Some ideas about Tropes being used as weapons/tools...

There could be different types of Trope weapons and tools - perhaps organized into Events, Items, and Characterization. So if you're stuck on a certain level with too many Mooks or a super difficult boss you have a few options - you could invoke Big Damn Heroes and call in some reinforcements (an Event Trope), you could activate your Absurdly Sharp Blade (Item) or you could pull a Let's Get Dangerous! for a brief power-up (Characterization Trope).

As you gain experience or higher stats or whatever, you gain access to more powerful Tropes. The more you use a Trope, the less effective it becomes...unless you've picked up a Lampshade, which allows you to counteract the Decay of that particular Trope. (Also there could be an achievement called Running Gag unlocked by over-using a Trope, and one called Overly Long Gag for when you really run the Trope into the ground.)

EDIT: Added a brief description/introduction to the game's article.

[up] Good ideas. And if you get all the lampshades of the particular level, you unlock the Better than a Bare Bulb achievement.

And each level could have different ways you can win based on your combination of tropes- as in, a hypothetical level where you have to fight a whole crowd of enemies, you could try invoking Conservation of Ninjutsu, calling a Peace Conference with them, or using an Apple of Discord to make them fight each-other instead. And each trope has it's chance to fail, along with the consequences you mentioned for using one trope too often.

You will also have to make sure a trope fits, or else they might just end up being completely pointless and do nothing but waste MP- and maybe, if you use too many unfitting tropes, you contribute to The Decay yourself?

Yeah, maybe you have your own Decay bar and if it reaches a certain level it's game over.

Also good idea about the trope having to fit, if it doesn't it will either do nothing or it might even contribute to the Decay. Like if you invoke Conservationof Ninjutsu on just two Mooks it won't be nearly as effective as using it on fifty.

The final boss would be the Nunnery, resurrected from the dead as a nightmarish Eldritch Abomination that wants to absorb reality and turn it into smut.

[up]Shouldn't it be Troper Tales? For all the bad rep that there the Nunnery used to have, I learned a lot from more experienced people there.

I really should consider adding these plot ideas to the article. I was also wondering if it would be a good idea to have some opponents whom are more vulnerable to some tropes than others. As in, some foes might be immune to The Power of Love but vulnerable to The Power of Hate.

[up][up] That's exactly why I chose the nunnery and not troper tales. Troper tales was pretty bad, so it being an Eldritch Abomination would not be too strange.

But showing the zombified eldritch nunnery as a shell of it's former (good) self is more thematically cool.

[up] Maybe Troper Tales can just be a tougher-than average dungeon, maybe the one that leads to the Nunnery?

[up][up] I agree on getting these ideas up on the page. And with opponents being vulnerable to different things, I like that.

I'm going to try and add some of the story now. I think we need a different folder for enemy types, and speaking of enemies I thought of a combination of Hate Dumb and The Horde that fight with The Power of Hate.

[up] Alright. I like that enemy idea. There should also be hordes of Fan Dumb who fight by...erm...not sure. And maybe they could be having a war between themselves sometimes as the Unpleasable Fanbase.

A recurring minigame would be to finish all of your edits before the edit lock expires, which is pretty much what happens whenever I try to do any extensive editing.

You could also necro threads (like this!) in exchange for exp, but you lose some of your hp to revive the thread.
