- We recently discovered that a non-US IP address was hitting us with thousands of SQL injection attempts, none of which succeeded. They did, however, put additional load on the database. This wasn't intended as a DDoS attack per se but rather an attempt to take control of the site.
- The administrators activated additional security measures on our Cloudflare firewall that have had the unintended side-effect of causing frequent ReCAPTCHA prompts for users. We are aware of this problem and working on a resolution.
- Improvements to new user registrations and the user experience when suspended or banned. See this post for details.
Mar 21th:
- The adblocker bug (popup message) will now appear for logged-in users after a certain threshold of page views has occurred while blocking ads.
- You may snooze the bug for up to 7 days at a time if you have contributed to the wiki (by editing articles) recently.
- There is now a subscription option to use TV Tropes ad-free for certain periods (monthly, yearly).
- You can use this link to access the subscription system.
- Subscriptions use a third-party payment facilitator called Stripe. TV Tropes does not collect or store any of your payment information. You will be rebilled at the indicated interval unless you cancel.

Not completely sure this is the right place for this, but I've had consistent problems with three things:
- Line breaks, especially inside folders and on quotes pages. Line breaks seem to be not working at all inside character folders, while on the quote pages the breaks between individual quotes seems random.
- Outbound links are still treated as one long item, breaking line formatting.
- Commented-out items leave a blank line, making it obvious and annoying that there is something commented out, which is the exact opposite of what it is supposed to do.
I can't seem to update my profile. If I change my signature or anything and hit save changes, it just reverts to whatever it was before.

Thank you so much for paginating the namespace indexes and fixing the "too big to display" glitch on the Main index. Thanks to this, these indexes weigh less than 300 KB. The last page button taking you to a ridiculously high page number is still an issue though, and it's on every namespace index now.
Even so, quite a few other tools should likely be fixed. The page type per namespace tool has a weird vertical arrangement for the letters, but in the previous version the letters were in nice looking blocks and were arranged horizontally.
And these lists should also get paginated. The YMMV namespace subpage page type list has more than 40000 pages on it and weighs 5 MB, and since each page is on one column, the list is arranged vertically so poorly that it almost crashed my browser. Quite a few other page type per namespace lists also exceed 5000 pages, 24 total. It might also help if pages were listed on three columns like on the namespace indexes.
Not related to those issues, but I can't make profile changes (title changes, location changes, relationship status changes, timezone changes, signature changes). I can change my avatar, though.
I'm using a 2017 Lenovo laptop with Windows 10 as the operating system and Microsoft Edge as the internet browser, but I don't think this issue is exclusive to my device. Once again, thank you for all the hard work.

New problems then? The header bar (with Tvtropes, Tropes, Media, Browse, Indexes, Forums, Random Trope, Random Media, and Search) shrunk on me yesterday. It used to stretch from one side of the screen to the other, but now it's just in the middle. This is on my desktop (Windows 10/Firefox, 1920x1080 resolution); my laptop with a smaller screen is unaffected.
It's not a huge problem, but I do keep clicking on the wrong things because they're not where I expected them to be.
My screenshot was on Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest, but it seems to affect any page on my end.

The insertion of gratuitous backslashes bug (which I though was supposed to be fixed by this update) has now spread to crowners, visible to me on this page. This is not fixable by a null edit. Here's a screenshot: [1]

A glitch happened when I tried to change my title and signature. Basically, when I change it...Both the title doesn't change. Here's what I try to change:
For title...I wanted to change it to: "What's it like to feel stark terror?"
And for sig...I want to change it into: "Order into chaos, way of the world."
But for some reason, it doesn't change at all when I tried to save changes.

Same here. If I try to change anything in the Additional Info section, it reverts back to what it used to be when I hit save changes. Leaving the page without hitting save changes doesn't, well, save the changes.

1. The site was having issues with returning a gateway timeout for at least a few hours. Turns out it was the feed for the podcast episodes on the home page that was hanging causing everything to timeout. Once the podcast episodes were removed it all went back to normal. They will be added back using a cronjob to load the feed in the background to avoid this issue in the future

2. A problem I have with this is that I'm receiving advertisements while reading a page, in one instance I got four advertisements in a row and some of them were very large. Is this possible to fix?

Today I've noticed a visual glitch when using the search engine where the text appears twice. The search results appear once then once again below that.

Speaking of visual glitches, certain images int he forums (at least)mainly some avatars and the emotes (not emoji) aren't showing or talking along time to load. The same is happening to the other header Social Media links are alright, but everything else on that header seems to be invisible unless I stop the page from loading or wait.
EDIT: It seems the issue is resolved so it might had been something on my end.

Lost in Space
I'd like to take a moment to update everyone on some backend changes that we've been making over the past week or two.
In order to deliver better performance and reduce server load, we've moved the main site content over to a CDN (Content Delivery Network). If you notice that the IP address of tvtropes.org points to an Amazon-owned range, that's why. This move allows users to be served cached content when not logged in, and offers additional optimizations that go beyond the scope of a simple forum post.
However, we've had some issues with Amazon as a provider, including an unanticipated side-effect where many forum functions seem to not work properly, including Hollers. The administrators have thus changed again, to CloudFlare's CDN service. It may take DNS a few days to switch over, and some glitches may occur in the transition.
Feel free to report any problems here, but be aware that they are most likely transient, and we'll keep an eye open for any issues that persist.
Unrelatedly, recent brief downtime was traced to an improperly coded query in the Ask The Tropers section of the site. This issue has been fixed.
