form is win.

I just unlocked Avoid. This is beautiful. *_* Rem just became unkillable. Deuce as well.

Welp, first playthrough is done. Been a while since Final Fantasy evoked any kind of emotion from me other than Dissidia's nostalgia. That was sad. sad

I do feel the need to say I hate how silly some of the requirements to unlock the high-level magics are. Restricting Ultima in multiplayer-only particularly irks me.

I was playing some Blitzball today, and the Al Bhed made a really dumb move.

Blappa's contract expired. Blappa is quite a good player. They replaced him with the rather mediocre Nedus.

Beating them is far easier than it's ever been. And this is fairly early on in the season. I haven't even won a tournament yet.

Of course, Blappa may not have been that much help...

I've been playing Lightning Returns, and I'm almost done. Only The Very Definitely Final Dungeon remains. I had an easy time with the bonus dungeon, because the enemies there are all Last Ones, but the game informed me that any species that were already extinct would not appear there. As I had already made all species extinct except for one, the Meonektons, the bonus dungeon was for the most part a leisurely stroll to the Big Scary Cieth Dragon at the end. I narrowly lost the first battle, but I beat it on my second attempt, which amused me because the same thing happened with the Cieth Bonus Boss in the Archylte Steppe of XIII-2.

Only one of those I've even come close to playing is Asura's Wrath, and I declined because watching DBZ requires slightly less inputs for roughly the same output.

To put things into perspective, this is how the first boss is defeated.

Asura could totally take Goku in a fight. Speaking of Asura's Wrath, I finished Lightning Returns yesterday, and is it just me, or did they copy the ending of Asura's Wrath, right down to everyone being reincarnated in modern day earth? I find it amusing that Lightning is in France in the stinger though. Maybe she's visiting Serah and Snow, who now run a vineyard together?

I initially felt bad when Caius didn't want to be saved, but I felt better when he took Etro's place. Letting him be reincarnated would have made him a Karma Houdini after what he pulled in XIII-2, and he was going to stay behind in the Chaos anyway, so he might as well make himself useful.

Plus, Like Square, Cyber Connect 2 also made a Cinematic movie based on their most popular Franchise (Dot Hack) in a cinematic fighting light show (Something Advent Children can be compared to as well).

In fact, said movie is pretty much the basis for all of Cyber Connect 2's console games (Barring their Jojos Bizarre Adventure game) from the PS 3 era onwards.
