There's been a new game greenlighted by a different company than the one that made the last game and a live action musical starring several of the Voice Actresses. Now all we need is a confirmation of a Season 2 in the works.

[up]The Kemono Friends event being run by the Tobu Zoo has been something I've been watching, the idea of sticking cutouts of the animals by the exhibits was cute and it looks like people really liked it. Grape-kun's constant vigil at the Hululu seems to be something that people still have no explanation for but at least it's made a lot of fan art from it.

I think the picture of Tapir trying to eat the upset looking Tapir cutout was the second funniest thing to come out it.

Other Zoos are cutting deals to sell Kemono Friends items in order to draw attendance.

So with the show's insane popularity, you think there's going to be a reanimated version at some point?

I imagine it's something everyone has considered, but at the moment they should really be focusing on creating new content. Generally you should be an established brand before bothering with remakes

Well, unless you're Madoka Magica P:

I'd argue Madoka was pretty established by the time the remakes came out.

From what I heard the second airing and the releases did some touching up on the Anime in the backgrounds and some other things, but I think, and it seems some of the fandom agrees, that remastering the entire series would actually kill some of the appeal.

Nooooot exactly. The re-air used the Blu-Ray versions, which did tweak things also hilariously added its own set of gaffes. Like taking away Kaban's bag for the entirety of the Savannah section.

Guys the anime is now on Steam. :D Someone also added the post apocalyptic tag for some reason.

[up]Yep, Crunchyroll does it. Apparently the experience sucks compared to a proper video platform, but it is usable. They recently dropped 50 series on Steam just in time for the big sale.

As for Kemono Friends being post-apocalyptic... it is, at least for the park itself. No real clue on how things are off the island(s).

Well, I started the series last night and I'm actually pleasantly surprised. It's basically the slowest animal-safari ever, but it's cute.

I kind of hope they can afford proper animation, or at least proper CG animation, if they make a second season off this popularity, though.

It's been fun.

I wish I could say the same; I tried to get into it, but it's just so damn boring. Honestly it feels like a show you'd only get something out of if you like animals and learning about animals. If you're like me, however, you're gonna spend most of the episode thinking "holy crap, can we get a move on, already?"

Grape-kun is the first penguin I know that has an anime waifu.

I found it great, despite it's production values. Lots of heart.

And I suppose it takes a certain level of jadedness to give enjoy it, as the way it was directed was just so unlike many mainstream shows in the same season. The decision to set it up as if it was a kid's show probably helped too, as it's bereft of pretense and very charming as a result.

I find it's really great to watch with something else open (like a forum or so on), so you can kind of watch with one eye. The CG really doesn't bother me that way.

It's been fun.

I finally found the translated lyrics for the OP and ED. Both can be found here.

The OP is really just how about the Friends are stoked to see new people. The only link to the full song I found is from the time /a/ decided to sing it.

The ED, on the other hand, is about a farewell and a promise of meeting again regardless of how bad things might get. That one probably left the people who understood moonspeak sctratching their heads during the whole show, and then punched then in the gut even harder on EP 11.

[up][up] There's this video where Masayoshi Ooishi (大石昌良) who made the song sings it.

On a unrelated note, someone made a comparaison video of the size of the various friends (or at least their real life counterparts).

Also, "Tamori-san is an Iguana friend right?"

Dunno why it took me so long to watch this. It gives me vibes of my favorite series such as Gravity Falls and Haibane Renmei, albeit in a lighter fashion. On episode 10.

Just got done plowing through this—sorta had to wait for the insane hype to die down so I wouldn't intentionally try to hate it.

The animation is... conspicuously bad (sometimes they straight-up forget to move a character's mouth), but visual quality barely matters to me in general, and in this case it works. Helps create the atmosphere of a "labor of love" held back only by a pathetically low budget, which is probably what made it so popular.

I liked that it didn't take the now-standard zomgsodark route for its Subverted Kids' Show. Unlike, say, School-Live!, it doesn't beat you over the head with "apocalypse! angst! horror!" but instead develops the tragic backstory and "scary" stuff gradually, and doesn't try to pull a Break the Cutie on anyone. The characters are actually allowed to be upbeat and/or happy most of the time, despite the apocalypse... this probably also made the show popular, given the state of the real world these days.

It's sort of analogous to RWBY, except I can understand why people like Kemono Friends.

The show will be reaired starting August 14, with a twist...it's airing in a children's timeslot rather than the Otaku O'Clock timeslot.

A 2nd season is apparently confirmed through some text that comes with one of the official book (the purple and green one). You can see lot of reaction on twitter about it right now. Edit : here is a link to said text.

The post about season 2 are now booming out in twitter. and not just in Japanese or English. Also, a popular post from Irodori (which from what I understand is the person/twitter account that posted episode 12.1) Also, it will be possible in a few days to see Kemono Friends on Crunchyroll's Twitch. Also, Kemono Friends X Undertale arrange because why not?
