Dream SMP Cleanup

Dream SMP has many, many subpages and needs a lot of cleanup, so I've decided to make a dedicated short term project for it.

The main things that should be addressed:

• Removing Natter and fixing indentation issues
• Condensing walls of text and removing Word Cruft (I struggle with identifying this so it's one of the places where help would be most appreciated)
• Double-checking for misuse
• Fact checking to cleanup the remnants of 2021 fan wars and speculation from when the server was still ongoing
• Making sure there's no Real Life Troping (there shouldn't be, but)
• Handling potential ROCEJ violations from aforementioned 2021 fan wars, especially in regards to Quackity, Schlatt, Dream, Tommy and Techno

I can't believe I missed in my OP that it's seriously under-crosswicked too, particularly anything that's under a character subpage tends to not be crosswicked

I've tried my hand at a little of the cleanup earlier today. I'm kind of busy for the next weeks, though, but I can check to make sure cleanup by everyone else is going alright.

Edit: Honestly, it feels a bit overwhelming now to go back to the DSMP, given we have had so much to work with and might have been a bit more zealous back then.

On the bright side, the series being over now means that we can do away with a lot of the stuff that was in place for the sake of not poking the bear in regards to things that were drama magnets, like the unnecessary amount of notes and comments that are present anywhere Ranboo and Tubbo's marriage is mentioned

Been making my way through our character subpages, so far I've given a pretty thorough cleaning to:

• Dream SMP: Greater Dream SMP
• Dream SMP: Dream
• Dream SMP: The Badlands
• Dream SMP: Snowchester
• Dream SMP: The Eggpire
• Dream SMP: Kinoko Kingdom
• Dream SMP: The Syndicate
• Dream SMP: Technoblade
• Dream SMP: Jschlatt

Plus, at the same time I've been using them to find fitting tropes for Characters.SMPLive, lol

The split of Dream SMP Deceased as if it's a faction is bothering me, because it leaves pages like Dream SMP: Boomerville devoid of characters entirely. I feel like these characters should remain with their last allegiance in life, since they will have more correlation to the faction and its other characters than they do each other.

And the afterlife tropes on the page can just be on the main tropes list, IMO. The afterlife isn't a group of characters.

On a similar vein, I feel like we should probably cut Dream SMP Paradise and just move the three general examples to Wilbur's page. The wiki doesn't even recognize "Paradise" as a faction, and we don't put Michael under "Serenity" or Aimsey under "Daisy Hollow" despite those being their official allegiances, since they're the only characters that are members of those factions.

On the deceased page, I'd suggest:

• Mexican Dream: Move to Dream SMP: Neutrals or the main index
• Vikk and Lazar: Move to Dream SMP: Boomerville
• Connor: Move to Dream SMP: The Syndicate (especially since as of the Syndicate finale he's with them in the End...)
• Tubbo: Move to Dream SMP: Snowchester

I've cleaned most of the character pages now, so I'm gonna ping ~Aqua Eclipse in case you have any input on the above?

I personally have been steering clear of the entries myself (might check on them later once I have the motivation to), and I've always had a little issue with the page split myself, especially since many of the post-finale edits weren't made by me and I had little input in that.

The Deceased page originally checked out because there were a few dead people, not a good percentage of the server population.

Mexican Dream can go to Neutrals, the Boomerville residents go back there, Connor back to the Syndicate, I'm fine with all that.

I've never understood moving Tubbo to the Deceased page because bro, that's the finale we're talking about. It also meant having a folder duplicate across pages because whoever made that edit decided to not move Tubbo's folder. So yes, absolutely get Bee Boy's entry back to Snowchester.

I've also been considering having Ranboo (+ Boo + Z + his chat) have his own page, because altogether, I've checked that there's 4931 words, or 31,226 characters, or 31,389 bytes. From cross-referencing other character pages, I think that's enough for him to have his own page.

And speaking of that, move Paradise tropes to Wilbur's page. I'm fine with that — in fact, I'll move them myself.

Edit: Moved all Paradise tropes to Wilbur's page. Can cut now. Also, put Wilbur's page under Unaffiliated/Neutral.

I'll cutlist Paradise and move the characters from the Deceased page then. I don't think there's other significantly active editors for Dream SMP left that would disagree.

I think with Ranboo that'd need to be brought up to the character-specific page thread.

Edit: Hm, I guess what's left to consider is where to categorize Schlatt on the navigation menu? I guess Neutrals could work.

I cutlisted the deceased page now because I moved everything, and also while doing so found the long-abandoned Characters.Dream SMP Little Penis Land and cutlisted it too LMFAO

The Ho Yay page needs a lot of work. Ho Yay is an audience reaction and a lot of what's listed here is either intentional, or even if not confirmed to be intentional, just way too overt to be Ho Yay and is either just canon romance, Ship Tease, or Homoerotic Subtext.

• The canon relationships - Should be cut. Not Ho Yay.
• Dream Team flirting - This is Ship Tease.
• Crafting table - This one's fine.
• BBH and Skeppy - I'm torn. The specific examples mentioned here don't feel like enough for Homoerotic Subtext but I feel like on the whole these two are a bit much for a Ho Yay page. I think it's fine enough.
• Wilbur and Quackity - Lord almighty. This is all either Ship Tease or Homoerotic Subtext depending on the specific instance. Way too overt for Ho Yay regardless.
• XD and George - Is Ship Tease I think. Given it's DNF.
• Foolish and Quackity - Cut. This is just a Twitter interaction.
• Quackity and Slimecicle - I wrote this section myself but I'm starting to feel that like Wilbur and Quackity it's a bit too overt for Ho Yay, though I'd say it's more Homoerotic Subtext than outright Ship Tease? Either way, "kisses this guy on screen" (even if Played for Laughs) and "plans to give him the key to the country that he built for him and his fiances in a little box" is way over the line of Ho Yay.

TFTSMP section:

• All the Sapnap characters and Karl - Is an Actor Allusion joke and also too explicit for Ho Yay. This is Ship Tease.
• Corps and Cornelius - I think is Homoerotic Subtext or just Heterosexual Life-Partners.
• Jack and Karl - This is a major reach.
• Jack and Mason - This is Ship Tease.
• Crops and Karl - This is Ship Tease.
• Jack and Crops - This is Ship Tease.
• Neither of the examples on The Maze are even remotely relevant. A character being Ambiguously Gay isn't Ho Yay.

I don't think we have enough left for a page, honestly? We could make a ShipTease.Dream SMP page probably, maybe a HomoeroticSubtext.Dream SMP page if there's enough? I dunno.

There's probably a lot more that could be added to a Ship Tease page if we made one, such as Ponk's Yandere shades towards Foolish and whatever the hell is happening with Fundy and HBomb when HBomb is cosplaying as a cat maid. And Michael's^* Mcchill, obviously, not the pig whole... Weird retconned Dream thing

I have thoroughly cleaned the first page of tropes. I'd like to suggest we cut down on the amount of comparing Manberg to fascism, since it doesn't really fit the definition — Schlatt is a legally-elected ruler who, in Wilbur's own words, only intends to rule until he loses the next election. Being a bad and cruel ruler doesn't mean your country follows the political belief system of fascism.

Hm, ~Aqua Eclipse, I understand and agree with not standardizing a single set of pronouns for characters that use multiple, but could we at least make it so multiple different pronouns aren't used in the same example to refer to the same person? This one on Aimsey for example is rather confusing:

And this one on Eret:

It's not exactly obvious to outsiders that the different pronouns in these examples are referring to the same person.
