Misused: Hey Its That Voice

It's not that we're slow, it's that the task is large. Once I finish a couple of the TRS things I'll be going back to help Willbyr finish the namespace migration - which isn't finished, all the wick changing hasn't been done yet.

What about something like, say the ep of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated where Mark Hamill uses his Joker voice pretty much. That seems like a legit use of HITV.

Delete it.

I don't know if it's there, I'm saying that before we just cut everything, we should make sure that there are no cases where the trope works (like in the case I mentioned, where it IS pretty much the same voice).

We already decided to remove everything from Trivia pages because the (poorly formatted) misuse grossly outnumbers the correct use.

The tropes are pretty much unsalvageable.

look at the definitions of Actor Allusion and Casting Gag, I'm sure one of those counts for the example you provided.

The wiki's total number of Trivia pages is now just barely under 20000, thanks to aggressive Cut Listing of many pages whose only items were Hey Its That Guy and/or Hey Its That Voice.

Thanks for helping. However, we are not almost done. Hey Its That Guy also needs its wicks chopping. And that is a much higher number - just over 1400.

Okay, one last hypothetical. Oscar Isaac is probably best known as Poe Dameron from The Force Awakens. He will be playing Apocalypse in X-Men: Apocalypse. Seems like a good example of Hey Its That Guy.

What part of "This discussion is closed and we're now doing clean-up" do you not understand? You have been told off for this, by the moderators, no less, before. Stop providing legitimate examples after a decision has been taken to try and get a thread open again. I told you the last one probably fit under Actor Allusion or Casting Gag. I don't think you looked at those descriptions, preferring to try and re-open a closed discussion on a pet trope. Go back to being a Complete Monster editor, you're good at that. Or check some of the still open discussions on this forum,

EDIT:I see you didn't post on this topic when it was open but come after it ended trying to get it open again, even though it was open for MONTHS.

Well, first off, that second example wouldn't really fall under either. Second, to be fair, that's because I didn't even KNOW this was an issue (I don't usually check Trope Repair Shop) until I went to the trivia tab for a work and saw that the examples had gone.
EDIT: Scratch that, it probably WOULD be role association. But my second point still stands.

That's YOUR fault for not checking here occasionally, you know where it is. It's not like it's a big mystery to a long time editor such as yourself. If a decision has been taken, don't try and get them to re-open the discussion in this manner. I'd be more lenient on a newbie, but someone who is that seasoned an editor and visits the forums as regularly as you should know better.

If he stars in a third film as a major villain or hero (and I assume he'll be back in Star Wars VIII.) He'll end up in All-Star Cast, where these people go.

Eh, fair enough.

Looks like Hey Its That Voice is pretty much done. As of this post, only two non-English indices and a faulty ghost wick remain.

We still got Hey Its That Guy to finish.

So are we also cutting Retroactive Recognition? Seems somewhat the same trope, if inverted.

Not yet, though we are going to look at it after we've finished the HITG clean-up.

Deliberately double posting so it updates the thread list: Only So Many Canadian Actors looks very similar to Hey Its That Guy, in fact looking like The Same But More Specific to my eyes.

Hmm, that could be an issue...though I think changing it from a trivia page to a Just for Fun thing could work.

Hey Its That Guy is now at <600 wicks.

Per this, all Hey, It's That Voice! example, save on bad link, have been purged, I've submitted it to the cut list.

Hey, It's That Guy! is down to under 300.

Our work is almost done.

Since it has 2,178 inbounds, I rather doubt that Cut List request will go through.

My understanding was that the main page wasn't to be cutlisted, just replaced with a redirect to JustForFun.Role Association. Any subpages with enough inbounds to matter can be given the same treatment, can't they?

With the latest round of cuts, Hey Its That Guy is now down to 11 wicks, all of which are either ghost wicks or archives.
