My Older sibling kinda unintentionally recommended me to it. It was because I would space out on a blank page. This was back in 2011.
Cosmic human watches over a certain Meme universe.I attended the Starmen.net forums in 2007-2008. Found a thread about TV Tropes and how their Mother 3 page needed help. I went in.
The best character is always the one-shot disguise.I once had a phase where I was obsessed with fan theories on my favorite shows, movies etc. I decided to check out this "Wild Mass Guessing" thing, found it neat, decided to check the rest of the website, and the rest is history.
Many years ago a friend suggested I'd check the site and use it for pop-culture research, because TV Tropes offered terms for various recurring things I knew of in entertainment. Because these terms are descriptive and set the proper tone, the tropes were a great way to create new Aspects for the RPG Spirit of the Century. The forum I became aware of only much later, but joined because it's been years since the forums I frequented became extinct.
My friend sent me the link once, but warned me not to start clicking on other links. So I didn't. Then I rediscovered the site independently and got sucked in.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSomeone posted the Siivagunner page in the channel's comment section back in like 2016. I read through the characters page (that's as much as I remember) and the rest was history.
Guns and steel, that's what I am!From my university's science fiction and fantasy society's forum, I saw a link to a blog called Slacktivist which was making fairly detailed analyses of Left Behind (which the blogger considered the worst books ever published). I was intrigued by this analysis and kept reading the blog for months. I remember that twice, it linked to this wiki; once for Not What It Looks Like, once for some other trope I can't recall except it had a Death Note example. The first time, I just read the article itself, but the second time, I was intrigued by the entries and started a Wiki Walk. I had already done minor edits on Wikipedia, and I knew of many fandom wikis, but here was a wiki just right for me to edit; I'm interested in odd fiction, I have an analytical mindset that loves finding patterns, and it didn't require the expert knowledge and research needed on Wikipedia, or the intense devotion needed on fandom wikis. It was a while before I used the forums, but I have since found them informative.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.I...don't remember. I first discovered this site as a kid in the 2000s through I think a stray Google search. I used it for a while, stopped using it for reasons that are a bit complicated to explain, and for equally complicated reasons started using it again around 2013-2014-ish. I created my account in late 2019 because I decided I felt like I could contribute.
I started lurking on the forums when what used to be called Deader Than Disco had its cleanup thread started and I noticed it being linked in the edit reasons. I lurked for years until late 2020 when High Crate (before he got banned) suggested making a Genre-Killer cleanup thread, I noticed, posted an ATT query about it, started the thread after discussion, slowly got involved with the rest of the wiki through that, and the rest is history.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallI'm unsure if I knew about the site long before I made an account in 2020 to use the You Know That Show section. While I vaguely recall not being too keen of the site when I looked up my favourite show since I was a mild victim of the "tropes are cliches, cliches are bad" mentality (silly in hindsight, I know ), I stayed around for a while and explored while waiting on my YKTS queries and at some point decided to contribute.
Pantheon Wick CleaningMy sister introduced me to Markiplier, who then introduced me to Don't Starve, the wiki for which linked me to This Very Wiki's page for Ambidextrous Sprite. I looked up DS here, read the entire godforsaken article in one go, and well, the rest is history.
That was in 2018.
You keep using the term "POV". I do not think it means what you think it means.I searched A Hat in Time on Google and one of the first links was a TV Tropes page. My life has been ruined ever since.
I can't remember when this was, though. I can't judge by account date since I didn't make an account for a while.
We seem to get this thread a lot it seems
New theme music also a boxDo we? Ah. Apologies. Didn’t actually know.
Even if that's the case, I haven't interacted in this type of thread before, so...
Basically I don't remember exactly how I got into TV Tropes but my earliest memories of my website was browsing the Character page of Yandere Simulator back in 2018 and been lurking ever since. I then made my account in 2020 but only became truly active in July 2021.

Victor of HGS S320 | "There's rosemary, that's for remembrance. Pray you, love, remember."I first found this site when looking for info on Cupcakes, in around 2015. I read it for a few years but didn't get an account until 2019 when I found out about You Know That Show, and got an account to ask about an animated movie I saw as a kid (it was an adaptation of The Trumpet of the Swan)
HqamiliciousWhen I was younger I was looking up a wiki for Off the Grid and this is what showed up. Ever since then I've been a degenerate.
Some call it stalking, I say walking just extremely close behindI found Family-Unfriendly Violence linked... somewhere over a decade ago.
Did not make an account until more recently though.
"Grandmaster Combat, son!"Bored internet searching.
"Hope for our world, tragedy for another."If memory serves, I came across it in high school while briefly on a Game Grumps kick (which lasted all of like two or three months, lol) and stumbled upon Funny.Game Grumps. Weird to think that a blip on my radar of interests would lead me to a site that I've been active on for eight years.
Be kind.Looking up descriptions of how to describe "icy blue eyes" around 2015 or so and it led me to the trope of the same name.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position. Was reading about myths about people turning into animals/vice-versa on Wikipedia, someone in the discussion linked Shapeshifting Lover.
Googling “Scribblenauts word list” brought me here in late 2010.
Peace is the only battle worth waging.I got into Friendship is magic when it first came out, and a meme page mentioned the fact that Luna was both a literal and figurative Ensemble Dark Horse. I didn't make an account until a year later, though.

What fate a slugcat...
I'll start. I'm one of the younger ones here, only joining in 2021 (although I've been lurking since 2015), and I noticed that one of the shows I had a special interest in was lacking in tropes. I made an account to add in tropes and ended up getting sucked into the website and here I am today.
