Your mama may have had eyes in the back of her head, but our admin team just can't see everything at once. It takes a village to make sure TVTropes is running the way it should, so when it comes to spotting tech snafus, dreaming up a better digital mousetrap, or just diagnosing plain old asshattery, the quicker you let us know something's up, the quicker we can address it. See a bug? Point to it and we'll squash it. Have idea for a new feature? Post in the Tech Wishlist.
NOTE: Do not post duplicate bug queries, please check existing queries to see if your issue has already been reported and then comment on it.

openTLP bugs
- A draft's edit history doesn't have the same timestamp links as the wiki history (and should really be near identical aside the inclusion of different sections). I can link to https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/yk_history.php?id=vqc8c6rnhu4rakg8yph0ocrp#edit644857 , but there's no option in the interface to do that.
- Reportedly, if one to send a Notifier to a TLP edit, the link to the edit doesn't show up properly.
openCorrupt page restoration
- has copied page's false linebreaks and HTML comments, creating an absolute mess
- doesn't show up in the article's edit history without the word filter

working"You're Using an Ad Blocker" Prompt Appearing When it Shouldn't
My account is one where I should never receive ads when logged in thanks to the Kickstarter from a few years ago and I only see the "You're using an Ad Blocker" prompt when not logged in.
Starting this afternoon, I'm getting the same "You're using an Ad Blocker" prompt on every page despite being logged in and no ads appearing when the blocker is disabled (as expected).
workingATT occasionally glitches
This only happens for a few seconds at a time, but lately there's been a small chance that if I check ATT there will just be nothing; a blank front page with the page buttons. Eventually it comes back if I refresh, but I was wondering if anyone else has this happen
closed Link text has a yellow background in Chrome on Windows
As the title says, for some reason all link text on TV Tropes is displayed on yellow background on my Windows 10 computer when viewed in Chrome. Forum links still look normal, and there is no yellow background either when I view the site in another browser (such as Firefox, or the Android version of Chrome). I didn't encounter such problems on other websites either. The problem began no earlier than a week ago.

Was ptitle5nn0czid a recent deletion or is something keeping it in rotation?
Edited by MaladyopenCan't post on forums
I tried to upload posts on a couple of forums but the drafts just disappeared without it being uploaded after i clicked "upload". I pressed it once and it didn't do anything and pressed it a second time and the draft disappeared.
openImage Uploader choked
Multiple times by now I have observed that the Image Uploader rejects an image, while the console types "Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 () 04:17:52.073 /ajax/uploadImg.php:1", the image gets submitted when I click Submit several more times.
openMissing YKTTW
The YKTTW archive for The Inverse Law of Fandom Levity isn't showing up on its discussion page, and isn't in the Launches list. I know this happens a lot with older tropes, and it happened to a few tropes very sparsely over the course of 2023, but this is the first time it's happened since, I believe. I know there isn't a known cause for this bug, but does it affect tropes that were drafted in the 2010s more?
openChange launch message
When a trope is launched, the edit reason for the first edit is "Created from YKTTW". This needs to be renamed to "TLP", and "?interval=.25" is only specific and pointless.
On related note, hatting twice has a popup "You have already tossed your hat in for this YKTTW.", which should be changed to "You have already tossed your hat in for this draft."
Edited by AmonimusopenMore Launch missing details
Fanart At First Sight says (before it's cut) that it was launched Mar 15th 2022. There is no such launch in the launches list and the Discussion page is missing a link to the draft. It should link here.
Edited by Amonimusopen2 Story Generator Issues
So the Story Generator seems to have some quirks that should be fixed if we want the tool to be more useful.
- It's pulling any blue link on a page, not just the ones in an index. Additionally, it displays the link not as the actual page name but as whatever it's potholed as. For instance, it gave me "Don't expect safety railings" as a setting because that phrase is potholed on the Settings page. Ideally, it should only pull from tropes that are actually indexed, not just any link.
- It's using Heroes for the hero section, which has since become a disambig. It should ideally point at Hero Tropes.
Both of these may not be glitches so much as just odd coding quirks or things that used to work perfectly fine before things got updated, but... yeah.
openTrope draft was launched but says it was nuked
The Feather Fall and Camera Shy trope drafts say they were nuked. However, they were actually launched, at Feather Fall and Camera Shy, and furthermore, they don't show up in the Discards list or the Launches list.
openBrowse Tropes trash
Sometimes when I'm bored, I surf the "Browse Tropes" function to find something new to read or as inspiration, but it occasionally present pages that were deleted loooong ago.
Trope and work pages that were cut for various reasons still show up in Browse Tropes, even if they don't lead to any page after clicking them.
The worst examples are spam scam pages like "wtach KUNG FU PANDA 3 free hot singles in ur area giv us mony". "Pages" that were nuked, but Browse Tropes still thinks that they are important enough to show.
And that's not counting that sometimes the list compiled by Browse Tropes can turn VERY long, filled with pages of works, Useful Notes and even some Troper pages.
At this point, I'm betting that a member of the Red Link Club is gonna show up on Browse Tropes one day.
Is it possible to update whatever system Browse Trope runs on, and make it less stupid?
open"Error: Connection reset" when not using a VPN
When I try to use TV Tropes without using my VPN, I've been running into Chrome going "Error: Connection Reset". Cleaning caches doesn't fix the issue, changing pages doesn't work, etc. Only turning the VPN back on lets me continue.
I'm not certain, but could this be due to an IP address issue? Someone else suggested it could be due to me sharing an IP with a banned user.
openNew line markup keeps disappearing
In my draft Famous Time Travel Hotspot, the Doctor Who example has a two-line quote underneath it. Every time I edit the page, the \ markup that indicates a new line disappears and I have to re-add it.
Edited by NitroIndigoopenYou can't escape youtube embeds
Putting anything resembling the code for a youtube embed into a forum post will result in it attempting to turn that code into a video embed, regardless of whether it's empty, escaped, or otherwise shouldn't display. Not really a huge problem normally, but it does make it impossible to demonstrate the code accurately
Edited by HylarnopenForum Search overlooks the Archives
Just tried out the Forum Search, and entering "Cibus" pulls up its two mentions in the old P5 flag evaluations thread, but not a more specific forum thread from later in the Content Violations Morgue.
Is that intentional for any reason?
openBackslashes keep disappearing in drafts
Why is it, when I edit a draft in the Trope Launch Pad, the double backslashes (\), used to start a new paragraph, get deleted?
Every time I edit one of my drafts, I have to add them back again; even simply posting a reply under one of my drafts is enough to delete some of the backspaces, which I then have to manually add for the next edit.
This happens only with drafts, editing a post in a forum or a page doesn't seem to indirectly affect the backslashes.
It's getting kinda annoying, so I wondered what could be the cause behind it, and if a solution would be impossible or not.
