Considering that Ren told her not to wander too far off lest she get lost, I assume her friend's misfortune is that her sense of direction is absolute shit.

I get the feeling that Hanako's trait of being hated by animals is slightly stronger than Ren's animal attraction. It took a while for the animals to turn back and pounce on Ren after all...

Last episode Ren told Hibiki the latter as absolutely qualified for Class 7, since she's lost like three times a day.

There're lots of road work that would go on for ages, but I don't expect it'd be on this kind of road...

OK, this is the first time I've seen Anne being unhappy, but the cause is as mundane as A-Cup Angst...

And what's going on here? The teacher has been spying on the students all along, from the time they tendered their application forms?

Before the next ep: I wasn't even sure about the orange-haired unlucky girl's name anymore. The show's official website always write her name as kanji (An) with Hanako being her nickname, but no English source spells her name An...

Just call her Hanako?

I believe the official stream is going with 'Anne'.

I think Sam's just having a problem because the kanji used in Anne's name (杏) isn't normally one you'd see used in a first name. In fact, it's half of another word that IS used as a first name — Anzu (杏子), aka the Apricot (same as in Girls Und Panzer, in fact). It's kind of just using the "Le" part of the word "Lemon".

The localization using "Anne" is just convenient, as it's an actual name.

Huh, you know, come to think of it, the episodes seem to be airing in "Real Time", much like Hibike Euphonium — with episode 1's title matching up with the air date (04/11/2016).

& Anne Happy also happens to be the official romanisation of the original title and a play on Hanako's given name, so the "translation" of her name follows from that naturally.

Well, my problem is the English-speaking viewers, for once, strangly didn't complain for a name Westernization (I saw one complaint on CR's comments section, and just that).

I initially had a problem with it, but then I learned it was official so I decided to suck it up.

But I'm not a westerner, so I guess I don't count.

I'm not complaining though, as the choice is very sensible. Like I mentioned, had they gone with "An", it wouldn't look good localization-wise, as there's simply no equivalent to it. Using "Anne", which is a real name word, makes things easier.

It's certainly more sensible than what happened with Hanayamata, where we had a Westerner with a name that really HAD a Western equivalent, yet they went with the Japanese spelling. What.

New week, new episode~!

Well now, I definitely think that the school admit not only has a lot of time on their hands, but also a lot of extra money, to create an underground bunker devoted to what amounts to a board game. XD

It's our first real taste of Les Yay for the series though, with Ren and Hibiki.

Now Botan is like a version of Prometheus of Greek mythology; forced to break all of her bones every day only for them to regenerate and break again the next.

My reading of the official website's character bios seems to imply Hibari's issue isn't only falling in love with a sign. Her problem is "being involved in somebody else's misfortune".

Considering she had the bad luck to get Hanako stuck to her on the way to school on the very first day...

I thought the flower of happiness would be something like a sunrise. Or sunset. Or friendship. It was friendship.

Hibiki is just tsundere as anything.

It's not friendship, it's a star-like shape resembling a five-petaled flower resulting from sunlight passing through the design at the top of the gate.

Just going with the "penalty" the girls had to go through today as an extra assignment, while it's still dubious that the school has a set methodology to resolving Class 7's collective misfortunes, I think it's apparent that they really want the girls to enjoy themselves and be, well, happy.

Heck, the entire exercise this episode was essentially a Snipe Hunt, but in the process the girls really enjoyed themselves.

Of course I can always say Hibiki just wanted to spend the day with Ren, but they were assigned "homework" as well? At least this is what Hibiki says.

Last time I saw someone attempting to read an English paper in a Kirara show was Shinobu O., but at least Shino was trying.

Clothes choosing:

• Hibari's panties fanservice, plus the fact that her lust towards an actual human may be budding.
• Botan's problem seems to be D-Cup Distress plus Weight Woe.
• Hanako's ten sets of new clothing. Her mom is trying to hide the fact that she's Born Unlucky.

Hibiki vs the kitties. Round 1! Round 2! Round 3! All while Ren is half asleep.

I'm thinking about Hanako's laundry expenses.

I'm also not sure whether she is just too stupid to understand the situation, or she's just optimistic.

Every female is literally lesbian for Ren. Even the birds and that granny. (I thought she's a pretty boy, but then I'm immune to bishies.)

Young Ren is absolutely adorable!

Since there'd be others talking about Hibiki and Ren, so I'd talk about the others.

1. This is a bit Fridge-y. Hibari met Hibiki at that sign far earlier than a school-going teen should be. Of course we know why Hibiki needs to be that early, but Hibari? How long is she going to spend with the sign?
2. While I expect Hanako to be somehow ditzy, having cats attacking her for 1,000 times and not knowing Animals Hate Her is a completely different thing.
3. You don't faint from bleeding gums.

The show might exaggerate certain things for comedy

So that's why she only managed to pull some of the animals off of Hanako back in episode 2. It's not that her animal attraction wasn't strong enough to pull them all off her, but that she could only pull the females.

In this episode, a day in the life of Hibiki.

You'd think she would be bothered that maybe the reason she's in love with Ren is just because of her species-transcending female-attracting pheremones and there would be "are my feelings the real deal" type drama, but she seems to be all right with that.

Hanako encounters the cats from Azumanga Daioh.

Tiny Ren is adorable. She had to cut her hair because its attractive power was too great, didn't she?

Hibiki made a pretty sweet eight-legged crane.

This is like, the cutest ship I've seen in a Kirara show. And that says a lot for how cute it is.
