All right saw the second part and my point still stands on being a good start overall.

Well this part does address the downside of Peter going to a school like Horizon in terms of finances. Was hoping that he was going to take up a job at the Daily Bugle, but nope he works as a lab assisstant for Max Modell to pay off the tuitions. So much for that element of Spider-Man

Well they are definitely taking the Younger and Hipper route with Doctor Octopus. Though have to say, Scott Menville voice work is actually fitting for this take on Octavious even though he is well remembered for playing teen sidekick of a badass normal super hero in a show involving a super hero team . . . the character I'm refering to is of course Bucky from Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes . . . I really need to give that show a rest as thats not the reference I was going for.

Surprised that they are doing the Peter/Harry falling out immidiately even though the show just got started. Also, are they trying to do the whole Green Goblin is Harry red herring again? They already did that with Spider-Man TAS and Spectacular Spider-Man; we all know by the end its going to be Norman.

And that line Smythe made about "all part of his master plan", yeah Doctor Octopus is obviously going to be the Big Bad of the series. Doesn't help that this is based heavily on Dan Slott's run on Spider-Man, who really loves to make Doc Ock the main arch nemisis for Spidey.

Okay finally saw the first part.

A little nitpick here, but I'm getting really annoyed by them making Vibranium that common for the sake of fanservice. I mean, Christ, that thing is still authorized in Wakanda only in the main comic. How are Wakandians still so advanced over everyone if they opened enough to let everyone else take Vibranium?

Now that I got the stupid nitpick out of the way....

Shows promise so far. Vulture is "meh", and he clearly is here just as a reference to Homecoming, but the show clearly does its own thing as well, so it's not too bad of a problem. The humor is waaaaaay less grating than in USM, and I find myself still sympathizing with Spidey. The animation is hit and miss, but it works okay, and I am fine with the artstyle.

Overall, I look forward to the next episodes. This has potential.

I think Smythe was actually referring to himself; he tells his son that it's all a part of his own master plan, in a manner like "your dad's got this."

I also noticed that the Midtown High background looked as it did in Ultimate. Prop Recycling?

I know these kids are smart but jeez. Miles made a robot, Anya made an empty, and Harry made a bomb. :p Is this a response to Ultimate Spider-Man too?I remember one episode of that show that made me think the entire cast was stupid.

I did chuckle at Anya's "I can just make Vibranium now lawl". Wouldn't Wakanda be kinda pissed that their super secret-metal has been easily recreated by a random high schooler? Wouldn't they suspect espionage?

[up]My point exactly. I was irritated when USM did it, and this show doesn't get a pass. Fortunately, this is a detail.

I'm glad you guys are enjoying it even if has has somethings that kinda might me say men but get someone offended. there could be theory that this takes place in a different universe, which might explain why miles is in this show some how. either or doesn't really make any sense personally.

[up]Well all animated comic book shows are technically in a different universe.

The first episode is fine. Nothing groundbreaking, but nothing awful either.

It has a bit of a weird science fetish, but that's a harmless quirk.

I'm hoping they dial it down later on.

I'm not saying I will look at each scene and wonder if it was based on Spectacular on purpose, but the scene where Vulture carried Max, was very similar to the one with Osborn.

Also, there is an upcoming episode called Ultimate Spider-Man. If it won't be a Take That! episode, then I don't know what it will be about. Well, perhaps about Miles, but I'm not sure how it will make sense in the context of the show.

So, recent episode.

Thought it was pretty okay, but I think they spent way too much time on the fight between Clayton and Herman, and the episode felt a little unfocused and disjointed.

At first I thought they were wasting the Jackal as a generic villain with no backstory. But then that last scene, way to plant a twist. [lol]

That was a pretty neat touch, yeah.

I'm kind of hoping that Harry is actually going to be the Green Goblin in this one, given that he built the tech this time around. Plus it'd be a reversal of expectations after having been a scapegoat in Spectacular and (I think) the 90s cartoon when Norman was the Goblin after the Hobgoblin showed up first.

Also, Oscorp looked like the one from Ultimate Spider-Man, so I think this show is just repurposing that shows' sets (I won't mind, provided that it keeps being rather decent).

The fact Flash Thompson just randomly showed up at Oscorp was amusing, though. Wonder if they're going the Homecoming route of making him academic, if he's a jock like the show said he was in Episode 1, or some mixture of the two.

On other notes, it looks like there'll be two eps (in the wrong order) next week, according to my DirectTV. Probably just a fluke, though.

So we got a new version of Shocker and Clash (who I've only become familiar with recently via the Spiderman tie ins of Civil War II so I'm not clear how long he's been around).

It's nice to see a reminder that Herman made his own gear, since he was left out of Spectacular, and had his stuff made by the Tinkerer in Homecoming.

Seems that they aren't going to make the Jackal Miles Warren, but they still found a way to tie him to Gwen).

Not sure how I feel about the thing with Harry. Not really something I'm into.

I wouldn't be surprised if its just the Jackal's first name that is changed to enforce the One-Steve Limit.

I was talking with my brother and I misheard him say Uncle Bay, the conglomeration of Uncle Ben and Micheal Bay. He is tragically shot in a car jacking, but as the carjacker drives away in the stolen car it explodes.

[up][up][up] Yeah, they named him after Raymond, who is Miles's brother in the comics. The character also showed up in Spectacular, but he was named Aaron instead.

I'm loving Academic Alpha Bitch Gwen Stacy. Many versions of Gwen run into the unfortunate trend of making her too "perfect" (looking at you, Emma Stone), so I'm really glad that this one has some distinct personality flaws to offset her genius mind. Plus, it's faithful to the comics before Gwen's characterization changed.
